Thanikkudam

Thanikkudam Bhagavathi Temple is a Hindu Temple located in Thanikkudam of Thrissur city in Kerala, on the banks of Puzhakkal River, also called Thanikkudam river. It is dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali, in the form of 'Nanadurga'. It is famous for 'arattu' ceremony during monsoon season, when the river is flooded and enters the main sanctum, thus submerging the whole idol. This temples is one of the rare temples with such a ceremony. The temple is under the control of Cochin Devaswom Board.

Kuttumuck Siva Temple, the abode of Lord Kuttumuck Sree Mahadevan, is located about 5 km northeast of Thrissur. According to the legends, the idol worshipped here is more than 300 years old. But there are no historical records to establish it. The name 'Kuttumuck' is believed to have evolved from Kutti Muck.

The largest menhir type megalithic monument in granite in Kerala is found here. A local catholic church (St. Francis Xavier's Church, Pallimoola, Ramavarmapuram) has recently been adorned with mural paintings in the traditional Kerala style. This is the first instance of such a church decoration in Kerala in modern times. At the time of the founding of a broadcasting station of All India Radio in Thrissur, the place where the station was established was renamed as Ramavarmapuram. Prior to that the place was known as Anappara. The original place name still lingers in native usage. Over the years the place specified as Ramavarmapuram expanded to include the entire region in the northern suburbs of Thrissur City. After of the formation of Thrissur Municipal Corporation in September 2000, one of the fifty-two divisions of the city has been named Ramavarmapuram. There is also a Post Office named Ramavarmapuram (PIN : 680631) serving parts of these suburbs. The area can be reached by bus from Swaraj Round and North Bus Stand in Thrissur.

Vimala College is a Women's college in Thrissur City of Kerala state, India. It was established in 1967 after bifurcating St. Mary's College, Thrissur. The college is under the management of the Nirmala Province, Thrissur, of The Congregation of Mother of Carmel in the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church. The college is under the religious jurisdiction of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Archdiocese of Thrissur and is one of the leading educational institutions related to or run by church organizations. Vimala College was the only women's college in Kerala which offered exclusively graduate and post-graduate programmes. The college was presented the R Shankar Award in 2002 by the Government of Kerala. It has been re-accredited with an A grade at 3.3 CGPA in a four-point scale in 2008 by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, Bangalore.
