Brinkerhoff Street Historic District

W. W. Hartwell House & Dependencies, also known as Regina Maria Retreat House, is a historic home located at Plattsburgh in Clinton County, New York. It was built about 1870 and is an elaborate stone mansion featuring a three-story tower with a Mansard roof in the Second Empire style. The house is set among park-like landscaping. Also on the property are a cottage and a stone carriage house.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Plattsburgh is a city in, and the seat of, Clinton County, New York, United States, situated on the north-western shore of Lake Champlain. The population was 19,841 at the 2020 census. The population of the surrounding (and separately incorporated) Town of Plattsburgh was 11,886 as of the 2020 census, making the combined population of Plattsburgh to be 31,727. Plattsburgh lies just to the northeast of Adirondack Park, immediately outside of the park boundaries. It is the second largest community in the North Country region (after Watertown), and serves as the main commercial hub for the sparsely populated northern Adirondack Mountains. The land around what is referred to as Plattsburgh was previously inhabited by the Iroquois, Western Abenaki, Mohican and Mohawk people. Samuel de Champlain was the first ever recorded European that sailed into Champlain Valley and later claimed the region as a part of New France in 1609.Plattsburgh was the site of the amphibious Battle of Plattsburgh in the War of 1812, a key American victory that marked the end of hostilities in the Northern United States. It has been an important military outpost for much of its history, from hosting one of the largest Citizens' Military Training Camps prior to World War I, and Plattsburgh Air Force Base, the east coast center of operations for the Strategic Air Command during much of the Cold War period. The conversion of the base to a civilian airport in the 1990s resulted from the Base Realignment and Closure process during the wind down of the Cold War, and today it serves as a hub for economic development for the region. The city was named one of the Financial Times Top 10 Micro City of the Future several times.

Strand Theater, now called the Strand Center Theatre, is a historic theater located at Plattsburgh in Clinton County, New York. It was built in 1924 as the premier theater in Plattsburgh and designed in the Classical Revival style. It consists of a vestibule, main lobby, mezzanine, auditorium, and stage with supporting spaces. It has seating for 950 people. It was in continuous use as a movie theater until 2005, when it was purchased by the North Country Cultural Center for the Arts (NCCCA) with the goal of restoring it to its historic grandeur. This restoration took 10 years and $4 million to complete. In 2014 the NCCCA changed its legal name to The Strand Center for the Arts which includes this beautiful Strand Center Theatre but also the Federal Building next door which houses administration, gallery space and arts education classes. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.

Court Street Historic District is a national historic district located at Plattsburgh in Clinton County, New York. The residential district includes 51 contributing buildings. The district generally consists of large scale Queen Anne or Colonial Revival style residences built in the early 20th century, with some examples of mid-19th century Greek Revival and Italianate style residences.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

First Presbyterian Church is a historic Presbyterian church located at 34 Brinkerhoff Street in Plattsburgh, Clinton County, New York. It was originally built between 1812 and 1816; after a fire destroyed the structure in 1867, it was rebuilt in the same location between 1868 and 1873. It is a rectangular limestone Gothic Revival style church. It has a slate gable roof and buttresses. It features arched openings and a central square bell tower with tall spire and embedded clocks on each side.The congregation officially formed in 1797, after having met since at least 1792. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church and Rectory is a historic Roman Catholic church and rectory located at 20 Broad Street in Plattsburgh, Clinton County, New York. Both structures were added to the National Register of Historic Places as one record in 1982.

D'Youville Academy is a historic school building and nunnery in Plattsburgh in Clinton County, New York. It was built about 1878 and is a 2+1⁄2-story, cruciform plan brick structure on a raised stone foundation. The facade features a rounded 2-story bay, a five-gable roof dormer, and Mansard roof. The Academy was founded about 1878 and operated by the Grey Nuns, founded by Saint Marie-Marguerite d'Youville (1701-1771). The Academy has since been folded into the Seton Catholic Central High School, and the building has since been converted into apartments. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Z. Ritchie House is a historic home located at Plattsburgh in Clinton County, New York. It was built between 1856 and 1869 and is a two-story, frame dwelling on a stone foundation in the Gothic Revival style. It features a cross-gable roof, decorative bargeboards, and a one-story projecting bay with ornate balustrade.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The Clinton County Courthouse Complex is a historic county government and courthouse site located at 135 Margaret Street in Plattsburgh, Clinton County, New York. The main courthouse was constructed in 1889. It is a two-story, ashlar stone and brick Richardsonian Romanesque style building. It has a hipped roof and rock-faced arched openings. It features a large, square central tower with an open campanile and pyramidal roof. The associated Surrogate's Building was built in 1884–1885, and is a two-story, Italianate style brick building with a bracketed cornice with Renaissance style detail.The courthouse complex was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 12, 1982.

George Downie (19 January 1778 – 11 September 1814) was a Scottish officer of the British Royal Navy. During the War of 1812, he commanded a British squadron that fought an American squadron on Lake Champlain in the Battle of Plattsburgh, during which he was killed.

Plattsburgh City Hall is an historic government building located at City Hall Place in Plattsburgh, Clinton County, New York. It was designed by architect John Russell Pope and constructed in 1917. It is a three-story, steel frame, limestone clad building in the Classical Revival style. It features a projecting entrance portico with six Doric order columns and a low central dome.: 6–7  It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 12, 1973.

House at 56 Cornelia Street is a historic home located at Plattsburgh in Clinton County, New York. It was built in about 1850 and is a two-story, rectangular building on a stone foundation. It features a porch with a moulded cornice and decorative brackets.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
