The Harry H. Nichols House is a historic house at 216 S. 4th Avenue in Maywood, Illinois. The house was built in 1894 for Harry H. Nichols, the former postmaster of Maywood and the son of village founder William T. Nichols. It was designed in the Queen Anne style, which was popular in the late nineteenth century; along with the Jacob Bohlander House, it is one of two large, formal Queen Anne homes in Maywood. The house's design includes a wraparound front porch with a balustrade, a gable with a sunburst design above the entrance, a projecting gabled bay on its south side, and a rectangular tower at its southeast corner. Neoclassical elements such as urns, columns, and cornices adorn its interior; these were most likely inspired by the architecture of the recent Columbian Exposition.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 24, 1992.

It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.It has Dutch Revival architecture, including a stepped gable. It was the Village of Maywood's first public fire station and was used until the early 1980s. Later used as a residence, it retains its original fire pole inside.

The Baptist Retirement Home is a historic retirement home at 316 Randolph Street in Maywood, Illinois. The home was built in 1930 for the Baptist Old People's Home organization, which was founded in Maywood in 1906; the large-scale building replaced its original, smaller facilities. At the time, retirement care was shifting from family-centered to institutional practices, and the elderly began to choose retirement home living instead of being forced there by a lack of family or money. When it opened, the facility was racially segregated and only admitted white residents; it also restricted membership to members of the Baptist faith who were over seventy years old. Architect Elmer C. Roberts designed the Tudor Revival building, which features half-timbering on its upper stories, towers enclosing its stairwells, and projecting bays topped by crenellated parapets. Additions were placed on the building in 1955 and 1965 to expand its capacity.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on October 26, 2017.

As of 2022, Maywood is served by 13 inbound trains and 11 outbound trains on weekdays, by five inbound trains and six outbound trains on Saturdays, and by four inbound trains and six outbound trains on Sundays and holidays. As of 2018, Maywood is the 194th busiest of the 236 non-downtown stations in the Metra system, with an average of 87 weekday boardings.The station's parking is along Main Street between 1st Avenue to the east and 4th Avenue to the west. The station is in the heart of Maywood's business district. Across the tracks to the south of the station is the Maywood Public Library, the Maywood Police Station, and Veteran's Memorial Park, the Village's largest park. Pace suburban buses stop on North 5th Avenue and one block to the north on Lake Street. A newly constructed commuter station opened on June 30, 2017.

Larson on land previously owned by the Maywood Company, the development company which planned the village. The Arts and Crafts-designed bungalow also includes many elements of the Prairie School style. Its design has an emphasis on geometry and nature, featuring rectangular piers and pilasters with decorative banding, board-and-batten siding, a row of leaded casement windows, and a glazed sun porch. The interior continues the themes of the design with posts matching the exterior piers, wooden moldings, mullions with the same pattern as the leaded windows, and built-in cabinets.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 22, 1992.

The Jacob Bohlander House is a historic house at 316 N. 4th Avenue in Maywood, Illinois. Jacob Bohlander, a local merchant who was Maywood's village president at the time, built the house circa 1894. The Bohlander family were among the earliest settlers of Proviso Township, and Jacob and his siblings all held positions in local government or led local businesses. The house was designed in a subtype of Queen Anne architecture known as free classical, which incorporated Neoclassical elements into the style. It includes a hexagonal tower, a rounded turret, a wraparound front porch, and multiple dormers.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 21, 1989.

The Jennie S. Thompkins House is a historic house at 503 N. 4th Avenue in Maywood, Illinois. The house was built circa 1872 for Jennie S. Thompkins and her husband; they purchased its plot from the Maywood Company, the original developers of Maywood. It has a gable front design, a vernacular style commonly found in working-class Chicago homes of the period. While the gable front style was also common in Maywood, the house is an especially well-preserved example of the style, as most others have since been modified or sided. The design includes a three-bay facade with segmental arched windows and a wraparound front porch that features brackets, turned posts, and a balustrade.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 22, 1992.

While thousands of bungalows were built in the Chicago area in the 1920s, including many others in Maywood, the Lynch House is unusual both for its size and its level of ornamentation. The house's design includes a main entrance with arched sidelights, round arched windows in a large front bay, patterned stained glass panels, and a green tile roof. Like many Chicago bungalows, the design features several elements of Prairie School architecture, such as the geometric designs in its stained glass windows, overhanging eaves, and wood trim on every door and window.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 24, 1992.

Like most Foursquare homes, the house has a square two-story layout with a front porch and a hip roof with a dormer. In keeping with its utilitarian style, the house has little external decoration; its interior features Craftsman-inspired wood trim, though it is still relatively plain.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 22, 1992.

The horizontal emphasis of the design is typical of the Prairie School, as are its bands of windows, wood trim, overhanging eaves, and built-in furniture.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 22, 1992.

The house has a typical Foursquare plan with a rectangular layout, a front porch supported by three columns, and a hip roof with a dormer. Its decorative features include Ionic styling on the porch columns, dentillation and brackets on the porch roof, additional bracketing along its eaves, and multiple stained glass windows.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 22, 1992.
