Čavle is a village and a municipality in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County in western Croatia. The municipality of Čavle is known for many cultural events such as the "Sausage Open", followed by the Grobnička Maskarani Weekend, the "Polenta and Cheese Festival", the Folk Theater Festival and the Bartojski Kettle.

Automotodrom Grobnik is a 4.168 km (2.590 mi) motorsport race track located in Čavle, 10 km (6.2 mi) north of Rijeka, Croatia. The circuit was built in 15 months and was opened in 14 September 1978. From 1978 to 1990, it hosted the Yugoslavian motorcycle Grand Prix of MotoGP. The circuit was renovated between December 2017 and April 2018.Currently, among other competitions, the automotodrom hosts the Croatia Prix, which is a valid race for the FIA CEZ Formula 3 Championship. In 2020, Rijeka also hosted NASCAR Whelen Euro Series rounds as a late replacement for Autodrom Most, whose round was cancelled late in the season due to COVID-19 restrictions. It has featured on the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series calendar also in 2021 and 2022, and it will feature on the 2023 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series as a non-championship all star endurance race.

Podhum is a village in Croatia. It is connected by the D52 highway. During World War II it was the site of the Podhum massacre of Croat civilians by Italian occupation forces; up to 118 people were killed and more than 800 were sent to Italian concentration camps, where many more also died in captivity.A large Spomenik monument in a park in Podhum now marks the place where Italian forces executed male villagers ranging in age from 16 to 60 years on July 14, 1942. The monument was designed by Croatian sculptor Šime Vulas (1932-2018).

Škrljevo is a village in Primorje, Croatia, located north of Bakar. The population is 1,344 (census 2011). Škrljevo was mentioned by name for the first time during the reign of Petar Zrinski, in a document from 1667. Near the railway station are the remains of the church of St. Ambroza, demolished in 1907.

The Orehovica interchange (Croatian: Čvor Orehovica) is a trumpet interchange in Rijeka, Croatia. The interchange represents the southern terminus of the A6 motorway and it connects the A6 route to the A7 motorway between Škurinje and Draga exits, also representing a part of Rijeka bypass. The interchange is a part of Pan-European corridor Vb. It also represents a junction of European routes E61 and E65.The interchange was originally executed as Zagreb–Rijeka motorway terminus exit, connecting the motorway to the city of Rijeka itself directly. Following construction of Rijeka bypass towards Škurinje (westward), the interchange was expanded, but it was still used as a motorway exit. Once the bypass, i.e. A7 motorway, was extended eastward to Sveti Kuzam, the motorway exit was scheduled to be cancelled. A subsequent intervention into the design documents allowed preservation of one directional ramp facilitating exit from the southbound A6 motorway at the interchange.

Trsat (Italian: Tersatto, Latin: Tarsatica) is part of the city of Rijeka, Croatia, with a historic castle or fortress in a strategic location and several historic churches, in one of which the Croatian noble Prince Vuk Krsto Frankopan is buried. Trsat is a steep hill, 138 m high, rising over the gorge of the Rječina river, about a kilometre away from the sea; strategically significant from the earliest times right up to the 17th century, it is today a major Christian pilgrimage centre and home to a statue of Pope John Paul II who came to Trsat as a Pilgrim in 2003. Today, the University of Rijeka's newly constructed campus lies in the western part of Trsat.
