Cottage Hill Historic District

Wright Brothers Park is an urban park in Montgomery, Alabama, United States. The park was renamed from Overlook Park to Wright Brothers Park on July 2, 2013, in dedication to the Wright Brothers. The park underwent renovations and redecoration for the dedication. One of the objects of redecoration is a full-scale replica of the Wright Flyer which is right above the Alabama River.Wright Brothers Park features beautiful views of the Alabama River and the surrounding area. Picnic shelters with off-street parking provide a pleasant place for a family picnic. Amenities include benches, trails with views of the river, and a playground. The park has four picnic tables under a gazebo overlooking the Alabama River (Maxwell Boulevard).

Winter Place is a historic complex of two conjoined houses and three outbuildings in Montgomery, Alabama. The buildings were constructed from the 1850s through the 1870s. The Italianate style North House was built in the 1850s and was the home of the Joseph S. Winter family. The Second Empire style South House was built in the 1870s and was the home of Winter's daughter, Sally Gindrat Winter Thorington, and her husband, Robert D. Thorington. Joseph S. Winter's first house in Montgomery was designed by Samuel Sloan in 1851 and it is believed by architectural historians that Sloan designed Winter Place as well. Following several decades of neglect, the property was placed on the Alabama Historical Commission's Places in Peril list in 2004. It was purchased in 2006 by Craig Drescher, who attempted to stabilize and restore the structures. The complex was added to the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage on September 29, 2005, and to the National Register of Historic Places on May 31, 2006.In 2018 the homes were sold to real-estate tycoon and bachelor philanthropist, Benjamin Blanchard who saw the property renovation, not only as an investment in restoring the luster of its historical significance, but as a deep contribution to the narrative of restoration and unity the Five Points neighborhood (home to Winter Place) is now undergoing. After decades of neglect and failed attempts by others to restore the home, Blanchard will successfully fully renovate the South House as his personal residence (pictured above) in the fall of 2020, and progressively renovate the North House in successive years to come.

The McBryde–Screws–Tyson House, also known as the Tyson House, is a historic Greek Revival style house in Montgomery, Alabama. The two-story frame building was completed in 1832 and the Greek Revival facade added in 1855. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 28, 1980. The Jefferson Davis Hotel is a former hotel located in Montgomery, Alabama. It was named for Jefferson Davis, the president of the Confederate States of America. Built in 1927, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 13, 1979. The buildings used to feature the WSFA radio studio, where Hank Williams performed in the late 1930s. The hotel remained segregated into the 1960s. African-American preachers, among them Ralph Abernathy and Martin Luther King Jr., were allowed into WSFA's studio to broadcast a sermon on Sunday mornings. It is currently used as apartments for the elderly.

The National Memorial for Peace and Justice, informally known as the National Lynching Memorial, is a national memorial to commemorate the black victims of lynching in the United States. It is intended to focus on and acknowledge past racial terrorism and advocate for social justice in America. Founded by the non-profit Equal Justice Initiative, it opened in downtown Montgomery, Alabama on April 26, 2018.It consists of a memorial square with 805 hanging steel rectangles representing each of the U.S. counties where a documented lynching took place. It includes sculptures depicting themes related to racial violence. The monument was positively received by architectural critics, activists, and the general public. Philip Kennicott of The Washington Post described it as "one of the most powerful and effective new memorials created in a generation".

The Shepherd Building was a building in Montgomery, Alabama, U.S.. It was built in 1922, and designed by architect Frederick Ausfeld. It was donated to Troy University in 2002. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places from May 22, 1986, to its demolition in November 2010.

The Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, also known as the Mount Zion AME Zion Church Memorial Annex, is a historic church in Montgomery, Alabama, United States. Located on 467 Holt Street, it was built in 1899 and extensively remodeled in 1921. In 1955 the Montgomery Improvement Association, who organized the Montgomery bus boycott, was formed in the building. During the Selma to Montgomery marches in 1965, marchers rested at the church on their way to the Capitol. It is included on the Selma to Montgomery National Historic Trail. The congregation moved to a new location in 1990, and on November 4, 2002, the building was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The sides of the building are decorated with murals depicting Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, and the Selma to Montgomery marches.

Montgomery Union Station and Trainshed is a historic former train station in Montgomery, Alabama. Built in 1898 by the Louisville and Nashville Railroad, rail service to the station ended in 1979 and it has since been adapted for use by the Montgomery Area Visitor Center and commercial tenants. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973 and became a National Historic Landmark in 1976.

Troy University at Montgomery is a satellite campus of Troy University and is located in Montgomery, Alabama. It is part of the Troy University System. The campus is located in the western part of downtown, and includes the Rosa Parks Museum and Library, the Davis Theatre for the Performing Arts, and portions of the historic Bell Building. But also has other campuses around the state of Alabama. The university also operates the W.A. Gayle Planetarium in Oak Park.

Troy University at Dothan is a satellite campus of Troy University and is located in Dothan, Alabama. The campus has its roots in extension courses offered at Fort Rucker, Alabama in the 1950s. A separate Troy State College teaching center was established at Fort Rucker in the 1960s, which led to the creation of the present-day Dothan Campus. In 1982, the Montgomery and Dothan campuses were granted independent accreditation, and the Troy State University System was formed. In April 2004, "State" was dropped from the University's name to reflect the institution's new, broader focus. In August 2005, all Troy campuses were reunified under one accreditation.

Old Ship African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church is a historic African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church in Montgomery, Alabama. It is the oldest African American church congregation in the city, established in 1852. The current Classical Revival-style building was designed by Jim Alexander and was completed in 1918. It is the fourth building the congregation has erected at this location. Scenes from the 1982 television movie Sister, Sister were shot at the church. It was placed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage on March 3, 1976, and the National Register of Historic Places on January 24, 1991.

The Rosa Parks Museum is located on the Troy University at Montgomery satellite campus, in Montgomery, Alabama. It has information, exhibits, and some artifacts from the 1955 Montgomery bus boycott. This museum is named after civil rights activist Rosa Parks, who is known for refusing to surrender her seat to a white person on a city bus.
