The James Allen House, also known as Scarlet Gate, in Lexington, Kentucky, was the home of writer James Lane Allen. The house, originally a 2-story Federal design, dates from the 1790s, and in the original section numbered rafters are joined with wooden pegs. The south wing of the house had been constructed prior to arrival of the Allen family in 1851, and the north wing was added in the 1930s, over a large room constructed earlier in the 20th century. The James Allen House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.Allen described the house in his introduction to A Kentucky Cardinal, written in 1894 and published by Harper & Brothers in 1895, although he may not have lived in the house after 1872.In 2011 The Lexington School purchased the Allen House and its surrounding 12.6 acres.

Calumet Farm is a 762-acre (3.08 km2) Thoroughbred breeding and training farm established in 1924 in Lexington, Kentucky, United States by William Monroe Wright, founding owner of the Calumet Baking Powder Company. Calumet is located in the heart of the Bluegrass, a well-known horse breeding region. Calumet Farm has a record history of Kentucky Derby and Triple Crown winners and 11 horses in the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame.

Beaumont Centre is a neighborhood and major retail and office park in southwestern Lexington, Kentucky, United States. Its boundaries are New Circle Road to the north, the older Harrods Hill neighborhood to the south, Man o' War Boulevard to the west, and Harrodsburg Road to the east. The area was one of the last undeveloped areas off New Circle Road, development began in the early 1990s. New Circle Road (Lexington's inner beltway) blocks direct access between Beaumont Centre and nearby the Beaumont Park or Garden Springs neighborhoods. Venue MoonDance Amphitheater was built in 2010 by developers Tim and Andy Haymaker. Located in the heart of Beaumont Centre circle, this performance and event venue offers a diverse lineup of movies, food fairs, and summer concerts, with lawn seating. Known for its live music on the grounds on warm summer nights. The events feature anywhere from local to national artistic talent.Craft beer and food trucks are onsite and available at most events. Cardinal Valley is a neighborhood in northwestern Lexington, Kentucky, United States. Its boundaries are Versailles Road to the south, Norfolk Southern railroad tracks to the north, Forbes Road to the east, and Cambridge Drive/Oxford Circle to the west.Established in the late 1950s through the early 1960s. Cardinal Valley was a typical post-war baby-boomer sub-division filled with young families. Most homes were pre-fab (some by National Homes) and originally cost between $10,000-$15,000. Cardinal Valley Elementary School on Mandalay Road was completed in time for the 1962 school year. The school originally had 2 wings with grades 1 through 3 housed in the east wing, and grades 4 through 6 in the west wing. A one and two-story addition at the end of the west wing was completed in 1967 to accommodate the school's new library and expanding fifth and sixth grade classes. Cardinal Valley Park was the predecessor to Valley Park and was located in the front parking lot of Cardinal Valley School during the summer months. After several years, Valley Park was erected in the north-east section of the neighborhood, accessed from Deauville Dr. In recent decades, Cardinal Valley has become the hub of Hispanic immigrant culture in Lexington.Cardinal Valley was also the childhood home of comedian Jim Varney who is best known for his roles as character "Ernest P. Worrell" in numerous commercials, TV specials, and cinema.
