Kennebunkport Historic District

The Louis T. Graves Memorial Public Library is the public library of Kennebunkport, Maine. It is located at 18 Maine Street, in a handsome brick Federal style building that served as the U.S. Customhouse from 1815 until 1913. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on January 18, 1974.

Kennebunkport is a resort town in York County, Maine, United States. The population was 3,629 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Portland metropolitan area. The town center, the area in and around Dock Square, is located along the Kennebunk River, approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) from the mouth of the river on the Atlantic Ocean. The Kennebunkport Christmas Prelude takes place annually in the town, beginning either in late November or early December. Kennebunkport has a reputation as a summer haven for the upper class and is one of the wealthiest communities in the state of Maine. The Municipality of Kennebunkport includes the constituent villages of Kennebunkport Village, Cape Arundel & Colony Beach, the Cottage Coast, Wilde's District (Wildwood), Goose Rocks Beach, Tributts Creek, Cape Porpoise Village, North Village Crossing (Townhouse Corner), among various other newer developments. The town is the home of Walker's Point, a summer estate of the Bush family. Kennebunkport and neighboring towns Kennebunk and Arundel comprise school district RSU 21.

Dock Square is a public square in Kennebunkport, Maine, United States. It stands at the intersections of Western Avenue, Spring Street and Ocean Avenue and extends southwest to the Mathew J. Lanigan Bridge separating Kennebunkport from Kennebunk. The square is popular with tourists browsing the shops, boutiques and galleries, housed in former homes and 18th-century warehouses. The town's Christmas Prelude sees a Christmas tree being lit in the center of the square, a tradition begun in 1982. In addition, a fireworks festival is held in the square annually on July 4. Former U.S. president George H. W. Bush and first lady Barbara often shopped in Dock Square while staying at nearby Walker's Point Estate.

The Clam Shack is a seafood restaurant in Kennebunkport, Maine that serves its food for take-out. It has been in operation since 1968 and serves dishes from New England's cuisine. It is especially known for its lobster rolls. The shack has won accolades from magazines like Gourmet and Travel + Leisure. It is only open from May to October. Many celebrities have been spotted at the restaurant.

The Melville Walker House is an inn on Maine Street in the Kennebunkport Historic District in Kennebunkport, Maine. The inn was added to the National Register of Historic Places as part of the Kennebunkport Historic District on May 6, 1976. It is now known as AWOL Kennebunkport.

The Captain Nathaniel Lord Mansion is a historic house at 6 Pleasant Street in the village center of Kennebunkport, Maine. Built in 1812 by a wealthy shipowner, it is a fine example of Federal period architecture, which remained in the same family until 1972. It is now a bed and breakfast called The Captain Lord Mansion, Inn & Spa. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

The Perkins Tide Mill was one of the last surviving 18th-century tide mills in the United States. Located on Mill Lane in Kennebunkport, Maine, it was built in 1749 and operated until 1939. It was destroyed by an arsonist in 1994. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, the property's present owners, the Kennebunkport Conservation Trust, are contemplating construction of a replica.

White Barn Inn is a hotel and restaurant in Kennebunk, Maine, United States. Established in 1973 and located on Beach Avenue, the restaurant utilizes a remodeled barn, while the adjacent main inn building dates from the 1860s. It has a AAA 4 Diamond rating, having previously reached 5 Diamonds. The business is part of the Auberge Resorts Collection.

The Abbott Graves House is a historic house at 86 Ocean Avenue in Kennebunkport, Maine. Built in 1905 by Abbott Fuller Graves to his own design, it is one of only two known examples of the Prairie School of architecture in the state of Maine. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

Kennebunkport is a census-designated place (CDP) consisting of the central village in the town of Kennebunkport in York County, Maine, United States. The population was 1,238 at the 2010 census, out of a total town population of 3,474. It is part of the Portland–South Portland–Biddeford, Maine Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The Cape Arundel Golf Club, originally just the Arundel Golf Club, is a country club at 19 River Road in Kennebunkport, Maine. Established in 1896, it is one of the oldest golf clubs in the state. Its 18-hole course was laid out in two stages, with its original nine holes designed by Alexander H. Findley in 1900, and later redesigned and expanded by Walter Travis. The club has long been a social scene for the summer elite of the Kennebunkport area, notably including former United States President George H. W. Bush. The club was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

The Kennebunk River Club is a private recreational and social club at 116 Ocean Avenue in Kennebunkport, Maine. Established in 1888 by summer residents of the resort area, its main building, constructed the following year, is a high-quality example of Shingle style architecture, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.
