Battle of Palermo

The Foro Italico (Italian Forum) is a pedestrian path and park along the seafront of Palermo, Sicily, Italy. In 1582, viceroy Marcantonio Colonna created a walking path in this part of the coast, that became a favorite destination for the leisure of the upper classes of the city in the 17th and 18th centuries. Until the integration of Sicily into the Kingdom of Italy, the park had been called Foro Borbonico or Siciliano, but by the 20th-century, it had been renamed Foro Italico. It is entirely pedestrian, is approximately 40,000 m2 in size, with large lawns, Mediterranean flora of various kinds, benches, trees, ceramic sculptures, a bike path, night lighting and a wide scenic walk along the coast. It was redeveloped in 2003, when the lawn, the pedestrian paths, the public lighting, and an irrigation system were improved. The project was carried out by the technicians of the municipality of Palermo.Since April 2018 the Foro has hosted a weekly 5km Parkrun.

The Church of Saint Mary of Pity (Italian: Chiesa di Santa Maria della Pietà) is a Baroque church of Palermo. It is located at the corner of Via Alloro and Via Torremuzza in the quarter of the Kalsa, within the historic centre of Palermo.

The Villa Giulia, also known as Villa del Popolo, and as Villa Flor is an urban public park, lying to the east of the Botanical Garden of Palermo, in the region of Sicily, Italy.

San Mattia ai Crociferi is a Baroque-style, deconsecrated church, located on Via Torremuza #18 in the Kalsa quarter of central of Palermo, region of Sicily, Italy. Just diagonal, and to the north is the church of Santa Maria della Pietà. The church and adjacent seminary was designed by Giacomo Amato and completed in 1686 for the Camillians, known locally as the Crociferi due to their habit of a black cassock with a large red cross. In 1866, the order was suppressed and the building is now used by the municipality for cultural exhibits and concerts. The interior of the church has an octagonal room under a dome.

The Oreto is a 22-kilometre (14 mi) river in Sicily. Its source is located between Altofonte and Monreale, a few kilometers from Palermo. It gives the name to the Oreto Valley and crosses the south-east portion of the city before flowing into the Tyrrhenian Sea. Called "Wādī al-ʿAbbās" during the Islamic period, the river has had an important role in the history of Palermo. In the 12th century, in order to cross it, the Ammiratus ammiratorum George of Antioch built the Admiral's Bridge.

Santa Maria degli Agonizzanti or Holy Mary of those in agony) is a Baroque-style, Roman Catholic church located on via Giovanni da Procida, just south of Via Roma, in central Palermo, region of Sicily, Italy. It is located in the quarter of the Kalsa, within the historic centre of Palermo. The church was founded in 1630 under the patronage of the Confraternity of Santa Maria degli Agonizzanti, which ministered to those condemned to execution. This function seems to have shifted in 1799, when executions were performed near the Ponte dell'Ammiraglio, and the decapitated bodies buried in a common fossa in a park that stood in front of the small church, once known as the Madonna del Fiume due to the nearby Oreto River, but presently as the Sanctuario ai Decollati (Sanctuary for the Decapitated). Burials here ceased in 1867. In 1784, the church was refurbished by the architect Antonio Interguglielmi. The interior has a restrained neoclassical decoration. In the apse are frescoes depicting the Life of the Virgin Mary by Elia Interguglielmi, brother of Antonio. The main altar was decorated with works by Ignazio Marabitti. The statues of the four doctors of the Church, which line the nave, were completed by Gaspare Firriolo.

The Church of Saint Teresa (Italian: Chiesa di Santa Teresa or Santa Teresa alla Kalsa) is a Baroque Roman Catholic church, located on Piazza della Kalsa, facing the Porta de Greci (now Palazzo Forcella de Seta) in the ancient quarter of the Kalsa of the city of Palermo, region of Sicily, Italy.

The Antonio Pasqualino International Puppet Museum of Palermo operates in the field of national and international, traditional and contemporary puppetry. Founded in 1975 by the Association for the Conservation of Popular Traditions, it houses a vast collection of over 5,000 pieces, including marionettes, hand puppets, shadow puppets, and stage machines from all over the world. Among these, the museum preserves the largest and most complete collection of pupi of the Palermo, Catania, and Neapolitan type and constitutes a center for the safeguarding, conservation, enhancement, promotion and dissemination of the heritage linked to this theatrical practice which is representative of the identity of the territory. The collection is enriched by numerous materials used in the other puppet traditions that, as well as Sicilian Opera dei pupi, have been declared by UNESCO as Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity as well as contemporary artist's puppets created as part of the museum's new productions.For the correlation and synergy between its multiple activities and functions, the Antonio Pasqualino International Puppet Museum, which has become more and more a "performance museum", was awarded the anthropological prize "Costantino Nigra" in 2001 for the museums section and in October 2017 the ICOM Italia Award – "Museum of the Year" which rewarded its attractiveness in relation to the public.

The Fontana del Genio a Villa Giulia or Genio di Villa Giulia is a sculpted water fountain in the park of the Villa Giulia in Palermo. It was sculpted by Ignazio Marabitti in 1778 and shows the Genius of Palermo.

The Oratorio dei Bianchi is a Baroque chapel or prayer room located on the Piazzeta dei Bianchi, about equidistant between the churches of Santa Maria dello Spasimo and Santa Teresa alla Kalsa in the quarter of the Kalsa, within the historic centre of Palermo, region of Sicily, Italy.

Palazzo Abatellis (also known as Palazzo Patella) is a palazzo in Palermo, Sicily, southern Italy, located in the Kalsa quarter. It is home to the Galleria Regionale della Sicilia, the Gallery of Art for the Sicilian region.
