Mary A. Whalen, known as the S.T. Kiddoo from 1938 to 1958, is a historic oil tanker located in the Red Hook neighborhood of Brooklyn, Kings County, New York. She is the home of the non-profit PortSide NewYork, and the group runs programs aboard her. She was built in 1938 by the John J. Mathis Company, of Camden, New Jersey Hull #124, and measures 172 feet long. She is a rare surviving example of a "bell boat," a ship controlled from the engine room with telegraph signals sent from the bridge. The tanker shipped various fuel products along East Coast and was at center of United States v. Reliable Transfer Co., a pivotal 1975 Supreme Court decision in maritime law after she ran aground in Rockaway Inlet in 1968. She was in active service until 1994.: 3, 11 She was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.

The Cobble Hill Historic District is a municipal and national historic district located in the Cobble Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City. The national district consists of 796 contributing, largely residential buildings built between the 1830s and 1920s. It includes fine examples of Greek Revival, Italianate, and Queen Anne style row houses. Also in the district are a number of notable churches, including ones by Richard Upjohn (Christ Church, 1841–42) and Minard Lafever (St. Francis Cabrini Chapel, originally Strong Place Baptist Church), 1851–52). A number of early 20th century apartment buildings are part of the district as well.The Cobble Hill Historic District was first designated a New York City landmark by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission in 1969. It was then listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. The city extended the district in 1988.

Cobble Hill is a neighborhood in the northwestern portion of the New York City borough of Brooklyn. A small neighborhood comprising 40 blocks, Cobble Hill sits adjacent to Brooklyn Heights to the north, Boerum Hill to the east, Carroll Gardens to the south, and the Columbia Street Waterfront District to the west. The John Rankin House at 440 Clinton Street at the corner of Carroll Street in the Carroll Gardens neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City was built in the Greek Revival style in 1840, at which time it stood by itself, surrounded by farmland and overlooking Upper New York Bay.Rankin was a merchant, and the mansion, one of the finest Greek Revival houses in the city, was one of the largest residences in Brooklyn in the 1840s. It is a three-story, square brick building on a stone foundation. The interior features a massive mahogany stairway with paneled wainscotting.It was designated a New York City landmark in 1970, and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. Currently it is the F. G. Guido Funeral Home.
