Gilbert is an unincorporated community in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 430 in the 2020 census.The Pohopoco Creek runs southward through Gilbert, then westward through Beltzville Lake to the Lehigh River. Students in the village attend the Pleasant Valley School District.

Pleasant Valley School District is a mid-sized, rural, public school district in the west end of Monroe County, Pennsylvania in the United States. The district encompasses approximately 114 square miles (300 km2) including: Chestnuthill, Eldred, Polk, and Ross Townships, as well as communities in them, such as Brodheadsville. As of 2000, the school district served a resident population of 29,051. By 2010, the U.S. Census Bureau reported the district's population increased to 33,891 people. In 2009, the district residents' per capita income was $19,853, while the median family income was $51,433. In the Commonwealth, the median family income was $49,501 and the United States median family income was $49,445, in 2010. The educational attainment levels for the school district population (25 years old and over) were 89.5% high school graduates and 17.9% college graduates.

As of the 2020-21 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,313 students.The school's name was given by its founder, John C. Mills, who took it from a common name for the area used by the locals. Pleasant Valley High School is located on U.S. Route 209. The building was built in 1960 and renovated in 2005. The school had 1,569 students as of the 2018–2019 school year.

Pohopoco Creek (locally known as Big Creek) is a tributary of the Lehigh River in Monroe and Carbon Counties in Pennsylvania in the United States. The creek is 27.8 miles (44.7 km) long and its watershed is 111 square miles (287 km2) in area. Beltzville Lake is formed by its damming by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Pohopoco's mouth is in Parryville. It was historically known as Heads Creek, Pocho Pochto Creek, Pohopoko Creek, and Poopoke Creek.

It is split between the Effort ZIP code of 18330 and the Kunkletown ZIP code of 18058.Trexler Boy Scout Reservation is located just southeast of Jonas. Polk Township Volunteer Fire Company has their sub-station located behind Hotel Jonas on Jonas Road. It currently housed their retired 1954 GMC along with an active engine and utility truck.Hotel Jonas is a big part of the Village of Jonas and has been around for many years. Jonas Snyder purchased the original inn building and surrounding land in 1858 and his family built the existing hotel in 1901. The Jonas Hotel began as a small inn that was known as "Sterner's", a rest stop for early travelers through northeastern Pennsylvania. It was situated on a stagecoach road that connected the southwestern end of the Pocono area with towns to the north such as White Haven and cities of Wilkes-Barre and Scranton. The road is presently named State Highway 534.
