Battle of Schliengen

Schliengen is a municipality in southwestern Germany in the state of Baden-Württemberg, in the Kreis (district) of Lörrach. Schliengen's claim to international fame is the Battle of Schliengen (24 October 1796), fought between forces of the French Revolutionary army under Jean-Victor Moreau and the Austrian army under Karl von Österreich-Teschen. As both sides claimed victory, the battle is commemorated on a monument in Vienna and on the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.

Entenstein Castle (German: Schloss Entenstein) is a medieval castle surrounded by a moat situated in the center of the town of Schliengen. Schliengen is located in the district of Lörrach, Baden-Württemberg, in the very south-west of Germany in the proximity of the Black Forrest.The origins of the castle can not be clearly dated. The first use of a building at this location can be traced to Walter of Schliengen in 821. By 1000 a tower house might have been in use. In the 13th century, Rudolf von Üsenberg (1207-1231) was the owner of the castle. The name of the castle derives from the German words "Ente" and "Stein", which means duck and stone. By 1525, Entenstein belonged to the nobles of Nagel von der Alten Schönstein and was thus transformed to a more representative manor house. In 1725 Johann Conrad of Reinach-Hirtzbach, then Prince Bishop of Basel, bought Entenstein castle and used it as the seat of the Upper Bailiwick of Schliengen. In 1805, Entenstein Castle became a district site of the Grand Duchy of Baden. After 1857 Entenstein Castle which was then in the possession of the counts of Andlau, an old German noble house, was reconstructed. In 1970 Entenstein Castle was purchased by the Community of Schliengen and renovated thereafter. Since 1975 it has functioned as city hall of the community of Schliengen.

Bad Bellingen (High Alemannic: Bad Bellige) is a municipality in the German state of Baden-Württemberg. It is on the border with France to the west. It is in the German landkreis of Lörrach. The closest larger city is Müllheim which is about 10 km to the north. Bad Bellingen is mostly known for its thermal bath (hence the name, "Bad" being German for "bath"). It is also historically a place where Germans have recovered from health issues as allowed by health rules in place before the turn of the 20th century. The town is twinned with Reigoldswil in Switzerland.

Bad Bellingen station is, along with Rheinweiler station, one of two stations in the municipality of Bad Bellingen in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It lies on the Mannheim–Karlsruhe–Basel railway (Rhine Valley Railway). It has two platform tracks and DB designates it as a class 6 station.

The Kurpark Bad Bellingen (24.3 hectares) is a nature park and botanical garden located on the Badstraße, Bad Bellingen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Its natural area covers 11.3 hectares; the park and garden covers 10.8 hectares, and includes green spaces as well as yearly plantings of tens of thousands of spring and summer flowers.

Auggen is a municipality in the district of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald in Baden-Württemberg in southern Germany. It also belongs to a region called Markgräflerland that has both cultural and historical importance. Auggen has attached to it, a smaller administrative part called Hach. Hach lies to the northeast of Auggen. Auggen lies at the southern end of Breisgau. The area is known, amongst other things, for its biodynamic wine.

Gutnau Priory, also spelled Guttnau or Guttenau (German: Kloster Gutnau, Guttnau or Guttenau), was a small Benedictine nunnery in Neuenburg am Rhein, in the district Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald in Baden-Württemberg in southern Germany.

Bundesautobahn 862 (translates from German as Federal Motorway 862, short form Autobahn 862, abbreviated as BAB 862 or A 862) was an autobahn in Germany. Its purpose was to connect the French Autoroute 36 with the German Bundesautobahn 5 via a bridge over the Rhine. At 400 metres, the A 862 was Germany's shortest autobahn; it was later integrated as an onramp into the A 5.

Neuenburg (Baden) station is a station in Neuenburg am Rhein in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It lies on the single-track on the Müllheim–Mulhouse railway. Deutsche Bahn (DB) designates it as a class 6 station. The station lies on the border between Baden (Germany) and Alsace (France) and is served by DB and SNCF trains.

Müllheim (Baden) station is a small railway junction in Müllheim in the German state of Baden-Württemberg, where the Müllheim–Mulhouse railway branches off the Mannheim–Karlsruhe–Basel railway (Rhine Valley Railway). From 1896 to 1955, the station was the terminus of the tramway-like Müllheim-Badenweiler railway.

Neuenburg am Rhein (High Alemannic: Neiburg am Rhi) is a town in the district Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald in Baden-Württemberg in southern Germany.
