Battle of Tunmen

The Battle of Sincouwaan (traditional Chinese: 茜草灣之戰; simplified Chinese: 茜草湾之战; pinyin: Qiàncǎo Wān zhī Zhàn), also known as Battle of Veniaga Island (Portuguese: Batalha da Ilha da Veniaga) was a naval battle between the Ming dynasty coast guard and a Portuguese fleet led by Martim Afonso de Mello that occurred in 1522. The Ming court threatened to expel Portuguese traders from China after receiving news that the Malacca Sultanate, a Ming tributary, had been invaded by the Portuguese. In addition, the Portuguese had been conducting piracy, acquiring slaves on the Chinese coast to sell in Portuguese Malacca, and preventing other foreigners from trading in China. Portuguese traders were executed in China and a Portuguese embassy was arrested, with their freedom promised on the condition that the Portuguese returned Malacca to its sultan. Martim Afonso de Mello arrived at the Pearl River but was blockaded by a Ming fleet despite his offers of amends. After two weeks without being able to gain a foothold in China they decided to run the blockade and managed to escape with the loss of two ships and several dozen men. The battle was fought off the northwestern coast of Lantau Island, Hong Kong at a location called Sai Tso Wan today.

Marina Garden Ferry Pier (Chinese: 慧豐園碼頭) was a ferry pier outside Marina Garden (Chinese: 慧豐園) in Tuen Mun south, New Territories, Hong Kong. It is located close to Tuen Mun Ferry Pier and Light Rail Tuen Mun Ferry Pier stop. It provided one ferry route to Tung Chung, Sha Lo Wan and Tai O on Lantau Island, which is operated by Fortune Ferry Company (富裕小輪公司), but the pier was relocated to nearby Tuen Mun Ferry Pier in 2009.

Castle Peak Beach (Chinese: 青山灣泳灘) is a gazetted beach in Tuen Mun, Hong Kong, beside Sam Shing Estate. It looks onto Castle Peak Bay and the Tuen Mun typhoon shelter, although it is separated from the typhoon shelter by a breakwater. The beach comprises 2.97 hectares and has a swimming zone of 0.8 hectares protected by a shark net. It was closed from 1981 to 2005 due to water pollution. In the summer months it is staffed by lifeguards of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD).

Miami Beach Towers (traditional Chinese: 邁亞美海灣; simplified Chinese: 迈亚美海湾; Jyutping: maai6 aa3 mei5 hoi2 waan1; pinyin: Màiyàměi Hǎiwān) is a private housing estate located in Tuen Mun, New Territories, Hong Kong near Light Rail Tuen Mun Ferry Pier stop. It was built by Sino Land on land reclaimed from Castle Peak Bay.

Castle Peak Bay Immigration Centre (CIC, Chinese: 青山灣入境事務中心 is an immigration detention centre located in Tuen Mun, Hong Kong. 7,942 persons were held at CIC in 2015 who were slated for expulsion from Hong Kong.

Hong Kong Chu Hai College is a private degree-granting institute in Tuen Mun, New Territories, Hong Kong. At present, Chu Hai College is recognised as an Approved Post Secondary College under the Post Secondary Colleges Ordinance (Cap 320).

Sam Shing Estate (Chinese: 三聖邨) is a public housing estate in Tuen Mun, New Territories, Hong Kong, near Light Rail Sam Shing stop and Castle Peak Beach. Built on the reclaimed land of Castle Peak Bay, it is the third public housing estate in Tuen Mun and the estate consists of 3 residential blocks completed in 1980. It was named for nearby Sam Shing Hui, a fishing village in the district, and most of the residents in the estate were fishermen.

Sam Shing Hui (Chinese: 三聖墟) is an area and a former fishing village in Tuen Mun, Tuen Mun District, Hong Kong.

Golden Beach (Chinese: 黃金泳灘) is located at 18+1⁄2 miles of Castle Peak Road in So Kwun Wat, New Territories, Hong Kong. It is contiguous with the adjacent Cafeteria New Beach‌ and Cafeteria Old Beach to its northwest. Golden Beach is the largest public beach in Tuen Mun District with a total area of 78,500 m2 (845,000 sq ft) and a length of 545 metres (1,788 ft). The water quality is usually classified as Grade 2 (Fair). Tropical trees, like coconut, and flowers of various species are planted on both sides of a 480-metre-long (1,570 ft) promenade running parallel to the beach. Refreshment kiosks, a hotel, and a shopping centre are located adjacent to the beach. There is a volleyball court at the beach, which is a unique feature amongst the beaches of Hong Kong. The Hong Kong national beach volleyball team occasionally practise on Golden Beach.

Hong Kong Gold Coast Hotel is a five-star hotel and conference centre at 1 Castle Peak Road, So Kwun Wat, Tuen Mun District, New Territories, Hong Kong. The hotel is a part of Hong Kong Gold Coast, which was developed by Sino Group and completed in 1993, offering a total of 453 guest rooms. Besides the hotel, the area includes a yacht club, country club, marina, shopping mall and residential buildings.

Sam Shing (Chinese: 三聖) is an MTR Light Rail terminus located on the ground near Hoi Wing Road, inside Hanford Garden and next to Sam Shing Estate in Tuen Mun District, Hong Kong. It began service on 2 February 1992 and belongs to Zone 1. It serves Sam Shing Estate and Hanford Garden. There are three platforms in the terminus. Platform 1 is the terminus of route 505. Platform 2 is reserved for emergency use. Platform 3 is for alighting. The stop was named Sam Shing Terminus (三聖總站) before 13 June 2010.

Tuen Mun Ferry Pier (Chinese: 屯門碼頭) is an MTR Light Rail terminus located at ground level inside Pierhead Garden, Tuen Mun Ferry Pier, Wu Chui Road in Tuen Mun, Tuen Mun District, Hong Kong. It began service on 18 September 1988, and belongs to Zone 1. It serves Tuen Mun Ferry Pier and nearby residential buildings. The terminus has seven platforms. Platform 2 is used for route 507, platform 3 for routes 615 and 615P, platform 4 for route 610, and platform 5 for routes 614 and 614P. Platforms 1 and 6 are reserved for backup purposes, while Platform 7 is for alighting only. It also has a customer service centre and a bus terminus. This stop has the largest number of terminating lines in the Light Rail system (six).
