Tamwe Township (also Tarmwe Township; Burmese: တာမွေ မြို့နယ်, pronounced [tàmwè mjo̰nɛ̀]) is located in east central Yangon, Myanmar. The township comprises 20 wards, and shares borders with Yankin Township in the north, Thingangyun Township and Mingala Taungnyunt Township in the east, Bahan Township in the west, and Mingala Taungnyunt township in the south.

Basic Education High School No. 2 Botataung (Burmese: အခြေခံ ပညာ အထက်တန်း ကျောင်း အမှတ် (၂) ဗိုလ်တထောင်; commonly known as Botataung 2 High School or St. Philip's High School), located in Botataung township, is a public high school in Yangon. The school's main building is a landmark protected by the city, and is listed on the Yangon City Heritage List.

Gandhi Hall, also known as Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Trust, is a building in downtown Yangon, Myanmar, on the Merchant Street corner of Bo Aung Kyaw Road. It was first used as the office of The Rangoon Times, one of the English-language newspapers in British Burma. Later, in 1951, it was bought by Prime Minister U Nu and Indian ambassador M. A. Rauf for the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Trust. The building is also part of the political history of Myanmar, as it was used for a gathering of elected representatives of the 1990 Myanmar election, who issued the Gandhi Hall Declaration in July 1990.

The Botataung Kyaik De Att Pagoda (Burmese: ဗိုလ်တထောင်ကျိုက်ဒေးအပ်ဆံတော်ရှင်စေတီတော် [bòtətʰàʊɰ̃ pʰəjá]; also spelled Botahtaung; literally "1000 military officers") is a famous pagoda located in downtown Yangon, Myanmar, near the Yangon river. The pagoda was first built by the Mon around the same time as was Shwedagon Pagoda—according to local belief, over 2500 years ago, and was known as Kyaik-de-att in Mon language. The pagoda is hollowed within, and houses what is believed to be a sacred hair of Gautama Buddha.The Botataung Pagoda was destroyed during World War II, and was rebuilt after the war.

The Ministers' Building (Burmese: ဝန်ကြီးများရုံး; also called the Ministers' Office; is today known as The Secretariat or Secretariat Yangon) was the home and administrative seat of British Burma, in downtown Yangon, Burma and is the spot where Aung San and eight cabinet ministers were assassinated. The British administration moved the office from Strand Road after administrative work increased greatly resulting in an urgent need to expand the cramped and poorly lit administration building.

General Post Office (Burmese: ရန်ကုန်စာတိုက်ကြီး) is a colonial-era landmark in Yangon, Myanmar (formerly Rangoon, Burma), designated in the Yangon City Heritage List. The building, located on the corner of Bo Aung Kyaw Street and Strand Road in Kyauktada Township, houses the central post office of Yangon.General Post Office was built in 1908 by AC Martin & Company, and housed the headquarters of Bulloch Brothers & Company, a Scottish rice trading firm founded by James and George Bulloch. The company was liquidated in 1933, and was subsequently acquired and repurposed in 1936 by the colonial government as the general post office for Rangoon.The building is noted for its lancet arched windows, its beaux-Arts portico, ornate stucco work, and foyer.

Basic Education High School (BEHS) No. 6 Botataung (Burmese: အခြေခံ ပညာ အထက်တန်း ကျောင်း အမှတ် (၆) ဗိုလ်တထောင်; abbreviated to အ.ထ.က. (၆) ဗိုလ်တထောင်; commonly known as Botataung 6 High School or St. Paul's High School), located a few miles east of downtown Yangon in Botataung township, is a public high school, and one of the oldest high schools in Myanmar. The school initially offered three kindergarten classes - Lower, Middle, Higher known as LKG, MKG, HKG and First through Tenth Standard. It now offers classes from kindergarten to Tenth Standard (or Grade 1 through Grade 11 in the new nomenclature). Known during the British colonial days as St. Paul's English High School, the Roman Catholic parochial school was the top school of choice for the children of the elite. Many of the country's who's who in those days were alumni of St. Paul's. The school was nationalized in 1965. While it is no longer the leading high school it once was, the school continues to be among the better (certainly among the better known) high schools in Yangon, serving mostly the children of middle-class families from downtown Yangon and vicinity. The school's main three-story red brick colonial era building is a landmark protected by the city, and is listed on the Yangon City Heritage List.

The Governor's Residence is a Victorian-style hotel located in Dagon Township, Yangon, Myanmar (Burma), located in a teak mansion from the 1920s. It is located in the Embassy Quarter near the Shwedagon Pagoda, the National Museum, the former Foreign Ministry office compound and India House - now the official residence of the ambassador of India. The famed British Gentlemen's Club, the Pegu Club was located nearby.

The Strand (also known as Strand Hotel) is a Victorian-style hotel located in Yangon, Myanmar (Burma), built by Aviet and Tigran Sarkie, two of the Sarkies Brothers. The hotel, which opened in 1901, which faces the Yangon River to its south, is one of the most famous hotels in Yangon and Southeast Asia, and is managed by GCP Hospitality. The hotel is named after its address, at 92 Strand Road.

The Tun Foundation Bank (Burmese: ထွန်းဖောင်ဒေးရှင်းဘဏ်) is a privately owned bank in Myanmar that was established on 8 June 1994. All the profits from this bank go into scholarships for children from poor families.

The Archdiocese of Yangon (Latin: Archidioecesis Yangonensis) is a Latin Church ecclesiastical territory or diocese of the Catholic Church in Myanmar. Charles Bo, SDB was appointed Archbishop of Yangon by Pope John Paul II on May 24, 2003.
