The Lexington-Fayette–Richmond–Frankfort combined statistical area, created by the United States Bureau of the Census in 2020, is the 71st largest Combined Statistical Area (CSA) of the United States. It consists of the Lexington-Fayette Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) and the Micropolitan Statistical Areas (which is abbreviated as μSA) of Frankfort, Kentucky, Mount Sterling, and Richmond-Berea. • Populations are based upon published estimates by the United States Bureau of the Census. ¹Census defined area did not exist during this census. The Bluegrass region is a geographic region in the U.S. state of Kentucky. It makes up the central and northern part of the state, roughly bounded by the cities of Frankfort, Paris, Richmond and Stanford. It is part of the Interior Low Plateaus ecoregion. "Bluegrass" is a common name given in the United States for grass of the Poa genus, the most famous being the Kentucky bluegrass. Despite its name, Kentucky Bluegrass is native to Europe and was likely introduced around 1600.

The Lexington-Fayette metropolitan area is the 109th-largest metropolitan statistical area (MSA) in the United States. It was originally formed by the United States Census Bureau in 1950 and consisted solely of Fayette County until 1980 when surrounding counties saw increases in their population densities and the number of their residents employed within Lexington-Fayette, which led to them meeting Census criteria to be added to the MSA. The Lexington-Fayette MSA is the primary MSA of the Lexington-Fayette–Richmond–Frankfort, KY combined statistical area which includes the Micropolitan Statistical Areas of Frankfort (Franklin and Anderson counties), Mount Sterling (Montgomery, Bath, and Menifee counties), and Richmond–Berea (Madison and Rockcastle counties). The Lexington-Fayette–Frankfort–Richmond, KY combined statistical area has a July 1, 2012 Census Bureau estimated population of 703,271.

Kirklevington is a neighborhood in southeastern in Lexington, Kentucky, United States. Its boundaries are West Hickman Creek to the west, New Circle Road to the north, Tates Creek Road to the east, and Wilson Downing Road to the south.

Zandale is a neighborhood in southeastern Lexington, Kentucky, United States. Its boundaries are Nicholasville Road to the west, Zandale Drive to the north, Bellefonte Drive to the east, and a combination of Larkin Road, Heather Way, Melbourne Way, and Lowry Lane to the south.

Shadeland is a neighborhood in southeastern Lexington, Kentucky, United States. Its boundaries are the University of Kentucky Arboretum to the north and west, Glendover Road to the south, and Tates Creek Road to the east.

Southern Heights is a neighborhood in southwestern Lexington, Kentucky, United States. Its boundaries are the University of Kentucky Arboretum and Central Baptist Hospital to the north, Nicholasville Road to the west, and Edgemoor Drive/Blueberry Road to the south.

The Arboretum, State Botanical Garden of Kentucky (Also known as University of Kentucky Arboretum or Lexington Arboretum), 40 hectares or 100 acres (0.40 km2), is located at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky, United States. It is open to the public from dawn to dusk every day of the year. The Arboretum hosts 18 tree species native to Kentucky, as well as 80 other native Kentucky plant species. In total, the Arboretum contains more than 1,200 native species.It contains the Kentucky Children's Garden, a Home Demonstration Garden which includes a Vegetable Garden, Herb Garden, Home Fruit and Nuts Garden, a rose garden, a fragrance garden, (including Black, Persian and Japanese Walnuts, Pecan, Shellbark and Shagbark Hickory, Chinese Chestnut as well as dwarf apple cultivars, an American Persimmon and native Pawpaw trees), the All-America Selection Trials Garden, Perennial Collection, Ground Cover Demonstration, Woody Plant Collection, and a "Walk Across Kentucky" that simulates Kentucky's seven regional landscapes: Bluegrass, Knobs, Appalachian Plateaus, Cumberland Mountains, Mississippian Plateaus and Outer Nashville Basin (Pennyroyal), Shawnee Hills, Mississippi Embayment and Alluvial Basin (Jackson Purchase). The separate areas allow the Arboretum to create different learning events based on different parts of Kentucky. The Arboretum is also used widely as a learning environment, bringing in classes from local schools to come and learn with hands-on experiences, like the life cycle of a butterfly. Older nature enthusiasts can attend demonstrations in the home garden demonstration garden.

The Mall at Lexington Green is a hybrid enclosed shopping mall and outdoor lifestyle center in Lexington, Kentucky. Adjacent to Target and Fayette Mall, Lexington Green is ideally located at the intersection of New Circle and Nicholasville Roads just north of the region's largest retail development. Lexington Green's signature cupolas and lakefront shopping provide an oasis in the midst of Lexington, Kentucky's busiest intersection. The University of Kentucky Soccer Complex (or UK Soccer Complex) is a soccer-specific stadium in Lexington, Kentucky on the campus of the University of Kentucky. The stadium, which opened in 1996, is home to Kentucky Wildcats soccer, both men's (Sun Belt Conference) and women's (Southeastern Conference). It usually seats 1,500 but can seat 3,000. The stadium served as host of the 1996 SEC Women's Soccer Tournament. The University of Kentucky has recently changed the name of their soccer complex to the Wendell and Vickie Bell Soccer Complex in the year of 2014. Its capacity can now hold up to 3,370 people. Combined with the 2011 additions of a $600,000 playing surface, a new video tower and a video board, it sets the standard for college soccer facilities.

Lexington Theological Seminary is a private Christian seminary in Lexington, Kentucky. Although it is related to the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), it is intentionally ecumenical with almost 50 percent of its enrollment coming from other denominations. Lexington Theological Seminary is accredited by Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada to award Master of Divinity, Master of Theological Studies, Master of Pastoral Studies, and Doctor of Ministry degrees.
