Orewa (Māori: Ōrewa) is a settlement in the northern Auckland Region of New Zealand. It is a suburb of the Hibiscus Coast, just north of the base of the Whangaparāoa Peninsula and 40 kilometres (25 mi) north of central Auckland. The Northern Motorway, part of State Highway 1, passes just inland of Orewa and extends through the twin Johnston Hill tunnels to near Puhoi. Tāmaki Māori settled in the Orewa area since at least the 13th century, utilising the resources of the Ōrewa River and Whangaparāoa Bay, where an important shark fishery was located. After the Kawerau warrior Maki unified many of the Tāmaki Māori people of the northern and western Auckland Region, his younger son Maraeariki settled along the Ōrewa River. Kawerau hapū, including Ngāti Kahu, lived in the Orewa area until the mid-19th century. Orewa was a part of the Mahurangi Block, forest sold to the Crown in 1841. Kauri loggers and itinerant kauri gum diggers were among the first Europeans to come to Orewa, with the first permanent residents arriving in the 1840s and 1850s. Orewa House was constructed in 1856, becoming the de Jersey Grut family home for three generations, later run as a boarding house and accommodation by Alice and Edward Eaves. During the 1920s, Orewa became a popular destination for campers and holidayers. Orewa rapidly developed suburban housing in the 1950s and 1960s, in part due to the opening of the Auckland Harbour Bridge, with the town centre and Hillary Square developing from 1953. Further major developments at Orewa occurred in the 1980s and 2000s, and Orewa became the administrative centre for the Rodney District from 1989 to 2010. The town gained national press in 2004 when National Party leader Don Brash gave the Orewa Speech, in which he discussed race relations between Māori and Pākehā.

The Hibiscus and Bays Local Board is one of the 21 local boards of the Auckland Council. It is one of two boards overseen by the council's Albany Ward councillors. The board consists of eight members elected at large. The board's area is divided into the Hibiscus Coast subdivision and the East Coast Bays subdivision, the latter of which stretches as far south as Campbells Bay. The board area also includes Tiritiri Matangi Island, off the end of the Whangaparaoa Peninsula.

Orewa College is a state coeducational combined intermediate and secondary school located in Orewa, on the Hibiscus Coast north of Auckland, New Zealand. A total of 2014 students from Years 7 to 13 (ages 10 to 18) attend the school as of April 2023.

Alice Eaves Scenic Reserve, known colloquially as "Eaves Bush", is a 16ha forest located at the northern end of Orewa, in Auckland, New Zealand. It is named after Alice Caroline Eaves, whose family bequeathed the land to the nation in 1960.

The Ōrewa River is a river of the Auckland Region of New Zealand's North Island. It flows east to reach Whangaparāoa Bay just to the north of Whangaparaoa Peninsula. The town of Orewa is near the river's mouth.

Hatfields Beach is a northern coastal suburb of Auckland, in New Zealand. It is on the Hibiscus Coast Highway about 40 kilometres (by road) north of the city centre. In 2011, the beach was officially gazetted as Ōtānerua / Hatfields Beach.

Red Beach is a suburb surrounding the beach of the same name on the Hibiscus Coast, Auckland, New Zealand, at the base of the Whangaparaoa Peninsula. The suburb of Silverdale is to the south-west, and Orewa to the north.

Millwater is a northern suburb of Auckland, located in New Zealand. It is about 33 kilometres (by road) north of the city centre. The Auckland Northern Motorway and Orewa River form its western and northern boundaries respectively. Millwater was built on former farmland in 2005. Development is expected to be complete in 2022, with an anticipated population of 10,000.A companion suburb of Milldale is intended on the other side of the Northern Motorway, and this might include a new primary school for the area.

Waiwera Hot Pools is a hot springs system located in the small coastal village of Waiwera, just north of Auckland, New Zealand. They were known to the Māori people for centuries before being developed. In the 1960s and 70s overproduction and overpumping of the geothermal aquifer led to significant loss of pressure and desiccation of the springs in the late 1970. A decade later the thermal springs began to recover, although the system has not returned to the former artesian conditions.The commercial establishment, Waiwera Hot Pools, a large thermal spa and water park, was branded as Waiwera Infinity Thermal Spa Resort at the time of closure in 2018. The park had been New Zealand's largest water park. The complex claimed 350,000 visitors per year and consisted of 26 pools plus various slides. The park closed to visitors in February 2018.

Waiwera is a small town in the north of the Auckland Region in New Zealand. Waiwera is 6 km north of Orewa, 6 km south-east of Puhoi, 23 km south-east of Warkworth and approximately 35 km from the Auckland City centre. The settlement lies at the outlet of a river also called Waiwera. Less than 1 kilometre north of the Waiwera turn-off lies the turn-off to Wenderholm Regional Park which is situated on the far side of the headland to the north of the Waiwera River outlet.

Silverdale is a village approximately 30 km north of Auckland in the North Island of New Zealand. It is located on the north bank of the Weiti River and lies to the west of the Whangaparaoa Peninsula. State Highway 1 passes to the west of the village via the Northern Motorway. The former route of State Highway 1 runs south-west to north-east through the village. This route was redesignated State Highway 17 before being redesignated Hibiscus Coast Highway (part of Urban Route 31). This passes through Orewa and Waiwera before joining State Highway 1 at the termination of the motorway south of Puhoi. Hibiscus Coast busway station is the northernmost station participating in the Northern Busway. It is located on the Hibiscus Coast Highway a few hundred metres south-west of Silverdale.

The Waiwera River is a stream of the Auckland Region of New Zealand's North Island, near the township of Waiwera.
