Vigo County ( VEE-goh) is a county on the western border of the U.S. state of Indiana. According to the 2020 United States Census, it had a population of 106,153. Its county seat is Terre Haute.Vigo County is included in the Terre Haute metropolitan area. The county contains four incorporated settlements with a total population of nearly 63,000, as well as several unincorporated communities. It is divided into twelve townships which provide local services to the residents.The county was once regarded as one of the best bellwether regions for voting in U.S. presidential elections; it voted for the winning candidate in every election from 1956 to 2016 and in all but three elections since 1888. Until the streak ended in 2020, only one county in the United States, Valencia County, New Mexico, had voted for the winning candidate longer.

Conceived in 1909 by the Indiana Knights of Columbus, and named for Fr. Pierre Gibault, the Gibault School for Boys was dedicated on October 9, 1921, in Terre Haute, IN as a "home for wayward boys". The first director of the school was Rev. Michael Gorman.

As the name implies, the school's district covers the southern portion of Terre Haute, as well as most of southern Vigo County, the county in which Terre Haute is located. The school is located at 3737 S 7th St, Terre Haute, Indiana 47802.

Honey Creek Township is one of twelve townships in Vigo County, Indiana, United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 17,179 and it contained 6,509 housing units. It contains Terre Haute's main shopping district along U.S. Route 41 and is by far the most characteristically suburban of the twelve Vigo County townships. The population includes inmates from the Terre Haute Federal Penitentiary, located at its northwest corner.

Haute City Center, formerly Honey Creek Mall, is a shopping center in Terre Haute, Indiana, with 680,890 sq ft (63,257 m2) of gross leasing area. The mall has been owned by Out of the Box Ventures, a subsidiary of Lionheart Capital since 2019. The mall opened in 1968 as Honey Creek Square. The complex was expanded in 1973 and 1981, and was renovated in 1992 and 2007. The center was renamed to Honey Creek Mall at the time of the 1992 renovation. In 1999, a management contract for the mall was awarded to Trammell Crow Faison Regional Mall Services, a unit of Trammell Crow Co. of Dallas. The mall was then purchased by CBL & Associates Properties in 2004.The mall's anchor stores are JCPenney and Vendors Village. There are 2 vacant anchor stores that were once Macy's and Sears. Vendors Village opened in the former Carson's space in November 2018.The southern anchor building was originally Root Dry Goods, which was converted to L. S. Ayres in 1998 and Macy's in 2006. Carson's opened as Meis a store which re-located from downtown Terre Haute, and was later Elder-Beerman.In 1983, the city of Terre Haute annexed the land on which the mall was situated.On January 3, 2018, Macy's announced that they would close their store at the mall. This store closed in March 2018. In April 2018, Carson's parent company Bon-Ton filed for bankruptcy and closed all of its stores. In October 2018, Sears Holdings filed for bankruptcy and announced the closure of 142 stores including the unit at Honey Creek Mall which left JCPenney as the only traditional anchor left.A Vendor's Village store opened in the former Carson's space in November 2018The mall was renamed to Haute City Center on December 16, 2019.

Terre Haute Action Track (also The Action Track) is a half-mile dirt racetrack located at the Vigo County, Indiana, fairgrounds on U.S. Route 41 along the south side of Terre Haute, Indiana. The track hosts annual United States Automobile Club (USAC) midget car, sprint car and Silver Crown events. Notable drivers that have competed at the track include A. J. Foyt, Jeff Gordon, Parnelli Jones, and Tony Stewart. The track has held events sanctioned by USAC, its predecessor American Automobile Association (AAA), and the World of Outlaws.

The Hoosier Hundred is a USAC Silver Crown Series race scheduled for Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park as of 2023. It is a revival of the original race held from 1953-2020 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds Speedway, a one-mile dirt oval in Indianapolis, Indiana. The race was first held in 1953, and through 1970 was part of the National Championship. Over the years, the Hoosier Hundred was considered one of the richest and most prestigious open-wheel races in the United States. Seven winners of the Hoosier Hundred have also won the Indianapolis 500, led by A. J. Foyt, who has won six times. Therefore, the Indiana State Fairgrounds Speedway was known as the "Track of Champions."Qualifying and/or heat race(s) lead to the main event, originally 100 laps, 100 miles, but with the revival, will be 146 laps, 100.181 miles.

The Fire Station No. 9 in Terre Haute, Indiana was built in 1906. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.It is a two-story brick building which was operated as a fire station until 1980.

Booker T. Washington School, also known as District School #10 and Washington High School, is a historic school building located at Terre Haute, Vigo County, Indiana. It was built in 1914 and was designed by the firm of Miller & Yeager Architects. It is a two-story, rectangular brick building with Classical Revival style design elements.The structure was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002 for its historical significance in African-American education in the area.In recent years through the end of the 2001–2002 school year, the building has housed Booker T. Washington High School, a school for pregnant, parenting and alternative students. Because of safety issues and compliance with current state standards, Washington High School moved from its original location to a new structure near Terre Haute South Vigo High School. As of June 2008, the original building was undergoing appraisal in preparation for being listed for sale.
