Montra, Ohio

The Emanuel Lutheran Church of Montra is a historic church in Jackson Township, Shelby County, Ohio, United States. Located in the unincorporated community of Montra, north-northeast of the county seat of Sidney, it is the congregation's second building. Montra was platted in 1849, but five years passed before any buildings were erected at the site. St. Emanuel's Lutheran Church was organized in a Montra storeroom in 1860 with a membership of sixteen families. The congregation worshiped in this storeroom until the completion of their first church on the eastern edge of the community in the autumn of 1862; this building measured 40 feet (12 m) by 30 feet (9.1 m) and was built at a cost of $700. Fire destroyed the building in 1874, leaving the congregation homeless for several months. A replacement church was erected on the site of the old during the summer of 1875. A frame structure like its predecessor, the new church measured 50 feet (15 m) by 40 feet (12 m) and was built at a cost of $1,800. It was officially dedicated in October 1875. Built on a stone foundation, the white wooden building is topped with a steeple and features five windows on each side. In 1982, Emanuel Lutheran Church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a property that had made significant contributions to American history. Today, Emanuel is an active congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. According to the denomination's published statistics, the congregation had 190 members and an average Sunday worship attendance of 42 as of 2019.

The village was incorporated in 1900, but surrendered its incorporated status in 1918. A post office was established at Geyer in 1894, and remained in operation until 1911.

The Anna Town Hall is a historic brick town hall in Anna, Ohio, United States. Built in 1880, it originally included space for the village offices, a jail, a fire station, and a community theater. The building's brick architecture presents a stark contrast to the majority of buildings in the village, which includes primarily frame structures.Although the first settlers in the vicinity of modern Anna arrived in 1833, the village was started a quarter century later; it was platted in 1858 by landowner John W. Carey and named for his daughter, Anna Carey. Shortly after the village incorporated in 1877, the need for a community government building became apparent, and the present structure was erected on the main road from the canal town of Minster to a rail line operated by a predecessor of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. In recognition of its place in local history and of its well-preserved historic architecture, the Anna Town Hall was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

The Shelby House is a historic building in Botkins, Ohio, United States. Built in 1864, it was constructed by local businessman Philip Sheets as a hotel for railroad passengers originating from or destined for northern Shelby County and southern Auglaize County. By the early twentieth century, railroad traffic had declined with the advent of the automobile, and the house was converted into an apartment building. It remained in operation until abandonment in the 1940s; for periods of time, it housed businesses or was used as a storage building, but it never reopened as a hotel or apartment building. Eventually, the house was purchased by the Botkins Historical Society, which converted it into a museum. The Shelby House was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978; at this time, it was seen as significant both for its architecture and for its contribution to broad patterns of American history.
