Established in 1988, Macleay College is an Australian accredited higher education provider located in Chippendale, New South Wales. It offers two-year Bachelor degrees in advertising and media, digital media, journalism and business; and one-year Diploma courses in journalism, advertising and media, digital media, marketing and business management, with specialisations available in event management, entrepreneurship, real estate, public relations, travel and tourism or sports business. In 2015 Macleay opened a Melbourne campus located at Swanston Street in the Melbourne CBD. Since its founding Macleay College has been a family owned business, transferring ownership to Sarah Stavrow in 2021.

Sydney Dental Hospital (SDH) is in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, in Surry Hills, between Chalmers Street and Elizabeth Street opposite the entrance to Central railway station.SDH provides both specialist treatment and general dental services. Specialist treatment is provided to people referred statewide for Paediatric Dentistry, Orthodontics, Periodontics, Oral Surgery and Diagnostic Imaging, Prosthodontics, Endodontics, Oral Pathology, Oral and Maxillo-facial Surgery and Implantology services. The Special Care Dental Unit provides care to those with chronic mental health conditions and the elderly. General dental care is available without a referral to children (under 18 years old) and to certain vulnerable groups of adults, including indigenous Australians and those who meet certain government social security stipulations. General dental treatment is also provided by dental students of the University of Sydney within the Department of Clinical Dentistry & Simulation.

The University of Sydney School of Dentistry also known as Sydney Dental School is Australia’s first dental school and a constituent body of the University of Sydney, Australia. Previously the Faculty of Dentistry, the Sydney Dental School joined the newly formed Faculty of Medicine and Health on 30 April 2018. The new faculty was established to ensure the University was best positioned to address the challenges of healthcare in the 21st century. The Sydney Dental School is based at the Westmead Centre for Oral Health (part of Westmead Hospital), and Sydney Dental Hospital (situated between Chalmers Street and Elizabeth Street opposite the entrance to Central Station). The Sydney Dental Hospital was the original site of the Sydney Dental School when it was first opened in March 1901. The school also has connections with other local health district dental hospitals, and provides opportunities for students to undertake rural and regional placements. Professor Heiko Spallek has been Head of School and Dean of the Sydney Dental School since November 2018.

Surry Hills is an inner-city suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Surry Hills is immediately south-east of the Sydney central business district in the local government area of the City of Sydney. Surry Hills is surrounded by the suburbs of Darlinghurst to the north, Chippendale and Haymarket to the west, Moore Park and Paddington to the east and Redfern to the south. It is often colloquially referred to as "Surry". It is bordered by Elizabeth Street and Chalmers Street to the west, Cleveland Street to the south, South Dowling Street to the east, and Oxford Street to the north. Crown Street is a main thoroughfare through the suburb with numerous restaurants, pubs and bars. Central is a locality in the north-west of the suburb around Central station. Prince Alfred Park is located nearby. Strawberry Hills is a locality around Cleveland and Elizabeth Streets and Brickfield Hill to the east of that. A multicultural suburb, Surry Hills has had a long association with the Portuguese community of Sydney.

The Gaelic Theatre is a split level multi purpose venue in Surry Hills, New South Wales, Australia. The theatre is located on the ground floor of INA House, close to Central railway station and was voted “Best Live Music Venue - NSW” at the 2007 Jack Awards.The theatre has a capacity of 800 and has hosted a number of international and Australian touring bands, among them The Strokes, The Libertines, The Darkness, Jet, Maroon 5, Hot Hot Heat, The Kills, MC5, The Wildhearts, American rock quintet The Used, Glenn Hughes (HTP/ex-Deep Purple/Trapeze), super FLORENCE jam, British India, The Mess Hall, Children Collide, You Am I, Battles and Captain Kickarse and the Awesomes, amongst others. The theatre was opened as an entertainment venue in 2002 as part of the Gaelic Club (located on the first floor), but had been previously used as a cinema and also for stage performances. It was originally built in 1957 by the Irish National Association of Australasia as hall to service the Irish community in Sydney. In 2006, the ground floor was sold by the Irish National Association, and it re-opened under the name of The Gaelic Theatre. The theatre is located on Devonshire Street, Surry Hills and is in the vicinity of the old Devonshire Street Cemetery, which was moved during the construction of Central railway station in 1906. The Gaelic Theatre is one of the most popular live music venues in Sydney, and has been recognised for its credibility and goodwill.

The Devonshire Street Tunnel is a 300-metre-long (980 ft) pedestrian tunnel located beneath the southern end of Central station connecting the suburb of Surry Hills with Railway Square in the Sydney central business district.

Belmore Park is a public park at the southern end of the Sydney central business district in the Australian state of New South Wales. Adjacent to the Central railway station, the park is bounded by Hay Street, Eddy Avenue, Elizabeth Street and Pitt Street. The area was previously known as Police Paddock and was part of a section of Crown land which included the Police Barracks, Devonshire Street Cemetery, Female Refuge of the Good Samaritan, Benevolent Asylum and a common.

Railway Institute Building is a heritage-listed former educational facility and social venue at 101 Chalmers Street, Surry Hills, City of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It was built from 1891 to 1898. It is also known as Institute Building. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999.

The Sharpies Golf House Sign is a heritage-listed neon animated advertising sign in Sydney, Australia. It was built from 1958 to 1964 by Consolidated Neon (later Claude Neon), and sat atop a golfing business at 216 – 220 Elizabeth Street, Sydney from 1964 to 2007. It was subsequently taken down and donated to the Powerhouse Museum. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 1 November 2002.

Central is a heritage-listed railway station located in the centre of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The station is the largest and busiest railway station in Australia and serves as a major transport interchange for NSW TrainLink inter-city rail services, Sydney Trains commuter rail services, Sydney light rail services, bus services, and private coach transport services. The station is also known as Sydney Terminal (Platforms 1 to 12). The property was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999. It recorded 85.4 million passenger movements in 2018. Central station occupies a large city block separating Haymarket, Surry Hills and the central business district, bounded by Railway Square and Pitt Street in the west, Eddy Avenue in the north, Elizabeth Street in the east and the Devonshire Street Tunnel in the south. Parts of the station and marshalling yards extend as far south as Cleveland Street, and are located on the site of the former Devonshire Street Cemetery.

The Cleveland House is a heritage-listed former residence, hospital, convent and aged care facility and now vacant building located at 146-164 Chalmers Street, Surry Hills, City of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The building is located at the rear of the block and is best viewed from Bedford Street. Its design was attributed to Francis Greenway and built from 1823. It is also known as Cleaveland. The property is privately owned. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999.

The Hotel Hollywood is a building located on the corner of Foster and Hunt Streets in Surry Hills, inner city suburb of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The building has aesthetic, historical and social significance. It is one of only five hotels "constructed in the Inter-War Functionalist style in the city during a short period between 1938 and 1942"; the others are the Australian (Broadway), the Civic, the Kegroom Tavern, and Sutherlands. The hotel is historically 'intact' having had no internal or external alterations of any kind. It is heritage listed as part of the Sydney Local Environmental Plan on 14 December 2012.Once owned by Tooth and Company it was originally called the Nevada. The Hotel Hollywood acquired its name in 1940 due to its location to the nearby cinema related industry. It saw women drinking at its bars as early as 1950. It is now most notable for its unpretentious, well worn, interior the spinning mirror ball and actress Doris Goddard. Goddard purchased the building in 1978 for $178,000 and remained its publican and proprietress for 42 years, up until her death in July 2019. In June 2021, the building was purchased by private investment firm Petersen Group for over $9 million.
