WKMI (1360 AM) is a radio station licensed to Kalamazoo, Michigan broadcasting a news-talk format. WKMI is an affiliate of the Grand Valley State Laker football radio network.WKMI, which began broadcasting in 1947, was a highly rated Top 40 music station from the 1950s through the 1970s. The station moved to an Adult Contemporary format to compete with WKZO during the early 1980s, and then switched to its current talk format in 1990 as the Persian Gulf War created a boom for talk radio. An FM sister at 106.5 was added in 1964; WKMI-FM is now WVFM and no longer co-owned. On August 30, 2013, a deal was announced in which Townsquare Media would acquire 53 stations from Cumulus Media, including WKMI, for $238 million. The deal was part of Cumulus' acquisition of Dial Global; Townsquare and Dial Global were both controlled by Oaktree Capital Management. The sale to Townsquare was completed on November 14, 2013.

Comstock High School is a secondary school within the Comstock Public School District located in Comstock Charter Township near the city of Kalamazoo, Michigan, United States. Comstock High School primarily serves the western half of Comstock Township, as well as portions of Kalamazoo Township, Pavilion Township, City of Portage, and the City of Kalamazoo. Enrollment at Comstock High School averages around 650 students (2,500 students district-wide). Students within the district have the option to enroll at Comstock Compass High School, which is an alternative to the traditional high school classes provided at Comstock High School. Comstock High School was named one of America's best high schools by U.S. News & World Report in 2010.

Comstock Compass High School is an alternative high school in the Comstock Public School District in Kalamazoo, Michigan designed for non-traditional students who have struggled in traditional high school programs. As of 2011 the school had a staff of eight teachers and an enrollment of 210 high school students and 70 adult education students.In 2009, Compass adopted the Michigan Merit Curriculum, which requires students pass a core of classes which includes Algebra 2, Physics, and Chemistry; students need 19 total credits to graduate. After the 2009-2010 school year, the school did not meet Adequate Yearly Progress standards for the state of Michigan.Compass offers an online curriculum as well as a dual enrollment program that allows high school students to receive college credit from Kalamazoo Valley Community College. Additionally, it offers a General Educational Development (GED) program and a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training program.

Eastwood is an unincorporated community in Kalamazoo Charter Township, Kalamazoo County in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is a census-designated place (CDP) for statistical purposes and does not have any legal status as an incorporated municipality. The population was 6,340 at the 2010 census.

Comstock Charter Township is a charter township of Kalamazoo County in the U.S. state of Michigan, located east of the city of Kalamazoo and is part of the Kalamazoo–Portage Metropolitan Area. The 2010 census recorded the population within the township at 14,854.

The name is derived from the parchment company that used to manufacture paper on the East bank of the Kalamazoo River. Parchment is located just northeast of the city of Kalamazoo, and it is mostly surrounded by Kalamazoo Township.

WKZO (590 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station in Kalamazoo, Michigan. It is owned by Midwest Communications, Inc., and airs a talk radio format. The studios and offices are on West Main Street in Kalamazoo. WKZO's transmitter is a four-tower array on McKinley Street at 21st Street North in Cooper Township, Michigan. The station operates at 5,000 watts, using a non-directional antenna by day. Due to its location near the bottom of the AM dial, as well as its transmitter power and West Michigan's mostly flat land (with near-perfect ground conductivity), its daytime signal reaches much of the southwestern Lower Peninsula, with Grade B coverage as far east as Lansing, as far south as South Bend and as far north as Mount Pleasant. But at night, to protect other stations on AM 590, WKZO switches to a directional antenna, with power fed to all four towers. Much of the nighttime signal is directed north, concentrating it in the Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids areas. WKZO programming is also on a 200-watt FM translator, 106.9 W295CL, heard in Kalamazoo and adjacent communities.

Engine House No. 3 is a former fire station located at 607 Charlotte Avenue in Kalamazoo, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Homer Stryker Field is a stadium in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The baseball field is located in Kalamazoo's Mayors Riverfront Park. It is primarily used for baseball, and is the home field for the Kalamazoo Growlers of the collegiate summer baseball Northwoods League. It used to be the home field of the Kalamazoo Kings minor league baseball team in the Frontier League. It opened in 1963, and holds 4,000 people.Homer Stryker Field became the home of the Kalamazoo Kings in 2001. It had hosted the Kodiaks, another Frontier League team; each team has made some renovations to a facility that has been in use in some form since 1925, although the oldest part of the current structure, a concrete grandstand now with aluminum benches, appears to date to 1963. The 1995 renovation added new aluminum seating and a press box above the old grandstand, along with some additional bleacher sections flanking the central stand. Some new outbuildings have been constructed in the last few years. The field is somewhat unorthodox in that home plate is at the northeast corner of the grounds; traditionally and commonly, baseball fields have home plate at the westernmost end of the grounds so batters do not have to face the sun while hitting. Homer Stryker was the patriarch of the Stryker Corporation. The Stryker family bought the naming rights in 2002 and placed Homer's name on the field.

Soisson-Rapacz-Clason Field, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, is a 2,200 seat multipurpose stadium. Its primary tenants are Kalamazoo Christian High School, Hackett Catholic Central High School and Kalamazoo FC of USL League Two. They also hosted the Kalamazoo Outrage, a soccer team playing in the USL Premier Development League from 2007 to 2010. Soisson-Rapacz Field was also home to the Kalamazoo Lassies of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League from 1950-1954. The Lassies were one of the more popular teams in the AAGPBL, routinely drawing crowds of over 1,000 spectators. They won the League championship in 1954, the last year of the AAGPBL. [3]
