Newport is an unincorporated community in Charles County, Maryland, United States. Sarum was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church is a historic Roman Catholic church listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

Carpenter Point is a point of land on the Wicomico River in Charles County, Maryland. It is located on the northern shore of Cobb Neck on the tidal part of the Wicomico River, which was called the West Wicomico River in early colonial records to differentiate it from the Wicomico River on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. The land was originally part of or very near the western border of Captain James Neale's "Wollaston Manor" estate. Cooksey's Point is the next point to the west, and McReynolds Point the next point to the east.

St. Mary's Catholic Church, Newport is a historic parish located in Newport, Charles County, Maryland, established in 1674. Several churches have been built on the property over its history. At present there are two churches remaining, one built in 1840, deconsecrated in 1906 and no longer used for religious services, and the current church building, built in 1954. The historic 1840 church is a rectangular brick structure, four bays in length and three bays wide. It is of simple architectural styling typical of the Greek Revival period in this locality. Located on the property is the parish cemetery, which includes the burial plot of the Brent-Merrick family, including congressman William Duhurst Merrick (1793–1857). It has several impressively scaled and ornamented monuments enclosed within a decorative mid-19th century wrought iron fence. Other memorial stones bear the signature of "A. Geddess," who founded the long-active Geddess monument firm of Baltimore in 1822.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

Zekiah Swamp is part of the Potomac River basin in Charles County, Maryland in the United States. The swamp is 21 miles (34 km) of braided stream stretching the length of Charles County and is a tributary of the Potomac River. It sits at an elevation of three feet (0.91 m) and 450 acres (180 ha) of its southern end is protected as the Zekiah Swamp Natural Environment Area. The Maryland Department of Natural Resources has the authority to purchase an additional 5,000 acres (2,000 ha) for the park. Charles County has moved to protect an additional 65,000 acres (26,000 ha) of the wetland. The headwaters of the swamp are protected as part of Cedarville State Forest. It was first accurately surveyed by John Henry Alexander, Maryland's official cartographer, in 1835, as "Allen's Fresh".

Mount Victoria is an unincorporated community in southern Charles County, Maryland, United States, between the Wicomico and Potomac Rivers. It was named for an enormous farm of 15,000 acres (61 km2) owned by Robert Crain, an attorney and farmer whose lobbying efforts led to the opening in 1927 of the Maryland portion of U.S. Highway 301. This farm was said at the time to be the largest private landholding in Maryland.

Potomac Speedway is a 3/8 mile clay oval raceway located in Budds Creek, Maryland, near Charlotte Hall. The raceway was first raced on in 1973. Races are typically held on Friday or Saturday nights. Regular events include Super Late Models, Limited Late Models, Street Stocks, and Hobby Stocks and 4 cylinders. The speedway also holds events for Modifieds, Crate Late Models, Strictly Stocks and Hornets. Potomac Speedway has a seating capacity of about 4,000 in the main grandstands and can hold an additional 1,000 in the pit area. The speedway typically draws top drivers from Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware and West Virginia. Greg Gunter is the current promoter of the track.

Timber Neck Farm (formerly known as Laurel Grove) is a farm complex and national historic district in Faulkner, Charles County, Maryland, United States. The main house is a 2+1⁄2-story, L-shaped frame structure with a large double chimney.The Timber Neck Farm was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

Newburg is an unincorporated community in Charles County, Maryland, United States. Newburg has two stores, a lodge hall, and a fire department, as well as Piccowaxen Middle School and Dr. Thomas L. Higdon Elementary, both serving the entire Cobb Neck peninsula (i.e. all along MD 257 to Cobb Island). Newburg also is the northbound terminus of the Harry Nice Memorial Bridge serving U.S. Route 301.

Dentsville is an unincorporated community in Charles County, Maryland, United States, marked by a convenience store dating from the turn of the 20th century, two cemeteries, and adjacent small businesses, including the Dentsville Rescue Squad and Auxiliary founded in 1998 on Maryland Route 6, east of La Plata. Dentsville was named after the Dent family, who have resided locally since colonial times. Dentsville's first appearance on a map of Maryland dates from 1886.

Tompkinsville is a populated place in Charles County, Maryland. It was the site of a post office. William J. Frere lived there.

Faulkner is an unincorporated community in Charles County, Maryland, United States. It is home to the Loyola Roman Catholic retreat center. Near here, John Wilkes Booth, assisted by Thomas A. Jones of Huckleberry Farm, was rowed across the Potomac River into Virginia, a week after he assassinated President Abraham Lincoln. The community was called Lothair before being renamed for a local resident. Landmarks include Mount Air, a Federal style house which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978 and Timber Neck Farm added in 1979.

Waverley is a historic home located near Morgantown, Charles County, Maryland. It is a large two story, five-bay, Flemish-bond brick house, that faces the Potomac River. All interior woodwork is characteristic of the Federal period.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.
