Richland Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan

The Richland Historic District is a commercial and residential historic district located in the center of Richland, Michigan, containing structures near the intersection of 32nd Street, D Avenue, and Gull Road (including those on Church, Park, and Railroad Streets). The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.

Richland is a village in Kalamazoo County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 751 at the 2010 census, up from 593 at the 2000 census. The village is within Richland Township, about 9 miles (14 km) northeast of Kalamazoo.

Gull Lake High School is part of the Gull Lake Community Schools in Richland, Michigan. The district was consolidated in the early 1960s from the existing Richland, Kellogg, and Bedford secondary schools and serves nearly 1000 students from a three-county area: NE Kalamazoo, NW Calhoun, and Southern Barry Counties. The school mascot is the Blue Devil.

Gull Lake is a lake in the U.S. state of Michigan, located mostly in Kalamazoo County with the northern tip extending into Barry County. The nearest major cities are Kalamazoo, 11 miles (18 km) to the southwest, and Battle Creek, 13 miles (21 km) to the southeast. The name was probably derived from the seagulls which at times come inland from Lake Michigan in large numbers. The total surface area of this lake is 2,030 acres (8 km2), with maximum depths of 110 feet (34 m). This deep, clear lake has numerous holes in excess of 75 ft (23 m), and has one large island in the south end. The shoreline of the lake is fully developed, and is ringed with homes and cottages. A notable sport fishery exists in the lake for Rainbow trout, Lake trout, Land-locked salmon, Smelt, Smallmouth bass, and Yellow perch. Many other species of fish such as bluegill, Largemouth bass, Smallmouth bass, and Northern Pike are home to this lake. Given the proximity of this lake to large centers of population, coupled with the extensive number of riparian property owners, with one public access, the lake is extensively used by boaters during the warm summer months, and can become quite congested with water traffic.

Comstock Northwest is a census-designated place (CDP) in Kalamazoo County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 5,455 at the 2010 census, up from 4,472 at the 2000 census.

WKMI (1360 AM) is a radio station licensed to Kalamazoo, Michigan broadcasting a news-talk format. WKMI is an affiliate of the Grand Valley State Laker football radio network.WKMI, which began broadcasting in 1947, was a highly rated Top 40 music station from the 1950s through the 1970s. The station moved to an Adult Contemporary format to compete with WKZO during the early 1980s, and then switched to its current talk format in 1990 as the Persian Gulf War created a boom for talk radio. An FM sister at 106.5 was added in 1964; WKMI-FM is now WVFM and no longer co-owned. On August 30, 2013, a deal was announced in which Townsquare Media would acquire 53 stations from Cumulus Media, including WKMI, for $238 million. The deal was part of Cumulus' acquisition of Dial Global; Townsquare and Dial Global were both controlled by Oaktree Capital Management. The sale to Townsquare was completed on November 14, 2013.

Kellogg Biological Station (KBS), Michigan State University's largest off-campus education complex, is located in Ross Township south of Hickory Corners, Michigan (about 65 miles (105 km) from the main campus). Many of the facilities there were originally built by Will Keith Kellogg of Kellogg's cereal, after whom the station is named. KBS includes nearly 16.5 square kilometres (4,100 acres) of land and, together with nearby state lands and preserves, allows for large-scale studies by biologists. The National Science Foundation has a Long-Term Ecological Research site at KBS. KBS offers classes to undergraduate and graduate students in biology-related fields, including the Enhancing Linkages between Mathematics and Ecology (ELME) program, which consists of three weeks of mathematics and four weeks of field work.

WMUK (102.1 FM) is a non profit public radio station in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Owned and operated by Western Michigan University, WMUK broadcasts at an effective radiated power of 50,000 watts. WMUK is a charter member of both National Public Radio and the Michigan Public Radio Network. The station is also an affiliate of Public Radio International. WMUK provides a mix of local and syndicated programming. WMUK is one of the two local Kalamazoo radio stations broadcasting in HD Radio; the other is WKFR. It also operates an HD2 side channel with a classical music format as WMUK Classical, which is simulcast on Kalamazoo Public Schools-owned WKDS 89.9 FM. In January 2020, WMUK eliminated classical music programming from its daytime schedule and became a full news/talk station during the day, with jazz continuing overnights. In addition to the already-running news programs Morning Edition, All Things Considered, As It Happens and Marketplace, WMUK added On Point, The Takeaway, 1A, Fresh Air and The Daily to its weekday schedule. Classical music programming moved to WMUK-HD2 and WKDS.

Comstock High School is a secondary school within the Comstock Public School District located in Comstock Charter Township near the city of Kalamazoo, Michigan, United States. Comstock High School primarily serves the western half of Comstock Township, as well as portions of Kalamazoo Township, Pavilion Township, City of Portage, and the City of Kalamazoo. Enrollment at Comstock High School averages around 650 students (2,500 students district-wide). Students within the district have the option to enroll at Comstock Compass High School, which is an alternative to the traditional high school classes provided at Comstock High School. Comstock High School was named one of America's best high schools by U.S. News & World Report in 2010.

Comstock Charter Township is a charter township of Kalamazoo County in the U.S. state of Michigan, located east of the city of Kalamazoo and is part of the Kalamazoo–Portage Metropolitan Area. The 2010 census recorded the population within the township at 14,854.

The Michigan Motor Sports Hall of Fame is a non-profit hall of fame for Michigan auto racers. It was founded in 1982 by Dick Lee and was incorporated April 19, 1982, as a non-profit 501(c) (3) non-stock Michigan corporation. The Michigan Motor Sports Hall of Fame display is currently located at the Gilmore Car Museum in Hickory Corners. It is in conjunction with their "History of Stock Car Racing" display. The Michigan Motor Sports Hall of Fame exhibit was located at the R. E. Olds Transportation Museum in Lansing from 1994 thru 2006.

The Gilmore Car Museum is an automobile museum located in Hickory Corners, Michigan, United States. The museum exhibits over 400 vintage and collector vehicles and motorcycles from all eras in several vintage buildings located on a 90-acre campus. The museum claims to be the largest automobile museum in North America. It is part of the MotorCities National Heritage Area.The museum opened in 1966 exhibiting the car collection of Donald S. Gilmore, a local businessman. Today, its collection consists of over 500 vehicles, including an 1899 Locomobile Steam Car and a 1930 Rolls-Royce prop car used in the 1967 film The Gnome-Mobile. The museum also claims to have the largest display of automotive mascots and name badges in North America. The campus includes a 1941 Blue Moon Diner and a replica 1930s Shell fuel station.
