Vurste

Gavere (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɣaːvərə]) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of East Flanders. The municipality comprises the towns of Asper, Baaigem, Dikkelvenne, Gavere, Semmerzake and Vurste. In 2021, Gavere had a total population of 13,007. The total area is 31.35 km².

Melsen is a village in the province of East Flanders, Belgium, and is a part of the municipality of Merelbeke. It covers an area of roughly 3 square kilometers. Its terrain is largely made up of one great hill. The northern and southern slopes of the hill, which are fairly steep for the surrounding area (about 20 meters), form the natural boundaries with the bordering villages of Vurste and Schelderode. The eastern slopes of the hill evolve into agricultural land and farther east into the forest of Makkegem. The western slope descends into a marsh that is connected to the Schelde (Scheldt) river. Most of the land used to be for agricultural purposes, or covered with forests and marshes, but now most of the western and northern part of the village is almost fully covered by a network of streets and houses. Only some fields on the borders of the village remain.

Zevergem is a village and deelgemeente (sub-municipality) of De Pinte in East Flanders, Belgium. It is located on the Scheldt about 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) south of Ghent.

The Battle of Gavere was fought at Semmerzake, near Gavere, in the County of Flanders (modern-day Belgium) on 23 July 1453, between the army of Philip the Good of Burgundy and the rebelling city of Ghent. The battle ended the Revolt of Ghent with a Burgundian victory.

Baaigem is one of the six villages belonging to the municipality Gavere. It is located on the edge of the Flemish Ardennes, the hilly southern part of the province of East Flanders, Belgium, and used to be an independent municipality till the end of 1976. Baaigem is 3.79 square kilometer large, and had 565 inhabitants on 31 December 2005. Its population is the smallest among the six villages of Gavere.

The Rooigembeek is a small stream in East Flanders, Belgium. It is a right tributary of the Wallebeek, which is a left tributary of the Scheldt. In its upper course, it is called Leedsebeek. In British texts about the 1708 Battle of Oudenaarde, the stream is called Norken River, possibly after the Flemish village Nokere (Kruishoutem municipality), some 9 kilometres (6 mi) away. Its source is in Wortegem (Wortegem-Petegem municipality), west of Oudenaarde. It flows in northwestern direction, and flows into the Wallebeek in Asper (Gavere municipality), north of Oudenaarde. The Rooigembeek is about 12 kilometres (7 mi) long.

Beerlegem is a village belonging to the municipality of Zwalm. It is located in the Flemish Ardennes, the hilly southern part of the province of East Flanders, Belgium. Until 1970, it was an independent municipality.

Zwijnaarde (pronounced [ˈzʋɛi̯naːrdə]) is a village in the municipality of Ghent, Belgium. It is known for its fair and its Zwijntjes beer. A cluster of biotech companies is located at the Zwijnaarde science park, with biotech companies such as Innogenetics, and DevGen. In 2013 at Zwijnaarde, the Flemish Institute for Biotechnology was supervising a trial of 448 poplar trees genetically engineered to produce less lignin so that they would be more suitable for conversion into biofuels.Different youth organisations are active in Zwijnaarde, such as Jeugdhuis Chaos, Chiro Ambo and KLJ Zwijnaarde.

De Pinte (Dutch pronunciation: [də ˈpɪntə]) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of East Flanders. Before its existence as an independent municipality in 1868, De Pinte was a part of Nazareth. The municipality comprises the towns of De Pinte proper and Zevergem. In 2021, De Pinte had a total population of 10,990. The total area is 17.78 km².
