St. Francis Xavier Church (Parkersburg, West Virginia)

Sharon Lodge No. 28 IOOF is a historic Independent Order of Odd Fellows clubhouse located at Parkersburg, Wood County, West Virginia. It was designed and built in 1897, by noted West Virginia architect H. Rus Warne (1872-1954). It is a five-story, masonry building in an eclectic Romanesque Revival style. It features a deep Chateauesque hip roof, fronted by two stepped gable parapets.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The Peter G. Van Winkle House was a historic home located in the Julia-Ann Square Historic District in Parkersburg, Wood County, West Virginia. It was built between about 1880 and 1899, and was a two-story duplex in the Queen Anne style. It featured a deck hipped roof with intersecting gables, turrets, and dormers. It was built on property once owned by former United States Senator Peter G. Van Winkle, who died in 1872. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. It was demolished in 1994. The nearby Van Winkle-Wix House remains extant.

The Smoot Theatre is a historic vaudeville house and movie theater located in Parkersburg, Wood County, West Virginia. It was built in 1926, and is a brick and terra cotta building with a simple Classical style front. It features a Greek key cornice and a second story inset with four fluted columns in antis.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The Mather Building, also known as Franklin & DeHaven Jewelers, was a historic commercial building located at Parkersburg, Wood County, West Virginia. It was built in 1898, and was a three- to four-story, red brick and sandstone building in the Classical style. The interior featured a fine tin ceiling and a built-in vault.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, and demolished on June 23, 2018.

The Union Trust National Bank, also known as the Union Trust and Deposit Company, is a historic bank building located at Parkersburg, Wood County, West Virginia. It was built in 1903–1904, and is a seven-story, five bay by seven bay, U-shaped, masonry building in the Classical style. The central bay features a projecting three-sided bay window. The building was ordered by Senator Johnson N. Camden (1828-1908).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The Elks Club was a historic clubhouse building located at Parkersburg, Wood County, West Virginia. It was designed by architect William Howe Patton and built in 1903. It was a four-story, three-bay by six-bay wide, red brick building with terra cotta trim in the Classical Revival style. The first two stories were faced in smooth dressed stone, and feature arched apertures, with central consoles. It was occupied by the Parkersburg Lodge #198, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (B.P.O.E.) It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. The building was by the Parkersburg News & Sentinel and demolished in 2005. It is now used as a parking lot.

Trinity Episcopal Church is a historic Episcopal church located in Parkersburg, Wood County, West Virginia. Records indicate that Episcopal services were conducted as early as 1815 by itinerant clergymen, but there was not a building so services were conducted in the county court. In 1843, the Rt. Rev. Wm. Meade, Bishop of Virginia, sent the Rev. Tho. Smith to be the vicar of a small congregation. The church property was given by John Snodgrass, a member of congress from this district. The first church's building began in 1846, and Rev. Smith died at age 48, before its completion. He was buried, by his request, under the front steps. He felt he was "a poor sinner and wanted to be trampled under the feet of all who entered." The first church was completed in 1850, with the rectory built in 1863, and occupied until 1919, when it was turned into office buildings and Sunday school rooms. The old church was torn down in 1878, and the present building completed and consecrated in 1879. The church's foundation stones come from Quincy Hill quarry. In 1913, the church was flooded and pews were taken up and stored higher, but the organ, furnaces and floor was destroyed. Another flood occurred in 1937, however, this one was not as severe, yet the pews were replaced. Trinity Hall was built in 1881, financed by children via plays and bake sales, with the cost totaling $750. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.Trinity Episcopal Church is locally renowned for the annual used book sale held each fall by its ECW (Episcopal Church Women). They are also well known for their Monday feeding ministry where they feed between 120 and 170 meals each Monday between 11:00 AM and noon.

Citizens National Bank was a historic bank building located at Parkersburg, Wood County, West Virginia. It was built in 1898, and was a five-story, nine bay by three bay, masonry building in the Classical style. It featured a combination of arches, applied pressed metal ornamentation, and during its latter years, in the shadows of missing hollow metal, broken pediments.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. The historic structure was demolished on June 23, 2018.

Trinity Episcopal Church Rectory is a historic church rectory at 430 Juliana Street in Parkersburg, Wood County, West Virginia. It is joined to the Trinity Episcopal Church located at 424 Juliana St., by a newer wing It was built in 1863, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, painted brick building in the Second Empire style. It features a concave profile mansard roof.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Blennerhassett Hotel is a historic hotel located at Parkersburg, Wood County, West Virginia. It opened in 1889 and is in the Queen Anne style. The hotel was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. A full restoration took place in 1986. (The hotel website states that the property is "registered as a national historic landmark". This is undoubtedly a mistake for it being placed on the National Register of Historic Places. Only about three percent of Register listings are NHLs.) In the late 1800s, money from the oil and natural gas industries flooded into Parkersburg, West Virginia, and the town quickly became a vivacious city that welcomed businessmen and visitors from all over the country. Designed and built by William Chancellor, a prominent Parkersburg businessman, Blennerhassett opened in 1889 and quickly became a grand showplace for what would later be known as the Gaslight Era. The original hotel had approximately 50 guest rooms around a central staircase. Restrooms were common places on each of the four guest floors and the kitchen was located on the fifth floor. What is now the hotel's game room originally housed the First National Bank of Parkersburg and had the luxury of electricity. The property was named after Harman and Margaret Blennerhassett, who settled on an island in the Ohio River in 1798 and built a Palladian mansion on their European-style estate (the island now called Blennerhassett Island). Their property was the envy of all locals, but they didn't rise to national fame until they allowed former Vice President Aaron Burr to use the island as the base of operations for his controversial military exhibition. Labeled as a conspiracy by some, the Blennerhassetts fled down the Ohio River to escape when militia invaded the island.

Gould House, also known as the Greater Parkersburg Chamber of Commerce, is a historic home located at Parkersburg, Wood County, West Virginia. It was built in 1888, and is a 2+1⁄2-story brick dwelling in an eclectic Late Victorian style. It consists of a central hipped block with projecting and intersecting gables and a hip roofed wing to the rear. It has housed the Chamber of Commerce since 1968.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Smith Building was a historic commercial building located at Parkersburg, Wood County, West Virginia. It was built in 1898, and is a three-story, 18 bay, brick building. It featured corbeled hanging buttresses at the corners and curved brickwork. It once housed a bowling alley, but storefronts later occupied the first floor. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
