RAF Peterborough

The Edith Cavell Hospital was an acute hospital serving the city of Peterborough and north Cambridgeshire, east Northamptonshire and Rutland in the United Kingdom. Situated on a greenfield site at Westwood, Peterborough, it was decommissioned in late 2010 and demolished in early 2011.

The Edith Cavell Campus is a National Health Service healthcare campus in the city of Peterborough in the United Kingdom. The campus, situated on the site of the former Edith Cavell Hospital, was opened in 2010 and comprises the following healthcare facilities: Peterborough City Hospital: This is a 623-bed acute general district hospital, managed by North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust. The Cavell Centre: this is a purpose-built unit, which provides secure in-patient and day services for adults with mental health problems and people with learning disabilities. It is managed by Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust, a member of Cambridge University Health Partners.

Peterborough Town Cricket Club is part of City of Peterborough Sports Club based at Dalrod Sports Ground, Bretton, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, England. Peterborough Town have two senior Saturday XI teams in the Northamptonshire Cricket League, a 3rd XI team in the Huntingdonshire County Cricket League, two Sunday XI teams in the Rutland and District Cricket League, and an established Junior Section, who play in the Higham & District Youth League.

Ravensthorpe is a residential area and electoral ward of the city of Peterborough, in the unparished area of Peterborough, in the Peterborough district, in the ceremonial county of Cambridgeshire, England. Ravensthorpe County Primary School is located in the area with secondary pupils usually attending nearby Jack Hunt School in Netherton. Ravensthorpe was mainly built as a part of north-west Bretton in the 1960s. It was built primarily as council housing and cheap family residencies during Peterborough's extensive growth during the 1970s and 1980s.

Grimeshaw Wood is a 16.8-hectare (42-acre) Local Nature Reserve on the western outskirts of Peterborough in Cambridgeshire. It is owned by Peterborough City Council, and managed by the council together with the Peterborough Environment City Trust.This site is ancient woodland in three adjacent areas. Flora include nettle-leaved bellflowers, and there are resident pipistrelle bats.There is access from Bretton Way, which bisects the site. An environmental bio-study is currently underway to and record the true diversity of flora and fauna in this ancient woodland. On 8 January 2022 a pair of tawny owls were noted. Other bird species noted include buzzard, red kite, wood pigeon, stock dove, great tit, coal tit, robin, blue tit, lesser spotted woodpecker, green woodpecker, blackbird, brambling, pheasant, collared dove, tree creeper.

Bretton is a settlement and civil parish on the north western edge of Peterborough, in the Peterborough district, in the ceremonial county of Cambridgeshire, England. Bretton has been designed as a green environment; the major roads (Bretton Gate and Way) are tree-lined and there are several large parks and playing fields. It consists of two main areas; North Bretton and South Bretton, these are divided by Bretton Centre. North Bretton has the larger population and is home to the industrial estates and most leisure facilities as well as the Crematorium. The main entrance to Milton Hall is from Bretton Way in South Bretton and Nene Park is accessed via an under pass beneath the A47. Bretton Centre's main building is The Cresset multi-purpose venue, holding a large stage and seating, shops, a church, children's entertainment and places to eat. Jack Hunt School, officially Jack Hunt School Language College, is a co-educational secondary school and sixth form located in Netherton in the city of Peterborough in the United Kingdom. Students are aged 11 (Year 7) to 18 (Year 13). Refurbishment of the premises, as part of the Peterborough Secondary School Review, increased the capacity by one form of entry in each year group, with a similar increase in the sixth form, amounting to around an extra 175 places.

Westwood is a residential area of the city of Peterborough, in the unparished area of Peterborough, in the Peterborough district, in the ceremonial county of Cambridgeshire, England. For electoral purposes it forms part of Ravensthorpe ward. Manufacturers of industrial machinery, Baker Perkins, relocated here from London in 1903. HMP Peterborough, the first purpose-built prison to house both men and women, opened on the site of the former engineering works in 2005. The area was named after DJ Tim Westwood's father, former bishop. The construction of the estate began in the mid 1960s on land formerly in use as RAF Peterborough, a Second World War training base for allied and Commonwealth pilots. The adjacent Westwood Farm, formerly Horrells Dairies, is now home to the New Covent Garden Soup Company. Highlees County Primary School is located in the area; secondary pupils attend nearby Jack Hunt School in Netherton. The Anglican parish church is dedicated to St Jude.

Netherton is a residential area of the city of Peterborough, in the Peterborough district, in the ceremonial county of Cambridgeshire, England. For electoral purposes it forms part of Peterborough West ward. Netherton means lower farm in Old English, but the area was named after the Netherton Building Company which built the original houses in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Thorpe Primary school is located in the area; secondary pupils attend Jack Hunt School. Jack Hunt swimming pool is located here. It is a 25m (82 feet) dual-use facility, built on school land but owned by Peterborough City Council and operated by Vivacity Peterborough, a charitable trust. The parish church, dedicated to Saint Jude, was built in 1968 on land donated by Thomas Wentworth-Fitzwilliam, 10th Earl Fitzwilliam (via the Fitzwilliam Trust). In 2001 teen-aged Netherton resident Ross Parker was murdered by a gang of up to ten Muslims of Pakistani background who had sought a white male to attack. A memorial plaque in Parker's memory is located at The Grange in Netherton.

The Iqra Academy is a girls-only independent school opened in 2009 in Peterborough, England. It is based around Islamic principles, however accepts both Muslim and non-Muslim students.

Walton railway station was a station in Walton, Cambridgeshire. It was on the Midland Railway's Syston and Peterborough Railway line between Peterborough and Stamford. It was closed in 1953. The Great Northern Railway main line runs adjacent to the Midland Railway at this point, but the Great Northern never had a station in Walton. This was due to an agreement whereby the Midland carried materials to the site during construction of the Great Northern, and in return the Great Northern offered no competition for services on this section
