The Shawnee Mission Post is a United States nonpartisan subscription-based online newspaper founded in 2010. It is updated daily, Mondays through Fridays.

Shawnee Mission West High School is a fully accredited public high school located in Overland Park, Kansas, United States, serving students in grades 9-12. Shawnee Mission West is one of several public high schools located within Overland Park and operated by Shawnee Mission USD 512 school district. The official school colors are black and gold and the school mascot is the Viking. Shawnee Mission West is a member of the Kansas State High School Activities Association and offers a variety of sports programs. Athletic teams compete in the 6A division and are known as the "Vikings". Extracurricular activities are also offered in the form of performing arts, school publications, and clubs.

The Strang Carriage House is a historical building and museum in Overland Park, Kansas. It was originally constructed by William B. Strang Jr. for his carriages, automobiles and to serve as a residence for his driver. The exterior of the building is constructed of rough limestone with a clay tile roof and still has the original doors from its construction (sometime around 1915).Since 1990, the structure serves as home to the Overland Park Historical Society and showcases a collection of items from the early history of Overland Park and the surrounding area. The location is considered suitable for enthusiasts to complete historical research.

Merriam is a city in Johnson County, Kansas, United States, and part of the Kansas City Metropolitan Area. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 11,098. Merriam is included in the Shawnee Mission postal designation. It is also the headquarters of Seaboard Corporation.

Overland Park is the second-most populous city in the U.S. state of Kansas. Located in Johnson County, it is also the second-most populous city in the Kansas City metropolitan area. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 197,238.

The Campbell Dome House is a historic, mid-century modern home located at 8126 Hamilton Drive in Overland Park, Kansas. Bob D. Campbell, a civil engineer, wanted to design a residence beneath a dome for his family, who were originally from South Texas, so that they could enjoy the "outdoors" all year. Campbell chose to use a Schwedler dome, which consists of meridional ribs connected to a number of horizontal polygonal rings, to accomplish this. He believed that incorporating domes into home design offered significant advantages and that the design represented the future of architecture as domes offered more space while using less material. Construction on the home began in 1967 and was finished in 1968.The 80-foot-diameter dome covers a U-shaped three-bedroom house that opens to a covered south-facing tropical courtyard with a 25-foot rubber tree, an in-ground pool, and banana and avocado trees. Campbell and his wife left the home to their children after they passed, who turned the dome into an event space. The home was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 7, 2022.

The Rio Theatre is a historic single-screen movie theater in Overland Park, Kansas that originally opened on December 25, 1946. The theater was designed by Robert O. Boller, with the Boller Brothers architecture firm. The theater's design and architecture is an example of the Moderne-style, incorporating the use of teal neon lights, peach porcelain tiles, glass blocks, and aluminum trim. The theater was purchased by the City of Overland Park in 1988 for historic preservation purposes. The theater reopened in 2000 as the independent Rio Theatre. The theater closed in March 2020 due to COVID-19 and underwent renovations but has not yet reopened.On February 9, 2005, the theater was placed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Kansas Christian College is a private, four-year Christian college in Overland Park, Kansas, United States, affiliated with the Church of God (Holiness). The college is accredited with the Association for Biblical Higher Education, a commission recognized by United States Department of Education. The sports programs associated fielded by Kansas Christian College are nicknamed the Falcons, and compete in the NCCAA.

The Strengthen the Arm of Liberty Monument in Overland Park, Kansas, is a replica of the Statue of Liberty (Liberty Enlightening the World). It was placed by the Boy Scouts of America as part of its 1950s era campaign, "Strengthen the Arm of Liberty".

Shawnee Mission District Stadium is a multi-purpose sport stadium located in Overland Park, Kansas. The facility is primarily used by Shawnee Mission North High School, Shawnee Mission Northwest High School and Shawnee Mission East High School. In the 2013 season of the National Women's Soccer League, the stadium served as the home field for FC Kansas City. Sporting Kansas City, then called the Kansas City Wizards, played at the stadium in a match against the Colorado Rapids during the 2008 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.The stadium is one of two in the Shawnee Mission School District. The other is at Shawnee Mission South High School.

Shawnee Mission North High School is a public secondary school in Overland Park, Kansas, United States, for grades 9–12. It is one of five high schools operated by Shawnee Mission USD 512 school district. The school colors are Cardinal red, Black and White and the school mascot is the Bison. The average annual enrollment is approximately 2,000 students. Shawnee Mission North High School was founded in 1922 in order to help educate the increasing number of students due to the emerging population of Shawnee Mission. Throughout the years, several expansions and add-ons were constructed to the school. In 1950, a large addition was added, finally connecting all of the buildings through hallways. A swimming pool and science wing were constructed in 1969 which connected to the south academic wing. A new library was added in the summer of 1997. In 2007, the school added a new auxiliary gym, new tennis courts, pool and auditorium remodeling, two new Biology classrooms, and expansion of the band and choir department. Shawnee Mission North is a member of the Kansas State High School Activities Association and offers a variety of sports programs. Athletic teams compete in the 6A division and are known as the Bison.
