Ivanhoe East is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 10 km north-east from Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Banyule local government area. Ivanhoe East recorded a population of 3,762 at the 2021 census. In the 12-month period to January 2020 Ivanhoe East reported a median house price of A$1.58 million for a three bedroom house.

Mother of God Primary School (nicknamed "MOG") was a primary school in Ivanhoe East, Victoria. The school opened in 1963 after being converted from an old house. In the schools infancy the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Apparition taught grades prep to grade 3. With extensions to the school in 1964, it allowed grades 4 and 5 to accepted and then grade 6 students later on.In August 2017, Catholic Education Melbourne confirmed that a review was being undertaken to determine the viability of schools in the Ivanhoe Parish which consisted of three schools, Mary Immaculate School and St Bernadette's School, which are still open and Mother of God. Following the review, the school closed at the end of 2017 with the reasons being "limited enrolment growth" and the need for the Ivanhoe parish to consolidate their resources. In 2016 the school had 106 students enrolled.The site of the school is now leased as the middle school for years 2 and 3 for the neighbouring Ivanhoe East Primary School.

Chadwick House is one of three neighbouring houses built by architect Harold Desbrowe-Annear. At the time of purchase, the allotment location was on the rural urban fringe of Melbourne. It was sloping and provided extensive views over the Yarra Valley. The house was built in 1904 and had many modifications both internally and externally from then until 1988 when it was purchased by architect, Peter Crone. He subsequently undertook a ten-year restoration to return the house, as far as possible and with limited information, to its original condition. The three houses are all domestic dwellings, modest in size and built in an era when extensive architectural work was being done on public buildings and mansions. Chadwick House and the two neighbouring houses epitomise the Arts and Crafts Movement of which Desbrowe-Annear was an exponent and are especially notable as a trio. The house incorporated a number of design and technological innovations not the least of which was the open plan of the interior which still plays a significant role in the design of homes today.

Pholiota was built as the home of architects Walter Burley Griffin and Marion Mahony Griffin in 1920 at 23 Glenard Drive in Eaglemont, Victoria, Australia. The house is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register.The Griffins used Knitlock construction to build this, their first home, on land they owned on the Glenard Estate next door to that of his sister Genevieve and brother-in- law Roy Alstan Lippincott at 21 Glenard Drive, the Lippincott House, a house also listed on the Victorian Heritage Register. Walter Burley Griffin with the builder David Charles Jenkins patented the Knitlock concrete units in 1917. The Knitlock system was designed as an economical, flexible and quick do-it-yourself construction system, with machine produced standard concrete tiles, or segments, which were fitted together on site. Few Knitlock buildings were constructed and Pholiota is one of a small number that survive. The house was a small, single storey house with square plan, containing a central room with a pyramidal ceiling, surrounded by alcoves. These alcoves contained the entrance and service areas and two bedroom alcoves. The floor was brick laid directly on the ground. Alterations and extensions in 1938, 1975 and the 1990s by subsequent owners have obscured the view of the original building from the street. In October 2016, for the exhibition “Pholiota Unlocked”, students at the Melbourne School of Design, University of Melbourne built a full scale plaster replica of the house.The house was named Pholiota after a genus of mushroom.

Eaglemont is an established suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 10 km north-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Banyule local government area. Eaglemont recorded a population of 3,960 at the 2021 census.Formerly known as Mount Eagle, Eaglemont is a picturesque enclave situated between Ivanhoe East and Heidelberg. The heritage-laden garden suburb was designed by Walter Burley Griffin, playing home to many of Australia's most famous artists at the Heidelberg School of Art. Walking distance to first class private schools, the Yarra River, parks, walking trails, shopping centers and a public golf course, the median house prices in Eaglemont remain amongst the highest in Melbourne, with the market for properties notoriously tough to break and few properties up for sale.

Eaglemont railway station is located on the Hurstbridge line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the north-eastern Melbourne suburb of Eaglemont, and opened on 1 May 1926.

The Glenard Estate, Eaglemont, is a residential estate designed by Walter Burley Griffin (1876-1937) and Marion Mahony Griffin (1871-1961) in 1915. They were commissioned by grazier, Peter Keam to lay out the estate on land he owned after his initial commission to lay out the neighbouring Mount Eagle Estate the previous year. The Glenard Estate is the second earliest garden suburban subdivision designed by the Griffins in Australia, predating Castlecrag in Sydney (1924) by nine years. The estate of 120 lots encompasses Glenard Drive, Mossman Drive, and sections of Lower Heidelberg Road and The Boulevard in Eaglemont, Victoria. The initial sale of the lots was considered a success. The streets follow the site contours with internal reserves provided for community use. These reserves, together with the recommended un-fenced back gardens were intended to provide common playing space for children. Covenants have largely ensured the survival of the original street lay out and internal reserves. The entire estate is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register.

Our Lady of Mercy College (OLMC), is a Roman Catholic, secondary day school for girls, situated in Heidelberg, a north-eastern suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The college is conducted by the Sisters of Mercy, a congregation of religious Sisters founded in Dublin, Ireland, by Catherine McAuley. OLMC is a member of Girls Sport Victoria (GSV) and the Catholic All Schools Sports Association (CAS). OLMC is split into four houses, Loreto, Carmel, Mercy and McAuley. These four houses compete in swimming, athletics, debating arts and maths competitions.

The City of Heidelberg was a local government area about 10 kilometres (6 mi) northeast of Melbourne, the state capital of Victoria, Australia. The city covered an area of 34.08 square kilometres (13.16 sq mi), and existed from 1840 until 1994.

Heidelberg railway station is located on the Hurstbridge line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the north-eastern Melbourne suburb of Heidelberg, and opened on 8 May 1888.

Marcellin College is a Catholic secondary boys' college in Bulleen, Victoria, Australia. The school was founded in 1950 by the Marist Brothers originally in Canterbury Road, Camberwell, Victoria. A senior school campus was opened in Bulleen for years 9 to 12 with the Canterbury campus catering for years 4 to 8. With the school population growing the Junior School in Camberwell ceased accepting students in grades 4, 5 and 6 and took only Years 7 and 8. The college consolidated its campuses in 1993 and the Junior School was closed.The college is a member of the Associated Grammar Schools of Victoria and the Association of Marist Schools of Australia. It comes under the eastern region of Catholic Education Melbourne.

On 23 April 2020, a drugged truck driver, Mohinder Singh, crashed his truck into a Porsche 911 and two police cars on the Eastern Freeway, in the city of Melbourne, killing four police officers who were on routine highway patrol. Prior to the incident, the officers had pulled over the Porsche driver, Richard Pusey, for speeding. After the truck ploughed into the officers, Pusey filmed them for several minutes with vulgar commentary as they lay dying, before fleeing.The crash was the biggest loss of police lives in a single incident in Victoria police’s history. Justice Paul Coghlan stated that the crash had "shocked the public conscience".
