Arth-Goldau railway station

Goldau is a town in the community of Arth, canton of Schwyz, Switzerland. It lies between the Rigi and Rossberg mountains, and between lakes Zug and Lauerz. Well known attractions include the Natur- und Tierpark Goldau and the Arth-Goldau valley station of the Arth-Rigi Bahn connecting to the Rigi mountain. Goldau is primarily known in Switzerland for its historic landslide, the "Goldau landslide" (Goldauer Bergsturz) of 1806 which killed 457 people. It is also known for its importance for the Swiss railways network, with Arth-Goldau station forming the intersection between the Gotthard, Lucerne, Zug–Zürich and Pfäffikon lines.

Arth-Goldau RB railway station (German: Bahnhof Arth-Goldau RB) is a railway station in the municipality of Arth, in the Swiss canton of Schwyz. It is the terminus of the standard gauge Arth–Rigi line of Rigi Railways. The station consists of an elevated platform above the mainline Arth-Goldau station of Swiss Federal Railways.

Natur- und Tierpark Goldau is one of six scientifically managed zoos in Switzerland. It is situated in the area that was devastated by the Goldau landslide of 1806. The zoo attracted 859,000 visitors in 2013.

The four settlements Rigi Kulm, Rigi First, Rigi Klösterli, and Rigi Staffel on the mountain Rigi to the west of Arth are also part of the municipality.

Steinerberg railway station (German: Bahnhof Steinerberg) is a railway station in Steinerberg, in the Swiss canton of Schwyz. It is an intermediate stop on the standard gauge Pfäffikon–Arth-Goldau line of Südostbahn.

The Scheidegg (1,658 m or 5,440 ft) is a mountain summit of the Rigi massif, overlooking Goldau in the canton of Schwyz on its north mountainside, and Gersau and the Gersauerbecken on its south side. The cable car station 160 metres east of it is called Rigi Scheidegg.The summit is connected by two cable cars, one, the Luftseilbahn Kräbel–Rigi Scheidegg (LKRS), on the north side connecting to the Kräbel station on the Arth-Rigi Bahn (ARB), and another one, the Luftseilbahn Obergschwend–Rigi Burggeist (LORB), on the south side leading down to Obergschwend in the municipality of Gersau. Alternatively it is possible to walk from Scheidegg to Rigi Kaltbad or Rigi Klösterli by a panoramic footpath on the eastern and western mountainside of the Rigi massif. Much of the path uses the trackbed of the former Rigi–Scheidegg railway that once linked Kaltbad and Scheidegg.The summit of Scheidegg was once the site of a large hotel, built in 1830. The reduction in tourism due to World War I, and the subsequent change in tourism from overnight stays to day trips, resulted in the closure of the hotel and its eventual demolition in 1943/4.The Cinema Museum in London has rare home movie footage of the town in 1946.

The Rigi Hochflue is a mountain summit west of the mountain range Urmiberg, in itself part of the Rigi massif, overlooking the Gersauerbecken of Lake Lucerne in Central Switzerland on its mountainside to the south, and Lake Lauerz on its north side. It has an elevation of 1,698 metres (5,571 ft) above sea level and is located in the canton of Schwyz.

The Wildspitz is the highest summit of the Rossberg, a mountain of the Schwyzer Alps, located on the border between the Swiss cantons of Zug and Schwyz. Reaching a height of 1,580 metres above sea level, it is the highest summit in the canton of Zug. The Wildspitz is surrounded by three lakes: Lake Zug, Lake Lauerz and Lake Ägeri.

Schwanau is an island in Lake Lauerz, located in the canton of Schwyz in Central Switzerland. It is occupied by a ruined castle, the Burgruine Schwanau, a chapel and a restaurant. Administratively the island lies within the municipality of Lauerz, but it is owned by the canton of Schwyz.The island is situated some 125 m (410.1 ft) off the south shore of the lake, close to the lakeside village of Lauerz. Its highest point is 22 metres (72.2 ft) above normal lake level or 469 metres (1,538.7 ft) above sea level. It is the largest of the two islands in Lake Lauerz (the other being Roggenburg).The island is accessible by a public passenger ferry from the nearby shore. Access for persons with limited mobility is possible by use of a specially adapted boat and an inclined elevator to the terrace level where the castle, chapel and restaurant are located.

Walchwil railway station (German: Bahnhof Walchwil) is a railway station in the municipality of Walchwil, in the Swiss canton of Zug. It is an intermediate stop on the standard gauge Thalwil–Arth-Goldau line of Swiss Federal Railways.
