Cochem

Cochem (before 7 June 2009 Cochem-Land) is a Verbandsgemeinde ("collective municipality") in the district Cochem-Zell, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is located around the town Cochem (also part of the Verbandsgemeinde since 7 June 2009), which is the seat of the Verbandsgemeinde. On 1 July 2014 it was expanded with 6 municipalities from the former Verbandsgemeinde Treis-Karden. Since the 1 March 2018 Wolfgang Lambertz is the mayor of the Verbandsgemeinde Cochem. Cochem consists of the following Ortsgemeinden ("local municipalities"):

The Martin city gate is one of three still existing city gates of the German city of Cochem.

The Columbarium is a heritage-protected building in Cochem. The three-storey tower is a massive Greywacke quarry stone building. The building was constructed between 1889 and 1890 according to the plans of master bricklayer Johann Wiss from Klotten, commissioned by Carl Joseph Friedrichs.

The Bundesbank bunker was the German central bank's bunker in Cochem (Rheinland-Pfalz) for the preservation of an emergency currency. From 1964 to 1988, the Deutsche Bundesbank stored up to 15 billion marks in the top-secret facility, to protect West Germany from a national economic crisis in the event of potential hyperinflation that might be caused by the Cold War.

Cochem-Zell (German: Landkreis Cochem-Zell) is a district (Kreis) in the north-west of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Neighboring districts are Mayen-Koblenz, Rhein-Hunsrück, Bernkastel-Wittlich, and Vulkaneifel.

Ellerbach is a river of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The Ellerbach springs west of Büchel. It is a left tributary of the Moselle at Ediger-Eller.
