St Andrew's Secondary School is an 11–18 mixed, Roman Catholic comprehensive secondary school in Glasgow, Scotland. Its catchment area includes much of the East End of the city, including such districts as Baillieston, Craigend, Cranhill, Easterhouse, Greenfield, Shettleston, Tollcross and Wellhouse.

Lightburn Hospital is a health facility in Carntyne Road, Glasgow, Scotland. It is managed by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

Cranhill is an inner city district and housing scheme in the north east of Glasgow, Scotland. Cranhill was developed from public funding in the early 1950s and was originally, chiefly composed of four-storey tenement blocks surrounding a patch of grassland, which became Cranhill Park. Later development saw the building of three tower blocks (locally, high-flats), surrounded by rows of terraced maisonettes. In more recent years, a number of semi-detached and detached homes have been built. The area also hosts some shops, two primary schools and nurseries, a community centre and the Cranhill water tower. Infamous for its illegal drug trade and anti-social youth culture, Cranhill was often dubbed "Smack City" in the media. The community was redeveloped from the late 1990s, although unemployment stood at 50% as of 2009.

Greenfield is a neighbourhood in the east end of the Scottish city of Glasgow, north of the River Clyde. The estate was built on the grounds of Greenfield House which was demolished to make way for the new scheme which was built in the 1960s.The area is also home to a recently upgraded football centre, used for amateur games, and a public park.Greenfield lies south of Cranhill, north of Shettleston, east of Carntyne and west of Springboig and Budhill. Housing in the area is in the form of terraced housing, tenements and maisonettes. There are also some prefab houses surviving from the 1940s.Greenfield was one of the areas affected by the 2002 Glasgow floods. It has three schools.

Glasgow United Football Club are a Scottish football club based in Shettleston, in the East End of Glasgow. Nicknamed the Town, they were formed in 1903 as Shettleston Juniors Football & Athletic Club and renamed prior to the 2021–22 season. The club continues to play at Greenfield Park and currently competes in the West of Scotland League. Shettleston reached the final of the 1958–59 Scottish Junior Cup, losing 2–1 to Irvine Meadow in front of a crowd of 65,211 fans at Hampden Park. Their fortunes have been mixed in recent years, flitting between the various divisions of the league they have been based in, although they managed to reach the semi-finals of the Scottish Junior Cup in 2000–01, and the quarter-finals of the same competition in 2001–02 and 2014–15. The team have been led jointly since January 2017 by Club owner Hugh Kelly & Bernard ‘Bernie’ Beacom. Kelly & Beacom replaced the previous management team of Peter Weatherson and Ryan McStay. On 26 January 2022, the club confirmed Rab Stevenson as their new manager. The current squad includes David Goodwillie, and the surrounding controversy has led to threats of eviction from their facilities by Glasgow City Council leader Susan Aitken. However the club have chosen to support their player 'with his mental health and will continue to do so'.

Shettleston (Scots: Shuttlestoun, Scottish Gaelic: Baile Nighean Sheadna) is an area in the east end of Glasgow in Scotland.

Carntyne railway station serves the Carntyne area of Glasgow, Scotland. The station is 2¾ miles (4 km) east of Glasgow Queen Street railway station on the North Clyde Line. The station is managed by ScotRail. The ticket office, constructed when the line was electrified by British Railways in 1960, was cleared away in the early 1990s leaving Carntyne station unstaffed and with only basic 'bus stop'-style shelters on the platforms for passengers to use.

Shettleston New Church is an early 20th-century church building of the Church of Scotland in the Shettleston district of Glasgow, Scotland.

Ruchazie ( rukh-HAY-zee) is a neighbourhood in the Scottish city of Glasgow. It is situated to the north-east of the city, bordered by Craigend and Garthamlock to the east and the open ground of Hogganfield Park and Lethamhill Golf Course to the north. Ruchazie is separated from Cranhill to the south and Riddrie to the west by the M8 motorway (Junctions 11 and 12 of which directly serve the area), previously the route of the Monkland Canal. A small hamlet existed in the area from at least the 18th to the mid-20th century near to the Gartcraig Colliery, located where the local housing office now stands. There was also a productive brick works at Gartcraig from the 1870s to the 1920s, and two country house estates, Croftcroighn and Craigend. Developed for housing as part of the city's 'Greater Easterhouse' programme in the 1950s, mostly consisting of tenements, the neighbourhood was at the centre of the Glasgow Ice Cream Wars in the 1980s which culminated in the death of a local family when their flat was set on fire, and also suffered from the habitual territorial gang violence in the area, with rival 'young teams' not only from the surrounding schemes but within the fairly small Ruchazie itself, with a gang from each of its three clusters of streets. The area has experienced considerable regeneration and improvement in the early 21st century through Tower Homes LHO and Ruchazie Housing Association. Ruchazie is the only district in Glasgow that does not have a public house. In August 2009, construction of a Soccerworld five-a-sides complex situated on ground between Croftcroighn Road and the M8 motorway (formerly Whitehill Secondary Former Pupils F.C. playing fields) was completed and opened to the public. The facility includes a soft play area, female-only gym and a licensed bar. There were two churches in the area: Ruchazie Parish Community Church and the Roman Catholic St Philip's, which closed in 2014. The local schools had already closed and been merged with others in the early 2000s.Singer Jim Diamond grew up in ruchazie and attended St. Philips RC primary school . In 2016, Glasgow City Council outlined masterplans for the development of the Greater Easterhouse area (including Ruchazie) over the next 20 years.

Budhill is a neighbourhood in the east end of Glasgow. It is situated north of the River Clyde. It is situated between Springboig to the north-east, Greenfield to the north-west and Shettleston to the south. The area is associated with Scottish rock band The Fratellis, where the band used to play in a studio above a Chinese restaurant. The Fratellis also released a collection of songs from 2006 to the present day, called 'The Budhill Singles Club'. The name "Budhill" refers to the area of Glasgow where Barry was born. They also visit Budhill Square during the video for Creepin' Up the Backstairs. Budhill Square is also the location of Shettleston railway station (managed by ScotRail). A large Tesco supermarket and Aldi serve this area on the Shettleston side of the railway. Budhill Park has a play area and a football pitch which is the home ground of women's amateur team Glasgow Girls F.C.

Eastbank Academy is a Scottish secondary school in the suburb of Shettleston in Glasgow, Scotland. Today the institution is a non-denominational comprehensive school, and its catchment area includes Shettleston, Tollcross, Sandyhills, Mount Vernon, Springboig and Barlanark. Pupils from the neighbouring areas of Carntyne, Parkhead and Garrowhill also make up a small proportion of its roll.
