Upperlands (from Irish Áth an Phoirt Leathain, meaning 'ford of the broad (river) bank') is a small village in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. It is situated 3 miles north east of Maghera. It lies within the civil parish of Maghera, the historic barony of Loughinsholin, and is situated within Mid-Ulster District. In the 2011 Census it had a population of 561 people.

Upperlands railway station was on the Derry Central Railway which ran from Magherafelt to Macfin Junction in Northern Ireland. The station served Upperlands.

Culnady (named after the townland of Culnady) is a small village near Maghera in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. In the 2001 Census it had a population of 144 people. It is situated within Mid-Ulster District.

St. Patrick's College, also known as St. Patrick's Co-Ed Comprehensive College, is a co-educational 11–18 secondary school in Maghera, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. It teaches within the Roman Catholic ethos. The school is widely regarded as one of Ireland's most successful athletic schools, having won Six All-Ireland senior football titles, most recently in 2025.

Maghera ( MA-hə-RAH, MAK-ə-RAH; from Irish Machaire Rátha, meaning 'plain of the ringfort') is a small town at the foot of the Glenshane Pass in Northern Ireland. Its population was 4,235 in the 2021 census. Formerly in the barony of Loughinsholin within the historic County Londonderry, it is today in the local-government district of Mid-Ulster.

Ballynahone Bog (from Irish Baile na hAbhann 'townland of the river') is a raised bog, situated in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland, about 3 km south of Maghera, on low-lying ground immediately north of the Moyola River about 14 km from its mouth at Lough Neagh. Players are drawn from Maghera and some surrounding townlands. The club competes in Gaelic football, ladies' Gaelic football and camogie.

Craigadick is a townland lying within the civil parish of Maghera, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. It lies in the west of the parish sharing a small boundary with Killelagh civil parish. It is bounded by the townlands of; Ballynahone Beg, Craigmore, Falgortrevy, Largantogher, Moneymore, Mullagh, Tamnymullan, and Tullyheran. It wasn't apportioned to any of the London livery companies, being kept as church lands. The townland in 1926 was part of Maghera district electoral division as part of the Maghera dispensary (registrar's) district of Magherafelt Rural District. As part of Maghera civil parish, Craigadick also lies within the former barony of Loughinsholin.

Falgortrevy is a townland lying within the Civil parishes in Ireland of Maghera, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. It lies on the western boundary of the parish and is divided into two portions; Falgortrevy (main portion) and Falgortrevy (detached portion), separated by small portions of the townlands of Craigadick and Tullyheran. The detached portion is also bounded by the townlands of Craigmore and Tirnony, whilst the main portion is also bounded by the townlands of Ballynahone Beg and Fallagloon. It wasn't apportioned to any of the London livery companies, being kept as church lands. The townland in 1926 was part of Tullykeeran district electoral division as part of the Maghera dispensary (registrar's) district of Magherafelt Rural district. Falgortrevy as part of Maghera civil parish also lies in the historic barony of Loughinsholin.

Ballynacross is a townland lying within the civil parish of Maghera, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. It lies in the south of the parish on the north boundary of the civil parish of Termoneeny, and is bounded by the townlands of Cabragh, Carricknakielt, Derganagh, Gulladuff, and Slaghtybogy. It was apportioned to the Vintners company. The townland in 1926 was part of Gulladuff district electoral division as part of Magherafelt Rural District. As part of Maghera civil parish, Ballynacross also lies within the historic barony of Loughinsholin.

Erin's Own GAC Lavey (Irish: Leamhaigh CLG) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the Catholic parish of Lavey, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. The club is a member of the Derry GAA and currently caters for Gaelic football, hurling, camogie and ladies' Gaelic football. The club's biggest success came when it won the 1991 All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship. They have won the Ulster Senior Club Football Championship twice and have won the Derry Senior Football Championship on eight occasions. The club has won the Derry Senior Hurling Championship 19 times. Lavey won Club of the Year at the 1990 Ulster GAA Writers' Association Awards.Underage teams up to U-12s play in south Derry GAA league and championships, and teams from U-14 upwards compete in All-Derry competitions.

Gulladuff (from Irish Guala Dhubh, meaning 'black shoulders') is a small village and townland in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. In the 2001 Census it had a population of 405 people. It is situated within Mid-Ulster District. Gulladuff is home to a Mid-Ulster Sinn Féin Centre, an Irish republican garden of remembrance and Lavey GAC grounds.
