Timber Neck Farm (formerly known as Laurel Grove) is a farm complex and national historic district in Faulkner, Charles County, Maryland, United States. The main house is a 2+1⁄2-story, L-shaped frame structure with a large double chimney.The Timber Neck Farm was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

St. Mary's Catholic Church, Newport is a historic parish located in Newport, Charles County, Maryland, established in 1674. Several churches have been built on the property over its history. At present there are two churches remaining, one built in 1840, deconsecrated in 1906 and no longer used for religious services, and the current church building, built in 1954. The historic 1840 church is a rectangular brick structure, four bays in length and three bays wide. It is of simple architectural styling typical of the Greek Revival period in this locality. Located on the property is the parish cemetery, which includes the burial plot of the Brent-Merrick family, including congressman William Duhurst Merrick (1793–1857). It has several impressively scaled and ornamented monuments enclosed within a decorative mid-19th century wrought iron fence. Other memorial stones bear the signature of "A. Geddess," who founded the long-active Geddess monument firm of Baltimore in 1822.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

Sarum is a historic home located at Newport, Charles County, Maryland, US. The oldest extant part of the house was built in 1717 by Joseph Pile on or near the site of his grandfather's 17th century house. It was a box-framed hall and parlor dwelling, 32 by 18 feet. A shed was added in 1736; later in the 1800s the ends were extended and new walls of brick were constructed giving the house its present dimensions. Sarum was patented to John Pile in 1662, and remained in the ownership of the Pile family until 1836. It is one of Maryland's finest small Colonial dwellings.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

Newburg is an unincorporated community in Charles County, Maryland, United States. Newburg has two stores, a lodge hall, and a fire department, as well as Piccowaxen Middle School and Dr. Thomas L. Higdon Elementary, both serving the entire Cobb Neck peninsula (i.e. all along MD 257 to Cobb Island). Newburg also is the northbound terminus of the Harry Nice Memorial Bridge serving U.S. Route 301.

Faulkner is an unincorporated community in Charles County, Maryland, United States. It is home to the Loyola Roman Catholic retreat center. Near here, John Wilkes Booth, assisted by Thomas A. Jones of Huckleberry Farm, was rowed across the Potomac River into Virginia, a week after he assassinated President Abraham Lincoln. The community was called Lothair before being renamed for a local resident. Landmarks include Mount Air, a Federal style house which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978 and Timber Neck Farm added in 1979.

Carpenter Point is a point of land on the Wicomico River in Charles County, Maryland. It is located on the northern shore of Cobb Neck on the tidal part of the Wicomico River, which was called the West Wicomico River in early colonial records to differentiate it from the Wicomico River on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. The land was originally part of or very near the western border of Captain James Neale's "Wollaston Manor" estate. Cooksey's Point is the next point to the west, and McReynolds Point the next point to the east.

Popes Creek is a 3.4-mile-long (5.5 km) stream in Charles County, Maryland and a tributary of the Potomac River.

Popes Creek is an unincorporated community in Charles County, Maryland, United States. It is located on the shore of a north–south section of the Potomac River, north of and in sight of the Harry Nice Memorial Bridge. There are docks and two seafood restaurants. U.S. Route 301 in Maryland runs north from the bridge, somewhat isolating the area between the river and the highway. To the north is Port Tobacco and to the southeast, the Cobb Island peninsula. Popes Creek is home to the Loyola Roman Catholic retreat center. Near here, John Wilkes Booth was rowed across the river, a week after he assassinated President Abraham Lincoln. Popes Creek (Virginia) is on the Virginia shore, approximately 15 miles (24 km) southeast.

Mount Air is a historic home located at Faulkner, Charles County, Maryland, United States. It was built in 1801, and is basically a regionally typical Federal style house with a three-story central block with complementary wings. The home has the only known boxwood garden in lower Southern Maryland of its dimensions and age to retain its original formal plan.Mount Air was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

Rich Hill, near Bel Alton, Maryland, was owned by Colonel Samuel Cox, a Confederate sympathizer during the American Civil War. Following the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln on April 14, 1865, Cox hid assassin John Wilkes Booth and his companion, David Herold, in a swamp near Rich Hill. Booth and Herold left the property on April 21, crossing the Potomac River in a small boat.Following Booth's capture, Cox was tried and convicted of aiding Booth, receiving a light sentence. The house is significant in its own right, showing characteristic features of southern Maryland house construction. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

Bel Alton is an unincorporated community in Charles County, Maryland, United States. It is marked by old-style motels, a popular "bikers'" tavern, and other small businesses along U.S. Route 301 catering to local residents and interstate travelers. A series of interpretive signs on a side road mark various spots where, in April 1865, John Wilkes Booth stopped to hide during his flight south after assassinating President Abraham Lincoln. St. Ignatius Church and Cemetery, the oldest continuous Roman Catholic parish in the United States (although this claim is contested by another church in New Mexico), is two miles west of Bel Alton on a scenic bluff overlooking a wide inlet of the Potomac River. The county fairgrounds are also nearby. The former Bel Alton African American high school building is now used for community activities. Before 1891, Bel Alton was known as Cox's Station after a local resident. The area is poised for growth as construction has started on a housing development, "Stagecoach Crossing", two miles north. Rich Hill was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.
