Don Edwards Park

The Home Building Association Bank (or Home Building Association Company) is a historic building located at 1 North Third Street in Newark, Ohio, United States, and was designed by noted Chicago architect Louis Sullivan. It is one of eight banks designed by Sullivan. In 1973, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. Of note is the building's rather high number of owners: since its construction, Home Building Association Bank has been home to two financial institutions, a butcher shop, a jewelry store, and an ice cream parlor. Its interior was modified for each occupant. For this project, Sullivan was given a narrow lot but made the building larger by making it two stories high, something that he did not typically do in his banks. The color scheme chosen here deviates from his normal red-brown brick tapestry surface. Instead the building is covered with gray-green terra cotta slabs that are edged with typical Sullivanesque border designs. The ornamentation included a winged lion quite similar to the ones to be found in Cedar Rapids, Grinnell and Sidney. Little mention is made in the literature about Sullivan as to why these creatures populate his banks. Also unique is the presence of Sullivan's name in the tile mosaic over the front door.

Newark ( Noork) is a city in, and the county seat of, Licking County, Ohio, United States; it is located 40 miles (64 km) east of Columbus at the junction of the forks of the Licking River. The population was 49,934 at the 2020 census, making it the 18th-largest city in Ohio. It is part of the Columbus metropolitan area. It is the site of much of the Newark Earthworks, a major ancient complex built by the Hopewell culture. The Great Circle portion and additional burial mounds are located in the neighboring city of Heath, Ohio. This complex has been designated as a National Historic Landmark and is operated as a state park by the Ohio History Connection.

Newark City School District is a public school district in the city of Newark, Ohio. The district is the largest in Licking County, with nearly 6,500 students.

Newark High School is a public high school in Newark, Ohio. It houses a little more than 2,000 students. It is the only high school in the Newark City Schools district. An additional 150 students attend the Career and Technical Education Center (C-TEC) associated with the school. Newark High School was built in 1959 and opened in 1961. The school underwent a massive construction project beginning in the Summer of 2010 and completed in the Spring of 2013 to convert the school into one building with 6 classroom wings, a student commons, a gymnasium, an auditorium, and the facility in which the entire district's lunches are produced. Newark plays division I athletics in the Ohio Division of the Ohio Capital Conference. Major athletics rivalries are with Lancaster High School and Zanesville High School. The school's C-TEC satellite program includes a broadcasting department, which enables students to participate in activities such as operating a closed-circuit television station. The school's Latin Club functions as a local chapter of both the Ohio Junior Classical League (OJCL) and National Junior Classical League (NJCL).

The Longaberger Company was an American manufacturer and distributor of handcrafted maple wood baskets and other home and lifestyle products. The company opened in 1973, was acquired in 2013 by CVSL, Inc., and closed in 2018. The following year, Xcel Brands acquired the intellectual property and relaunched the brand, expanding it to include home goods such as furniture, food, jewelry and other handcrafted products.Founded by Dave Longaberger, the family-owned and -operated company used multi-level marketing to sell its products. It was one of the primary employers in Dresden, Ohio, before it moved to Newark, Ohio, in 1997. At its peak in 2000, it had $1 billion in sales, employed more than 8,200 people directly, and had about 45,000 independent distributors (called Home Consultants) selling its products directly to customers. Along with baskets, the product line eventually included wrought iron products, pottery, wooden lids, and other products.Its former corporate headquarters on Ohio's State Route 16 is a local landmark known as the "Big Basket". Built to resemble the company's top-selling product, the "Medium Market Basket", the seven-story edifice is a well-known example of novelty architecture.

Lloyd Corners is an unincorporated community in Licking County, Ohio, United States. Lloyd Corners is located on Ohio State Route 13, 3 miles (4.8 km) south of Newark.

The Newark Earthworks in Newark and Heath, Ohio, consist of three sections of preserved earthworks: the Great Circle Earthworks, the Octagon Earthworks, and the Wright Earthworks. This complex, built by the Hopewell culture between 100 BCE and 400 CE, contains the largest earthen enclosures in the world, and was about 3,000 acres in total extent. Less than 10 percent of the total site has been preserved since European-American settlement; this area contains a total of 206 acres (83 ha). Newark's Octagon and Great Circle Earthworks are managed by the Ohio History Connection. A designated National Historic Landmark, in 2006 the Newark Earthworks was also designated as the "official prehistoric monument of the State of Ohio."This is part of the Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks, one of 14 sites nominated in January 2008 by the U.S. Department of the Interior for potential submission by the United States to the UNESCO World Heritage List. It was officially designated a World Heritage Site in September 2023 together with the earthworks at Hopewell Culture National Historical Park and Fort Ancient.

Heath High School is a public high school in Heath, Ohio. It is the only high school in the Heath City Schools district that was founded in 1962.

The Career and Technology Education Centers of Licking County (C-TEC) is a public school with a focus is on preparing high school 11th & 12th graders to be career and college ready. It also has an Adult Education center located on campus that has 15 full time occupational programs and numerous short term classes available.
