Irvine Bay

The River Irvine (Scottish Gaelic: Irbhinn) is a river that flows through southwest Scotland. Its watershed is on the Lanarkshire border of Ayrshire at an altitude of 810 feet (250 m) above sea-level, near Loudoun Hill, Drumclog, and 7 miles (11 kilometres) SW by W of Strathaven. It flows 29+1⁄2 mi (47.5 km) westward, dividing the old district of Cunninghame from that of Kyle, until it reaches the sea via Irvine Harbour in the form of the Firth of Clyde, and flows into Irvine Bay by the town of Irvine. It has many tributaries, some of which form parish, district and other boundaries.

The Big Idea was a science centre located in the town of Irvine, North Ayrshire, Scotland. Located on the former Nobel Explosives manufacturing site on the Ardeer Peninsula, a new science and learning centre was planned in 2000 by the Millennium Commission, to celebrate the history of invention and inventors. An estimated £14 million was spent for the construction of the exhibition. After only 3 years of operation, the museum permanently closed in 2003 after a major decline in visitor numbers. As of 2024, no plans have been made for the former museum's redevelopment and it continues to lie abandoned on the peninsula.

Africa House (originally the South African Pavilion) is a Category B listed building in North Ayrshire, Scotland. It was designed by James Miller, or his son George, for the 1938 Empire Exhibition in Glasgow. It was originally a temporary structure built to house an exhibit of South African goods but after the exhibition was purchased by ICI Nobel. The company transported the structure to their explosives manufacturing plant in Ardeer, North Ayrshire. The structure was re-erected, though some decorative features were omitted, and, as Africa House, served as a kitchen and canteen for the company's staff. A two-storey concrete-framed extension was added to the structure in the 1960s. The canteen closed in 1994 and ICI Nobel left the Ardeer site in the mid 2000s. The site was purchased by Clowes Developments in 2006 but little work has been carried out since. The company was criticised for neglecting Africa House which suffered a partial roof collapse. In 2021 the developer applied for permission to demolish the structure on account of its condition, but the application was withdrawn.

Ardeer Platform railway station was a railway station serving the Nobel Industries division of Imperial Chemical Industries near the town of Stevenston, North Ayrshire, Scotland.

Ardeer was a small town now officially incorporated into Stevenston on the Ardeer peninsula, in the parish of Stevenston, North Ayrshire, originally an island and later its extensive sand dune system became the site of Nobel Explosives, a dominant global supplier of explosives to the mining and quarrying industries and a major player in the design and development of products for the chemical and defence industries during the 20th century. The peninsula is now part of North Ayrshire's most important area for Biodiversity.

Irvine Victoria Football Club is a Scottish football club, based in the town of Irvine, North Ayrshire. Nicknamed The Vics and "Westenders", it was formed in 1904 and plays at Victoria Park, in Irvine. Club colours are orange, blue and white stripes. Irvine Victoria play in the West of Scotland League Third Division. The club's local rival is Irvine Meadow XI.On 24 May 2018 Brian McLuckie became Manager of the club.On 10 June 2021 Brian McLuckie resigned as Manager of the club.On 28 June 2021 Irvine Vics announced Dougie MacDuff as their new manager.

Bogside railway station was a railway station serving the north of the town of Irvine, North Ayrshire, Scotland. The station was originally part of the Glasgow, Paisley, Kilmarnock and Ayr Railway (now the Ayrshire Coast Line).

Irvine Beat FM is a community radio station based in the North Ayrshire town of Irvine serving the Fullarton, Harbourside, Redburn, Vineburgh and Castlepark areas with a potential audience of 17,000.The station is a Scottish Registered Charity (SCIO) and is staffed mainly by volunteers with the addition of one full-time employee. The station broadcasts 24 hours a day on 107.2FM and online. The main aim of the station is to increase social conditions and health within the broadcast area, which is listed within the lowest 20% on the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation. Irvine Beat FM's playlist is a mix of chart hits from the 1960s through to current chart music. The station features a mix of presenters who have little radio experience, to various experienced professional presenters of all ages. Some names include Tommy Truesdale, Stuart Rodgers, Dawn Jamison, Chris Houston and Iain Rose. A number of former commercial West Sound Radio presenters are on the schedule. In August 2018, the station celebrated its first five years and also started a new five year licence. A special show was aired during the station’s usual Sunday Talk In slot that week. It was presented by Chris Houston and featured many of the station’s presenters. In March 2020 according to Irvine Beat FM’s website, Irvine Beat FM announced their studios would close as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. Some of their presenters would continue broadcasting from their homes. A major change to the scheduling happened and during lockdown, the majority of presenters remained on air including Lunchtime presenters Chris Houston and Barry Reilly. Stuart Rodgers was temporarily replaced by David Gallacher and Andy Rutherford. From 6 July 2020, the station’s schedule returned to normal with some presenters still broadcasting from their homes and some back in the studio.

The Stevenston Canal was a waterway in North Ayrshire, Scotland, built for Robert Reid Cunningham of Seabank (now Auchenharvie) and Patrick Warner of the Ardeer Estate, which ran to the port of Saltcoats from Ardeer, and Stevenston with a number of short branches to coal pits along the length of the cut. The canal opened on 19 September 1772, the first commercial canal in Scotland. It closed in the 1830s, when it was abandoned following the exhaustion of the coal mines and the rise of importance of Ardrossan as a harbour. At the time of its construction it was said to be the "most complete water system of colliery transport ever devised in Britain."
