Hendon railway station was the only station on the Hendon branch line in the western Adelaide suburb of Hendon. Used mainly for industrial purposes in the mid 20th century, the line diverged from Albert Park station and ran for 1.1 kilometres.

The eastern end of West Lakes Boulevard now covers most of the path of the track.

Cheltenham is a single-member electoral district for the South Australian House of Assembly. Named after the suburb of the same name, it is a 17.5 km² suburban electorate in Adelaide's north-west, taking in the suburbs of Albert Park, Alberton, Beverley, Cheltenham, Findon, Hendon, Pennington, Queenstown, St Clair, Woodville, Woodville North, Woodville Park, Woodville South, Woodville West, and part of Rosewater. The Cheltenham electorate is inside the federal-level electorate of Port Adelaide. Cheltenham was created in the 1998 electoral distribution as a safe Labor seat, replacing the abolished seat of Price. In August 2001 the 17-year Price incumbent Murray De Laine was defeated in a factional preselection in favour of future premier Jay Weatherill. De Laine subsequently contested the 2002 election as an independent with 9.7% of the primary vote. In the 2016 electoral boundary redistribution, the suburbs of Beverley and Woodville Park were added to the seat from Croydon district, while Athol Park was lost to Croydon district, Royal Park was lost to Lee district and portions of Port Adelaide and Rosewater shifted into Port Adelaide district. The current member is Joe Szakacs of the Labor Party. Szakacs was elected in the 2019 Cheltenham state by-election on 9 February, replacing former premier Jay Weatherill.

Royal Park is located in the western suburbs of Adelaide. It is home to a large Polish community, as evidenced by the establishment of St Stanislaus of Cracow Catholic Church. Other ethnic groups represented include Italian, Croatian, Bosnian, Irish, Macedonian and Greek. At that time there was still a tribe of Aborigines living around the wetlands west of Royal Park that is now the suburb of West Lakes. In the 1950s a few streets at the southern end of Royal Park were allocated for Government Public Housing developments through the South Australian Housing Trust. In recent years, there has been large-scale re-developments that include private housing and a soon-to-be-built retirement village.

Woodville West is a suburb of Adelaide, situated about 9 kilometres northwest of the Central Business District. It lies within the City of Charles Sturt. The postcode of Woodville West is 5011. Woodville West is bounded by the railway line and Port Road in the north, Findon Road in the east, Trimmer Parade, Todville Street and Minns Street East in the south, and Frank Mitchell Park, Agnes Street and the railway line in the west. As of 2011, Renewal SA and the City of Charles Sturt have been implementing the Woodville West Neighbourhood Renewal Project, which involves an $130m property development.

Cheltenham Cemetery, originally the Port Adelaide and Suburban Cemetery, Cheltenham but known as Woodville Cemetery, was established in 1876 by the Port Adelaide Corporation. Funds were allocated for the cemetery by the South Australian colonial administration in 1874. The first recorded burial was Mrs. Hannah Mussared on 27 Jul 1876. There is an Islamic cemetery located nearby too.
