Mount Bold Reservoir is the largest reservoir in South Australia with a maximum capacity of over forty-six thousand megalitres. Costing A$1.1 million, the reservoir took six years to construct on the Onkaparinga River system between 1932 and 1938. The reservoir does not connect directly to the main reticulation system; rather, to maintain levels at Clarendon Weir, water is released only as required. Much of the water from Mount Bold will eventually end up at Happy Valley Reservoir and used to supply parts of the Mount Lofty Ranges and also Adelaide. A major renovation was completed in 1964 when the level of the dam was raised 6.4 metres to increase the reservoir's capacity by approximately 17,000 megalitres. Although originally supplying its own electricity through a small hydro-electricity plant, this was discontinued in 1961. However, Mount Bold is now considered a possible site for a future commercial mini-hydro generator. In early June 2007, the South Australian Government began a scoping study into expanding the reservoir's capacity fivefold to 240 gigalitres at an estimated cost of A$850 million. The plan was criticised by the Opposition as not providing any new water, and by ecologist David Paton as threatening surrounding wildlife.On 26 September 2010, Mount Bold Reservoir was opened for the first time since 2005 after receiving large amounts of rainfall in the week leading up to the date. The resulting water flushed out the Onkaparinga Catchment, causing several flooded roads but removing debris which had been building up for many years.

Scott Creek Conservation Park is a protected area in the Australian state of South Australia located in the gazetted locality of Dorset Vale about 20 kilometres (12 mi) south of the state capital of Adelaide.

Dorset Vale is a rural locality near Adelaide, South Australia. It straddles three local government areas adjacent to the Onkaparinga River, being within the Adelaide Hills, Mount Barker and the Onkaparinga council areas. The precise boundaries were set in April 1994 and extended in November 2003 for the long-established name. The first post office in the area was given the English name Dorset Vale circa 1850, but it was locally known as "Scotts Bottom" as it was downstream from Scott Creek. Scotts Bottom School opened in 1930, its name was changed to Dorset Vale in 1937 and it closed in 1944.Dorset Vale includes the Scott Creek Conservation Park.The area would have been used by the Peramangk people before European settlement began in the late 1830s. The Scott Creek area including Dorset Vale was mined for copper and silver in the 19th century. Copper was discovered in 1850, and silver soon after. Mining ceased in 1887 after extraction of 10 000 ounces (310 kg) of silver.

Scott Creek Airport (ICAO: YSCC) also known as Cherry Gardens Airstrip is an airstrip in the northeastern corner of the locality of Clarendon, South Australia in the Adelaide Hills. Scott Creek and Cherry Gardens are smaller villages closer to the airstrip than the larger town of Clarendon. It has one unsealed runway 1127 metres long.It has no aircraft parking facilities, but is used for reloading fire bomber aircraft for the South Australian Country Fire Service. The main aircraft operating from this strip are Air Tractors. An aircraft can be loaded with 3000 litres of water and firefighting foam and returned to the air in four minutes.

The Clarendon Weir is a weir in the Australian state of South Australia, located on the Onkaparinga River in the suburb of Clarendon, about 20 kilometres (12 mi) south of the Adelaide city centre.Built in 1894–96 as part of the Onkaparinga Water Scheme, the weir was designed to pool water from the Mount Bold Reservoir, on the Onkaparinga, which is often boosted with water from the Murray River. Water is directed through pipeline from the weir to Happy Valley Reservoir in the Field River catchment. The water is used to supply the majority of the Adelaide region's water needs.In the mid-1960s, the wall of the Clarendon Weir, originally constructed with large blocks of Macclesfield marble, was raised from 14 metres (46 ft) to its current height of 14.6 metres (48 ft) .The weir was listed on the former Register of the National Estate, and has been listed as a state heritage place on the South Australian Heritage Register since 8 November 1984.
