The Edersee Dam is a hydroelectric dam spanning the Eder river in northern Hesse, Germany. Constructed between 1908 and 1914, it lies near the small town of Waldeck at the northern edge of the Kellerwald. Breached by Allied bombs during World War II, it was rebuilt during the war, and today generates hydroelectric power and regulates water levels for shipping on the Weser river. At low water in late summers of dry years the remnants of three villages (Asel, Bringhausen, and Berich) and a bridge across the original river bed submerged when the lake was filled in 1914 can be seen. Descendants of those buried there go to visit the graves of their ancestors.

Waldeck Pumped Storage Station (in German: Pumpspeicherkraftwerk Waldeck) is one of the largest pumped storage power stations in Germany. It is located in the Waldeck-Frankenberg district in the municipality Edertal near the town Waldeck in the northern part of the state Hesse and is owned by German electric utility E.ON. The power station consists of two parts with a common lower reservoir (Affoldener See).

The Edersee, also known as the Ederstausee, is an 11.8 km2 (4.6 sq mi) reservoir in Waldeck-Frankenberg, Hesse, Germany with 199.3 million m3 (7.04 billion cu ft) of storage space. It has the 2nd largest area (behind the Forggensee), and the 3rd largest volume (behind the Bleilochstausee and Rurstausee), of all reservoirs in Germany. It is located on the Fulda Tributary of Eder behind the 48 m-high (157 ft) Edersee Dam near the town of Waldeck in the Waldeck-Frankenberg district of North Hesse. The Eder Dam (dam and reservoir) is owned by the Federal Waterways and Shipping Administration, with the Hann. Münden Waterways and Shipping Office being responsible. The primary purpose of the dam is to provide water for the federal waterways Oberweser and Mittellandkanal. It also serves to protect downstream residents from small and medium floods, to generate electrical energy and for recreation. Situated in the Naturpark Kellerwald-Edersee and the Nationalpark Kellerwald-Edersee and overlooked by Waldeck Castle, Lake Edersee and its surroundings form a large recreational area.

Heiligenberg is a mountain of Hesse, Germany. It is located between Altendorf to the north and Heimarshausen to the south of the Naumburgh township in the district of Kassel. It lies in the East Waldeck Border Lowlands (Ostwaldecker Randsenken) of the West Hesse Highlands (Westhessisches Bergland), and is covered with a mixed deciduous and evergreen forest. It lies within the Habichtswald Nature Park. The Elbe, a northern tributary of the Eder, runs east past the mountain. On the southeast flank of the Heiligenberg, at 318.2 m, is the giant stone of Heimarshausen (Riesenstein von Heimarshausen), a roughly 9 m high, jagged and white-red sandstone rock, which in prehistoric times was a site of sacrifice, a place of worship and an observatory and is today designated as a natural monument.

It was a gallery grave belonging to the Late Neolithic Wartberg culture. The Altenburg tomb is of special significance in Central European prehistory because of the large number of individuals it contained.
