Max Ehrmann (September 26, 1872 – September 9, 1945) was an American writer, poet, and attorney from Terre Haute, Indiana, widely known for his 1927 prose poem "Desiderata" (Latin: "things desired"). He often wrote on spiritual themes.

Butternut Hill, also known as Prospect Hill, Blake House, and Ross House, is a historic home located at Terre Haute, Vigo County, Indiana. It was built about 1835, and enlarged in 1869 and 1902. It is a two-story, central passage plan, vernacular Greek Revival style brick dwelling.: 5 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.

Anton "Tony" Hulman Jr. (February 11, 1901 – October 27, 1977) was an American businessman from Terre Haute, Indiana, who bought the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 1945 and brought racing back to the famous race course after a four-year hiatus following World War II.

Mary Fendrich Hulman (March 13, 1905 – April 10, 1998) was the wife of the late Indiana industrialist Anton "Tony" Hulman, Jr. and matriarch of the Hulman-George family that controls Hulman & Company.

Ohio Boulevard–Deming Park Historic District is a boulevard in Terre Haute, Vigo County, Indiana. Designed by architect and city planner George E. Kessler, the boulevard is 1.5 miles (2.4 km) long. At its start at the intersection with 19th Street is an entrance including a stone structure on either side of the road. There the road is 106 feet (32 m) wide, expanding to 190 feet (58 m) wide at 20th street to accommodate an 80-foot-wide (24 m) median.The median is maintained by the city of Terre Haute as city park land. In the teardrop-shaped green space formed as the boulevard branches and widens between 19th and 20th streets is a fountain, restored in 2002. This small area was dedicated as Remembrance Plaza on September 11, 2002, in honor of those who lost their lives in the September 11 attacks one year prior. The boulevard was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989 for its significance in architecture, landscaping and the history of the region.

Memorial Stadium is the current home of the Indiana State Sycamores football and soccer section in Terre Haute, Indiana, United States. The stadium was renovated between 1967 and 1969; it was built to host professional minor league baseball; the Indiana State football team began playing there in 1949.

Oakley Observatory or Rose–Hulman Observatory (Obs. code: 916) is an astronomical observatory operated by Rose–Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana, United States. The Oakley Observatory is a teaching observatory with eight permanently mounted telescopes. One of the telescopes is a six-inch refractor built by Clark and Sons in 1886. The other telescopes are all reflecting telescopes ranging in size from eight to twenty two inches. In addition to being used for astronomy classes students use the observatory for research and recreation. Several minor planets have been discovered at Rose-Hulman, most notably numerous discoveries by American astronomer Chris Wolfe (also see Category:Discoveries by Chris Wolfe).

Woodrow Wilson Middle School, formerly Woodrow Wilson Junior High School, is a historic school building located at Terre Haute, Vigo County, Indiana. It was built in 1927 for approximately $750,000. Designed by the firm of Miller & Yeager Architects. It is a three-story, "T"-plan, Tudor Revival style brick building with a central entrance tower.The structure was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.The interior of the school's main entrance features several large-scale murals by Gilbert Brown Wilson, completed in 1935.
