Hooper–Lee–Nichols House

The Howe House is an historic house at 6 Appleton Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame house was built in 1887 for Lois Lillie (White) Howe, the mother of Lois Lilley Howe. Howe had the house built following the death of her husband, Dr. Estes Howe. At the time of the house's construction the younger Howe had not yet begun her education at MIT, and it was designed by the noted firm of Cabot & Chandler. After Howe had established herself as an architect she altered the house at least four times, in 1907, 1910 and 1916 and 1935. Architecturally, the house was designed in the Shingle style, but also features elements of the Queen Anne style.The house is principally significant for its association with Howe, one of the first female graduates of the architectural program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the first woman made fellow of the American Institute of Architects. Howe initially lived in the house with her mother and sisters. Her mother died in 1911, followed by elder sister Clara Howe in 1923 and half-sister Sarah Lydia Howe in 1929. She then lived alone in the house until 1963, the year before her death.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The William Cook House is an historic house at 71 Appleton Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts in the United States of America. The 2+1⁄2-story brick house was built in 1877, and is distinctive as a transitional Stick style/Queen Anne building executed using a rare construction material (brick) for a residence in Cambridge. Queen Anne styling is evident in the varied massing and gables, and in the polychrome brick surface. It also has an extremely well preserved Victorian interior.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The Lowell School is an historic school building at 25 Lowell Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Built in 1883, it is the only surviving wood-frame school building in the city. It is a two-story structure, with a hip roof, clapboard siding, and a brick foundation. The building has minimal decoration, with Italianate brackets in the eaves, and paired narrow windows in the Italianate style. It was designed by local architect James Fogerty assisted by his son, George Fogerty, who both designed many public, commercial, and residential buildings in the city.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The Robert Frost House is an historic house in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It consists of four wood-frame townhouses, 2+1⁄2 stories in height, arranged in mirror image styling. Each pair of units has a porch providing access to those units, supported by turned posts and with a low Stick style balustrade. The Queen Anne/Stick style frame house was built in 1884, and has gables decorated with a modest amount of Gothic-style bargeboard. The house was home to poet Robert Frost for the last two decades of his life.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The Hubbard Park Historic District encompasses a residential development and park west of Harvard Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The area was originally the estate of Gardiner Hubbard, who had a 6-acre (2.4 ha) estate and house on nearby Brattle Street. In the 1880s Hubbard commissioned architects to build a ring of high quality homes around his mansion, which was demolished in 1939 and is now the site of Hubbard Park. The houses in this development are now located on Mercer Circle, Sparks Street, and Hubbard Park Road.The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1982.

The Hooper-Eliot House is an historic house in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The three-story Stick-style house was built in 1872 for E.W. Hooper to a design by Sturgis & Brigham. The building's five-bay facade and gambrel roof form an early part of the effort by Sturgis to popularize the Georgian Revival. Its original main facade oriented to the north, a new south-facing entry was designed in 1902 by Lois Lilley Howe, featuring a broken scrolled pediment above the porch. The house was purchased by Samuel Atkins Eliot in that same year.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The J.A. Noyes House is an historic house at 1 Highland Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It is a three-story wood-frame structure, five bays wide with a gambrel roof and clapboard siding. The second floor hangs slightly over the first floor in a reminder of the early colonial garrison style. The main entrance is flanked by short sidelight windows and topped by a narrow semi-oval fanlight. A rounded bay projects to the left of the entrance, and gabled dormers pierce the roof. The house was built in 1894 to design by Longfellow, Alden & Harlow and is a well-kept example of Colonial Revival architecture; the yard was originally landscaped by Charles Eliot. The house is significant in part for the survival of its construction documentation.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The Edward Dodge House is a historic house at 70 Sparks Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame house was built in 1878 to a design by Longfellow and Clark. It has asymmetrical massing typical of Queen Anne styling, and also has a style of half-timbering on its upper levels that was popular in England in the 1860s. The exterior surfaces have a variety of textures, create by different sheathing types, including vertical boards, wood paneling, and brick patternwork.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The Col. Thomas Wentworth Higginson House is a historic house in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It is named after author, minister, and abolitionist Thomas Wentworth Higginson, who had it built and lived there for a time.The house was built in 1880 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. It was the first home that Higginson ever owned. As he wrote to his sister shortly after moving in, "It is such inexpressible happiness to have at last a permanent home."
