Bernstadt is an unincorporated community located in Laurel County, Kentucky, located about 6 miles (9.7 km) west of London, Kentucky, the county seat. Its population was estimated to be 400 in 1997 and is the location of the First Evangelical Reformed Church, listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Wood Creek Lake is a 672-acre (2.72 km2) reservoir in Laurel County, Kentucky. Created by impounding Wood Creek in 1969, the lake is in the middle of Daniel Boone National Forest.Wood Creek Lake Dam is a rock-fill dam, 163 feet (50 m) high and 800 feet (240 m) long at its crest, with a maximum capacity of 29,101 acre-feet (35,896,000 m3). The dam and lake are owned by the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Vicki Jones is the district Superintendent.Of the state's current 51 independent school districts, roughly defined by state law as those whose service area does not cover most or all of a county, East Bernstadt is one of four that do not operate a high school, the others being Anchorage in Jefferson County, Science Hill in Pulaski County, and Southgate in Campbell County.

Laurel County is a county located in the southeastern portion of the U.S. state of Kentucky. As of the 2020 census, the population was 62,613. Its county seat is London. After a special election in January 2016 alcohol sales are permitted only in the city limits of London. The ordinance went into effect on March 27, 2016, 60 days after results of the election. Laurel County is included in the London, KY Micropolitan Statistical Area.

London is a home rule-class city in Laurel County, Kentucky, in the United States. It is the seat of its county. The population was 8,053 at the time of the 2020 census. It is the second-largest city named "London" in the United States and the fourth-largest in the world. It is part of the London, Kentucky micropolitan area. Of the seventeen micropolitan areas in Kentucky, London is the largest; the London micropolitan area's 2010 Census population was 126,368. London is also home to the annual World Chicken Festival that celebrates the life of Colonel Sanders and features the world's largest skillet.

Sue Bennett College was a private college in London, Kentucky which operated from 1897 through 1997. It was affiliated originally with the Methodist Episcopal Church, South and later the United Methodist Church. It began as an elementary school and ended its days as a four-year college.

The Poynter Building, on Main St. in London, Kentucky, was built in 1910. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. It is a two-story common bond brick commercial building placed prominently on a corner in downtown London. It held the first drugstore in London. It was deemed "significant as the best example of turn of the century commercial architecture in London and because of its association with the development of significant modern commercial and communication facilities in London."

The Federal Building-Courthouse in London, Kentucky is a courthouse of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky. It was built in 1911 under the supervision of architect James Knox Taylor, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

Sublimity City is an unincorporated community located in Laurel County, Kentucky, United States. Originally known as the Sublimity Forest Community, it was developed under the authority of the Emergency Relief Appropriation Act of 1935.
