Steinhude

Lake Steinhude, German: Steinhuder Meer, , is a lake in Lower Saxony, Germany located 30 kilometres (19 mi) northwest of Hanover. Named after the nearby village of Steinhude, it has an area of about 30 square kilometres (12 sq mi), making it the largest lake of northwestern Germany. At the same time, Lake Steinhude is very shallow, with an average depth of only 1.35 metres (4.4 ft) and a maximum depth of less than 3 metres (9.8 ft). It lies within a region known as the Hanoverian Moor Geest.

The Steinhuder Meer Nature Park (German: Naturpark Steinhuder Meer), with northwest Germany's largest inland lake, the Steinhuder Meer, at its heart, covers an area of 310 square kilometres (120 sq mi) within the districts of Nienburg and Schaumburg and the region of Hanover. The sponsor of the nature park, founded in 1974, is Hanover Region.

Since then the island hosts the Wilhelmstein fortress (German: Festung Wilhelmstein). Today the island, close to Hagenburg, is a popular destination for tourists. It can be reached by so-called 'emigrants boats' from Steinhude and Mardorf.

Wunstorf (German pronunciation: [ˈvʊnsˌtɔʁf] ) is a town in the district of Hanover, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated approximately 22 km west of Hanover. The following localities belong to the town of Wunstorf: Blumenau (with Liethe), Bokeloh, Großenheidorn, Idensen (with Idensermoor and Niengraben), Klein Heidorn, Kolenfeld, Luthe, Mesmerode, Steinhude, and Wunstorf. The town gave its name to nearby Wunstorf Air Base of the German Air Force. To the west of the city, Steinhude and Großenheidorn are located on the shores of Lake Steinhuder Meer.

Haste is a railway station located in Haste, Germany. The station is located on the Hanover–Minden railway and the Deister Railway. The train services are operated by Deutsche Bahn and WestfalenBahn. The station is also served by the Hanover S-Bahn. The S1 service operates a circle through Hannover and finishes here. The service also calls here when operating from Hannover out to Minden.
