Jesmond Old Cemetery is a Victorian cemetery in Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom, founded in 1834. It contains two Grade II listed buildings and seven Grade II listed monuments as well as the graves of dozens of notable people from the history of Tyneside. The cemetery was designed by John Dobson who was himself later buried in the cemetery.There are ten Commonwealth service personnel buried in this cemetery, eight from World War I and two from World War II.

The Mansion House is a historic building in Fernwood Road in Jesmond, Newcastle upon Tyne, a city in Tyne and Wear, in England. The building, which accommodates the official residence of the Lord Mayor of Newcastle upon Tyne, is a locally listed building.

Fernwood House is a Victorian building, located in Newcastle Upon Tyne, United Kingdom. The building is regarded as one of the oldest and most notable buildings still standing in the area of Jesmond. The building is located on Clayton Road in Jesmond and was commissioned in 1864 by James Stoddard. Construction of Fernwood House was completed in February 1865. Shortly after its completion, it was sold to tea dealer, William Stewart. Stewart served as the Sheriff of Newcastle between 1876 and 1877, while living in the house. Baronet Walter Runciman and his wife Lady Anne Margaret Runciman bought Fernwood House in 1893, where Runciman served as MP for Hartlepool. He was also owner of one of the largest shipbuilding firms in the area, which spun out to create a number of shipping companies, including Anchor Line. It served as a private maternity hospital between the 1930s and 1960s. In the 1960s, it was purchased by Newcastle City Council and was used as a Children's home in 1966 till 1991. and reception centre until 1991. In 1992, the property again entered private ownership when it was purchased by Greggs and used as their head office. Fernwood House was then sold to Lowes Financial Management in 2016, who are part of the Lowes Group.

Shieldfield is a small district in the east of the city and metropolitan borough of Newcastle upon Tyne. It is bordered by the City Centre, Heaton, Byker and Sandyford.

Dene is an electoral ward of Newcastle upon Tyne in North East England. The ward takes its name from the nearby gorge at Jesmond Dene. Contained within the ward are government offices of the Department for Work and Pensions and the Freeman Hospital. The population of the ward is 9,554, increasing to 9,667 at the 2011 Census, 3.7% of the total population of Newcastle upon Tyne. Car ownership in the area is 74.8% much higher than the city average of 54.7%.

East Gosforth also known as Gosforth East is an electoral ward in Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear, UK. It was created in 2004. The population of the ward is 8,981, increasing to 10,145 at the 2011 Census, 3.5% of the total population of Newcastle upon Tyne. Car ownership in the area is 68.8%, higher than the city average of 54.7%. It is one half of Gosforth's wards, along with the West Gosforth ward.

Jesmond was a railway station, serving the suburb of Jesmond, Newcastle upon Tyne in Tyne and Wear, England. It was opened on 27 June 1864 as part of the Blyth and Tyne Railway's line to Newcastle New Bridge Street, and closed on 23 January 1978 when the line was shut for conversion into part of the Tyne and Wear Metro. With the opening of the Metro, it was replaced by the Jesmond Metro station, situated underground some 120 metres (390 ft) to the north-west. The old station buildings still exist, and the main building is a grade II listed building. It is used as a public house known as The Carriage. The track through the station is still used by Metro trains as part of a link between the line to the north of Jesmond and the line to the west of Manors. However this link is not used by trains carrying passengers, and no trains now stop at the old station.

Jesmond is a Tyne and Wear Metro station, serving the suburb of Jesmond, Newcastle upon Tyne in Tyne and Wear, England. It joined the network on 11 August 1980, following the opening of the first phase of the network, between Haymarket and Tynemouth via Four Lane Ends.

Cradlewell is an area within Jesmond, Newcastle upon Tyne, England. It is most noted for its spired church and its public house, 'The Cradlewell' which opened in 1904 and later closed, for conversion to a hotel & restaurant. It developed as the main road crossing point of the steep Ouseburn valley. Jesmond Dene is close by. The name may simply be from a cradle shaped horse trough situated at the edge of Jesmond Road in a prominent position. The historic Armstrong Bridge emerges into Cradlewell with Jesmond Dene to the north and Jesmond Vale to the south of the bridge. In 1993 work began on a bypass for the Cradlewell area, replacing the very steep Benton Bank as the main thoroughfare. It joined the A1058 Coast Road with the Central Motorway after much protest from people who were opposed to cutting down so many ancient trees. There were tree-top demonstrations that held up the construction for a long time.

Newcastle High School for Girls is an independent day school for girls aged 3–18 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. The Junior School is at Sandyford Park and the Senior School is located in the neighbouring suburb of Jesmond. The school was formed in September 2014 by the merger of Central Newcastle High School, formerly Gateshead High School, and Newcastle upon Tyne Church High School. It is operated by the Girls' Day School Trust, an organisation which ran one of the predecessor schools, Central Newcastle High, pre-merger.
