Acaya

Vernole (Salentino: Ernule) is a town and comune in the Italian province of Lecce in the Apulia region of south-east Italy. The commune includes the village of Acaya, a fortified village with a castle.

Merine is an Italian village and hamlet (frazione) of the municipality of Lizzanello in the Province of Lecce, Apulia. As of 2011 its population was of 4,785.

Melendugno (Salentino: Melendugnu or Malandugnu) is a town and comune in the province of Lecce in the Apulia region of south-east Italy. It is known for its marine, which are bathing beaches on the Adriatic Sea: Roca Vecchia, San Foca, Torre dell'Orso and Torre Sant'Andrea, which were awarded the Blue Flag beach prize for the water quality. Melendugno also includes the frazione of Borgagne.

Caprarica di Lecce (Salentino: Crapàrica; Griko: Κραπάρεκα, Krapàreka) is a town and comune in the Italian province of Lecce. It is located in the Apulia region of south-east Italy. Antonio Verri (1949–1993) was a poet and writer who was born in the town.

Lizzanello (Salentino: Lizzanieḍḍu) is a town and comune in the province of Lecce in the Apulia region of south-east Italy. Lizzanello is located in the southeastern suburb of Lecce (6 km far), next to Cavallino, and is part of Salento. The municipality borders with Caprarica di Lecce, Castri di Lecce, Cavallino, Lecce and Vernole. It counts the hamlet (frazione) of Merine.

Calimera (Griko: Καλημέρα lit. 'good morning'), is a small town of 6,753 inhabitants (2021) in the Grecìa Salentina area of the Salento peninsula in Italy, located between Gallipoli and Otranto. It belongs to the province of Lecce. The inhabitants of Calimera, alongside Italian, also speak Griko, a Greek dialect. The language, folklore, traditions and history of Calimera, like those of the eight other cities in the area called "Salentine Greece", reveal significant Greek influences over the course of time, presumably from the time of the Byzantine control, or even the ancient Magna Graecia colonisation in the 8th century BCE. In the park, there is a small monument containing an ancient Attic burial stone, given by the city of Athens to Calimera in 1960. At the top of this monument is a motto, referring to the burial stone: "Zeni su en ise ettù sti Kalimera" (in Greek script: Τσένη 'σού 'εν είσαι ετού στη Καλημέρα), meaning "You are not a stranger here in Calimera", which underlines the close relationship and common origins of Calimera with the rest of Greek civilisation.

The Stadio Ettore Giardiniero - Via del Mare, known as Stadio Via del mare, is a multi-purpose stadium in Lecce, Italy. It is mostly used for football matches and is the home of U.S. Lecce. The stadium was built in 1966 and holds 40,670 seats. It takes its name from the street leading to the sea, and from the Lecce Mayor at the time of the first renovation of the stadium in 1985.

Martignano (Griko: Μαρτυνιάνα, translit. Martignàna) is a small town and comune of 1,770 inhabitants in the province of Lecce in Apulia, Italy. It is part of Salento and is one of the nine towns of Grecìa Salentina, an area where the Greek dialect Griko is spoken.

Galugnano is a railway station in Galugnano, Italy. The station is located on the Lecce–Otranto railway. The train services and the railway infrastructure are operated by Ferrovie del Sud Est.

The Castle of Charles V (Italian: Castello Carlo quinto; Leccese: Castellu Carlu Quintu), also known as the Castello di Lecce, is a castle in Lecce, Italy. It was first built in the Middle Ages, and was strengthened by Charles V in 1539, to a design by the architect Gian Giacomo dell’Acaya. To build this fortress two constructions were pulled down: the Chapel of the Trinity and the Monastery of the Benedictine Order of the Saint Cross. The castle did not have only defensive functions, in the 18th century one of its rooms was used as a theatre. From 1870 to 1979 it was used as military district. Nowadays it is the seat of the Cultural Affairs of the township of Lecce, a backdrop for many cultural initiatives. Visitors can remain charmed with the delicate ornaments of the interiors: the capitals and the decorated big room, with imposing big stained glass windows. The rooms of the upstairs are sustained by imposing stone columns. There is a legend linked with this castle: it tells that the family which owned this castle in the 14th century, the Orsini del Balzo family, kept a white bear in the moat of the castle. This animal was a status symbol and, at the same time, it scared prowlers.
