Yaquina Head

The Yaquina Head Light, also known early in its existence as the Cape Foulweather Lighthouse(though cape Foul Weather is 4 miles to the north) is a lighthouse on the Oregon Coast of the United States, established in 1873. It is located in Lincoln County, near Newport at Yaquina Head. The tower stands 93 feet (28 m) tall, and is the tallest lighthouse in Oregon.

Agate Beach is an unincorporated community in Lincoln County, Oregon, United States. Agate Beach is named for the agates that are found on the beaches of the Pacific Ocean between Newport and Yaquina Head. Agate Beach post office was established in 1912 and closed in 1971.Historically, the area's most famous citizen was composer Ernest Bloch, who spent his later years in the community. The 1914 Ernest Bloch House is on the National Register of Historic Places and was once owned by the son of Asahel Bush and his family.In June 2012 a 165-ton floating dock dislodged from the March 2011 Japanese tsunami washed up ashore, creating a popular tourist attraction as well as an imperative to remove potential invasive species.

Agate Beach State Recreation Site is a state park between Newport and Agate Beach in Lincoln County in the U.S. state of Oregon. It is administered by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department.Lying between new and old U.S. Highway 101, the 18.48-acre (7.48 ha) park offers beach access via a path from the parking lot through a tunnel under the old highway. Amenities include restrooms and a place to fish, surf, and dig for razor clams. The site also has picnic tables, and activities on its beach may include kite flying, agate hunting, birdwatching, and photography.Created in 1969 from land bought from the Lincoln County Development Company, the park is open year-round. About 190,000 people visit the park each year.

Moolack Beach (also Moolack Shores) is an undeveloped sandy beach on the Oregon Coast about 4 miles (6 km) north of Newport in Lincoln County, United States. It is almost 8 km (5 mi) in length with the south end at Yaquina Head and the north end at Otter Rock, the site of Devils Punch Bowl State Natural Area. The northern beach is the site of Beverly Beach State Park and the community of Beverly Beach. The beach has no obvious break delineating what would seem to be Beverly Beach, though Wade Creek is a likely candidate. The nearly ten-foot (3-metre) tidal range and seasonally varying slope of the beach can cause the sandy beach to completely disappear at times; at other times it can be hundreds of feet wide. The beach is bounded by U.S. Route 101. The name is from a Chinook Jargon word for "elk". The area is rich with geologic history.

Jump-off Joe was a 100-foot-tall sea stack geological formation composed of middle Miocene concretionary sandstone at Nye Beach in Newport, Oregon, United States. It was a well-known tourist attraction before World War I. It formed sometime before the 1880s when it was connected to the mainland, and was a major impediment walking the beach. Early travelers would have to jump off the side to get over it, hence the name. Early writers claimed the site was connected with Native American mythology. Natural forces separated it from the mainland in the 1890s, and its large arch collapsed in 1916.

Nye Beach is a central district in Newport in the U.S. state of Oregon. The Nye Beach historic overlay district is bounded on the north and south sides by Northwest Twelfth Street and Southwest Second Street respectively; on the east side by Hurbert Street and on the west side by the Pacific Ocean. Situated on a sea cliff, the district has been a popular vacation spot since the late 19th century. New Cliff House, also formerly known as the Hotel Gilmore and now known as the Sylvia Beach Hotel, is a historic hotel building in Newport, Oregon.

The Charles and Theresa Roper House, also known as Hilan Castle, is a historic residence located in Newport, Oregon, United States. Built in 1912–1913 to evoke a castle in the Scottish Highlands, it features such Medieval-inspired elements as a crenellated parapet, mullioned windows, a rounded corner tower, and a cantilevered turret. It is one of very few examples of the Castellated Gothic Revival style in Oregon, other than local armories. Its first owners, both Canadian immigrants, were locally notable figures: Charles Roper was a professional photographer whose work comprises an important documentary record of central Lincoln County in the 1910s and 1920s. He was elected mayor of Newport in 1922, and maintained a photography studio on the top floor of his house. Theresa Roper was the writer and illustrator of several books of romanticized history, and was a collector of local Native American objects that she used as a basis for her illustrations.The house was converted from single-family use to apartments in 1975. It was entered on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981.

The Lincoln County School District is a public school district in the U.S. state of Oregon. The district serves the communities of Yachats, Waldport, Eddyville, Newport, Siletz, Lincoln City and Toledo. The district spans roughly 55 miles of the central Oregon Coast from Cascade Head south to Cape Perpetua, and encompasses about 1,000 square miles.

Newport High School is a public high school located in Newport, Oregon, United States. It is one of five high schools in the Lincoln County School District.

Beverly Beach is an unincorporated community in Lincoln County in the U.S. state of Oregon. It is located on U.S. Route 101 on the Oregon Coast, north of Yaquina Head and south of Beverly Beach State Park. Beverly Beach was named in the early 1930s by Curtis F. and Florence May Christy, who owned the property in this location. They wished to establish a seaside community there, and asked their young daughter, Florence Daneene Christy (Pearson), what it should be named. Her favorite doll was named "Beverly", so that was the name she chose.
