Tarring, West Sussex

Tarring is an electoral division of West Sussex in the United Kingdom, and returns one member to sit on West Sussex County Council.

St Andrew's Church is the Church of England parish church of Tarring, West Sussex, England. Founded in the 11th century in a then rural parish which had earlier been granted to the Archbishop of Canterbury, the church remained a peculier of Canterbury for many centuries thereafter. It served nearby parishes when their churches fell into disrepair, John Selden was baptised here, and the church became a base for smuggling. The present building is mostly 13th-century, and its tall spire is a landmark in the area. The church is a Grade II* Listed Building.

West Worthing railway station is one of five stations serving the town of Worthing in the county of West Sussex, England. (The other stations being Worthing, East Worthing, Durrington-on-Sea and Goring-by-Sea). It is 11 miles 30 chains (18.3 km) down the line from Brighton. The station is operated by Southern.

Durrington High School is a Coeducational secondary school located in Worthing, West Sussex. The school operated as a high school between 1973 and 2015 as part of Worthing's three-tier provision. From September 2015 the school became a standard secondary for 11 – 16-year-olds. The school converted to academy status on 1 April 2014.

Worthing Football Club is a semi-professional football club based in the West Tarring area of Worthing, West Sussex, England. They are currently members of the National League South and play at Woodside Road.

Offington is a neighbourhood of Worthing, in the borough of Worthing in West Sussex, England. It lies on the A2031 road 1.6 miles (2.5 km) northwest of the town centre. Today, the area is a residential suburb of Worthing. Offington was part of the parish of Broadwater and became part of the borough of Worthing in 1902. It is possibly best known for its large manor house, which survived from medieval times to the 1960s

Salvington is a neighbourhood of Worthing, in the borough of Worthing in West Sussex, England. It lies south of the A27 road two miles (3 km) north-west of the town centre. It is served by three elected Worthing Borough Councillors at any given time, currently Nicola Waight, Noel Atkins and Michael Cloake, all Conservative.Salvington is thought to mean either 'Seawolf's farmstead' (Sǣwulf's farmstead) or less romantically, Sǣlāf's farmstead (literally the farmstead of someone named 'sea-leavings' or 'flotsam').Salvington was originally a hamlet within the parish of West Tarring. When most of Tarring became part of Worthing in 1902, Salvington joined the parish of Durrington which included nearby High Salvington. Salvington finally became part of the borough of Worthing in 1929.Salvington is probably best known as the birthplace of the great jurist and antiquarian John Selden in 1584. The cottage in which he lived was demolished in the 1960s when it fell into disrepair and was replaced with a row of bungalows. However Salvington's main public house, Ye John Selden, retains his name. Salvington is also home to 'Old Sussex House' in Salvington Road. This 16th-century building, originally known as 'Salvington Lets' is a listed building and retains in its attic what is possibly the last cockfighting pen in Sussex, surrounded by a thin oak trellis hammered together with hand-made nails.

Worthing High School is a secondary school with academy status located in Worthing, West Sussex. It caters to academic years 7-11 (ages 11–16) and has over 950 students on roll.

St Botolph's Church is an Anglican church in the Heene area of the borough of Worthing, one of seven local government districts in the English county of West Sussex. It had 11th-century origins as a chapelry within the parish of West Tarring, but declined and fell into disuse by the 18th century. Neighbouring Worthing's rapid development as a seaside resort in the 19th century encouraged residential growth around the ancient village of Heene, and a new church with the same dedication was built to serve both Heene and the high-class planned estate of West Worthing. Edmund Scott's Early English Gothic-style church (listed at Grade C) stands next to the fragmentary ruins of the old church, which are listed separately at Grade II.

West Worthing is a neighbourhood of Worthing in West Sussex, England that was developed within Heene and later expanded beyond Heene's boundaries. Intended as an exclusive resort, the township of West Worthing was developed from around 1864 and merged with the formerly separate township of Worthing in 1890, when Worthing gained borough status.Heene is a former civil parish, now part of the borough of Worthing. It lies on the A259 road 0.6 miles (1 km) west of the town centre. Once part of the parish of West Tarring, Heene was a civil parish in its own right from the 16th century until 1902.

Oak Grove College is a coeducational special school and sixth form maintained by West Sussex County Council. The school provides special education for students with learning difficulties from Year 7 to Year 14. In late 2016 the school was awarded foundation level of the British Council’s International School Award in recognition of its work to bring the world into the classroom.
