The San Jacinto Street Bridge is a viaduct which crosses Buffalo Bayou in Houston, Texas. The structure is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). This bridge was built in 1914 to replace an iron pivot bridge of 1883 origin, and rehabilitated in 1997. It is a transportation conduit connecting downtown and the historical Fifth Ward.

The McKee Street Bridge carries McKee Street across Buffalo Bayou in Houston, Texas. Built in 1932, the three-span reinforced concrete girder bridge connects the Second and Fifth Ward areas, northeast of downtown Houston. The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on September 3, 2002.

The James Bute Company Warehouse, located at 711 William Street in Houston, Texas, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on July 7, 1994. The Bute Paint Company, founded by James Bute, operated from 1867 until 1990. Its warehouse building on William Street was built in 1909. Abandoned after 1990, the property was converted to loft apartments in 1993.

White Oak Bayou is a slow-moving river in Houston, Texas. A major tributary of the city's principal waterway, Buffalo Bayou, White Oak originates near the intersection of Texas State Highway 6 and U.S. Highway 290 (the Northwest Freeway) and meanders southeast for 25 miles (40 km) until it joins Buffalo Bayou in Downtown. The river serves as a greenway which connects Downtown to the Houston Heights, Oak Forest, Garden Oaks, and Inwood Forest. A large majority of White Oak Bayou's route travels through highly developed areas. The river's 111-square-mile (290 km2) watershed contains a population of over 430,000.

Allen's Landing is the officially recognized birthplace of the city of Houston, Texas, United States, the largest city in Texas and the fourth largest in the United States. Located in Downtown Houston between the Main Street and Fannin Street viaducts, the landing encompasses the southern bank of Buffalo Bayou, the city's principal river, at its confluence with White Oak Bayou, a major tributary. Allen's Landing is located south of the University of Houston–Downtown Commerce Street Building. In August 1836, just months after the Republic of Texas won its independence from Mexico, two New York real estate developers, John Kirby Allen and Augustus Chapman Allen, purchased 6,642 acres (26.88 km2) of coastal prairie and settled the town of Houston on the banks of Buffalo Bayou. The present-day landing area was advertised as the head of navigation of the bayou and served as the city's first wharf.

UH–Downtown is a station on the METRORail Red Line in Houston, Texas (USA) and it is the former northern terminus of the Red Line, since the line was extended in late 2013. The station is located on top of the Main Street viaduct at the campus of the University of Houston–Downtown (UHD). This station is located on top of the Main Street viaduct. Due to space limitations, it has an extremely narrow platform. As a result, the ticket vending machines are located on the property of the University of Houston–Downtown.

The National Biscuit Company Building, located at 15 North Chenevert in Houston, Texas, was built for Nabisco in 1910, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places on February 20, 1998. The structure was converted to apartments and is now known as City View Lofts.

The University of Houston–Downtown: College of Sciences and Technology (CST) is a University of Houston-Downtown program that prepares students for careers or post-graduate study and research in the sciences, technology, mathematics and computer science. The UHD Scholars Academy (SA) is an academically competitive program within CST for undergraduate students majoring in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

The University of Houston–Downtown (UHD) is a public university in Houston, Texas. It is part of the University of Houston System and has a campus that spans 40 acres (16 ha) in Downtown Houston with a satellite location, UHD-Northwest in Harris County. Founded in 1974, UHD is the second-largest university in Houston. The university serves students in four academic colleges and offers 56 degree programs—46 bachelors and 10 masters. Franklin Lofts, originally known as the Lomas & Nettleton Building, is an 8-story, 32 m (105 ft) building in downtown Houston, Texas. The building is generally regarded as the first skyscraper in the city. The Lomas & Nettleton Building was completed in 1904, and rises 8 floors in height. A new addition was completed in 1925. It was also the tallest steel-framed building west of the Mississippi River at the time of its completion.The Lomas & Nettleton Company was originally housed in the building, but it was converted to residential lofts and renamed in 1999.

The Harris County Courthouse of 1910 is one of the courthouse buildings operated by the Harris County, Texas government, in Downtown Houston. It is in the Classical Revival architectural style and has six stories. Two courtrooms inside are two stories each. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on May 13, 1981.It houses the Texas Court of Appeals districts 1 and 14.
