The Ora Holland House, also known as the Holland-Viner House, is a historic building located in Dubuque, Iowa, United States. Holland was a contractor-builder who came to Dubuque from Vermont in 1846 by way of Jacksonville, Illinois where he learned his trade. He built his house over a period of two years because of other projects he was involved with, completing construction in 1857. Holland acquired the property from the Langworthy brothers, who were the first prominent citizens of Dubuque to settle above the bluff. The two-story brick residence is reminiscent of the Federal style. The entry, heavy window cornices and parapets reflect the Greek Revival style. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

The T. Ben Loetscher House is a historic building located in Dubuque, Iowa, United States. T. Ben and Nellie Loetscher had this house built in 1929. It is one of the best examples of early 20th century period revival eclecticism in the city. It was designed by Dubuque architect C.I. Krajewski. The 2½-story brick house features a main entrance with sidelights and other windows that reaches the attic level. It features a blend of wood carvings in foliate and rope designs, and Bedford stone lintels and blocks that are carved with reliefs that reflect an Italian Renaissance influence. The brick color, chimneys and roof style reflect the Tudor Revival style. The house also has large windows with transom and casements that reflect the Colonial Revival style. A single-story brick addition is located on its southeast side blends into the rest of the house. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

The University of Dubuque Theological Seminary is one of the ten official seminaries of the Presbyterian Church (USA). It is located in Dubuque, Iowa. Originally classes were taught in German to serve the immigrant population, but today the school is well known for its emphasis on Native American and rural ministry and on-line education. It is a seminary within the larger University of Dubuque.

Old Chapel Hall, also known as Alumni Hall, is a historic building located on the campus of the University of Dubuque in Dubuque, Iowa, United States. The school started as a German Presbyterian Seminary in 1852. A period of expansion between 1904 and 1922 saw the institution become a liberal arts college called the Dubuque German College and Seminary. This building was part of that expansion. Steffens Hall (no longer extant) was completed in 1907, and became the first building on the school's new campus. The chapel was added onto the rear of that building later the same year. It was a gift of the Frank Peters family from St. Louis. The red brick Gothic Revival structure features stone trim, paired lancet windows, a rose window, and a small open bell tower above the entrance. Religious services were held here until 1980 when Blades Chapel was completed. As part of that project Steffens Hall was torn down, except for the front arcade and porch, which makes the old chapel the oldest building on campus. A courtyard was created where the old building stood directly in front of the old chapel. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Saint Joseph the Worker Catholic Church is a Catholic parish located in Dubuque, Iowa. It is part of the Archdiocese of Dubuque. The parish became the tenth Catholic parish in Dubuque when it was created in 1949 by Archbishop Rohlman. The current pastor of the parish is Father Jim Goerend. Prior to the construction of the first church, the parish offices were located at Mercy Hospital. Weekend masses were held at Washington Junior High School. Eventually a parish church was built at the current location at 90 S. Algona, Dubuque. In the late 1960s, a new parish church was built. This new church building was a departure from the traditional church buildings of the past. The church was a circular structure where the congregation sat in a semicircle around the altar. The church is noted for its stained glass windows. Originally, the parish was named Saint Joseph's Church. There was another Saint Joseph's parish about three miles away, in Key West, Iowa. At times, one of the two parishes would receive mail intended for the other parish. In order to distinguish between the two parishes, the name was changed to St. Joseph the Worker parish in the 1990s. The parish is one of the larger parishes in Dubuque, mainly because of its location near the west end of the city. The church was vandalized and damaged by arson in 2003. Anti-religious graffiti was found on the walls, as was a number of beer cans. A fire was found to have been burning on the main altar. The church sustained about $100,000 worth of damage. The next day, the pastor removed the Eucharist from the building. The building was then cleaned and repaired by a company that specialized in repairing and cleaning fire damaged buildings. A nearby Methodist church that had moved to a new facility donated their old church building while cleaning and repairs were being done. A young man whose family belonged to the parish had eventually confessed to the crime, he had committed it after a night of drinking and drug use.

The Langworthy House, also known as the Octagon House, is a historic building located in Dubuque, Iowa, United States. Built in 1856, it was designed by local architect John F. Rague for local politician Edward Langworthy. The two-story brick home features tall windows, a columned entry, and a windowed cupola. Langworthy and three of his brothers were among the first settlers in Dubuque. They were partners in a lead mine, helped to build the territorial road between Dubuque and Iowa City, they farmed, invested in real estate, and they owned a steamboat and a mercantile exchange. The house has been passed down through Langworthy's descendants. It was individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975, and it was included as a contributing property in the Langworthy Historic District in 2004.

Langworthy Historic District is a nationally recognized historic district located in Dubuque, Iowa, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004. At the time of its nomination it consisted of 110 resources, which included 94 contributing buildings, five contributing structures, nine non-contributing buildings, and two non-contributing structures. This residential area was developed from the end of the American Civil War to the beginning of World War I. Most of the houses were built between 1890 and 1910, with four large houses pre-dating the Civil War. For the most part, the houses here are larger in scale and include examples of Victorian and the various revival and American Movement styles from the late 19th and 20th centuries. The district is completely residential with no commercial or institutional buildings, and with only one multi-family house, a duplex. Two houses were individually listed on the National Register: Langworthy House, an Octagon house from 1855, and the Garland House (1907). The district derives its name from the Langworthy family who were early settlers in Dubuque and played a prominent role in the development of the local lead mining industry and the city itself. The Garland House is a historic building located in Dubuque, Iowa, United States. Joseph C. Garland settled in Dubuque in 1889 and built a general insurance agency that grew to cover 25 counties in Iowa representing the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company. He was also a community booster and philanthropist. The exterior of his large Georgian Revival home is covered with concrete block veneer, which is an unusual combination. The main facade is dominated by a two-story pedimented portico, the east elevation by a centered semicircular vault dormer, and the rear elevation by a two-story veranda. The house is capped with a hip roof with dormers. It was individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983, and it was included as a contributing property in the Langworthy Historic District in 2004.

Wartburg Theological Seminary is a seminary of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America in Dubuque, Iowa. It offers three graduate-level degrees (MA, MA Diaconal Ministry, and M.Div.), a Theological Education for Emerging Ministries certificate, and a diploma in Anglican Studies, all of which are accredited by the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada and the Higher Learning Commission. Students can also choose to add two concentrations: Youth, Culture, and Mission; and Hispanic Ministry. All three of Wartburg Theological Seminary's master's degrees offer the option for Distributed Learning Programs, which combine online learning, intensive courses on-campus, and residential formation. Wartburg also offers a Fully Distributed Master of Arts option without a semester-long residency requirement. Three academic and missional centers are found at Wartburg Theological Seminary, built on their historic strengths: the Center for Global Theologies, the Center for Theology & Land (rural ministry), and the Center for Youth Ministries. The Lutheran Seminary Program in the Southwest is a program of Wartburg Theological Seminary and the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago. The program educates women and men for ordained ministry through the Theological Education for Emerging Ministry. Wartburg Theological Seminary also has long-term ties with global partners, including: Haiti, Tanzania, Guyana, Namibia, Papua New Guinea (with the PNG Museum located on campus), and others.
