Jefferson Davis Hotel

The Shepherd Building was a building in Montgomery, Alabama, U.S.. It was built in 1922, and designed by architect Frederick Ausfeld. It was donated to Troy University in 2002. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places from May 22, 1986, to its demolition in November 2010.

Troy University at Montgomery is a satellite campus of Troy University and is located in Montgomery, Alabama. It is part of the Troy University System. The campus is located in the western part of downtown, and includes the Rosa Parks Museum and Library, the Davis Theatre for the Performing Arts, and portions of the historic Bell Building. But also has other campuses around the state of Alabama. The university also operates the W.A. Gayle Planetarium in Oak Park.

Troy University at Dothan is a satellite campus of Troy University and is located in Dothan, Alabama. The campus has its roots in extension courses offered at Fort Rucker, Alabama in the 1950s. A separate Troy State College teaching center was established at Fort Rucker in the 1960s, which led to the creation of the present-day Dothan Campus. In 1982, the Montgomery and Dothan campuses were granted independent accreditation, and the Troy State University System was formed. In April 2004, "State" was dropped from the University's name to reflect the institution's new, broader focus. In August 2005, all Troy campuses were reunified under one accreditation.

The Rosa Parks Museum is located on the Troy University at Montgomery satellite campus, in Montgomery, Alabama. It has information, exhibits, and some artifacts from the 1955 Montgomery bus boycott. This museum is named after civil rights activist Rosa Parks, who is known for refusing to surrender her seat to a white person on a city bus.

The Bell Building is an office building located in downtown Montgomery, Alabama. It was built in 1907 by local businessman Newton J. Bell, and was the tallest building in Montgomery at the time. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1981. The height of the building is 187 feet. The entire 12th floor and the roof were rented by the Beauvoir Club (the predecessor of the Montgomery Country Club), which had sold their mansion on Perry Street and signed a ten-year lease for the Bell Building.

The Frank M. Johnson Jr. Federal Building and United States Courthouse is a United States federal building in Montgomery, Alabama, completed in 1933 and primarily used as a courthouse of the United States District Court for the Middle District of Alabama. The building is also known as United States Post Office and Courthouse—Montgomery and listed under that name on the National Register of Historic Places. In 1992, it was renamed by the United States Congress in honor of Frank Minis Johnson, who had served as both a district court judge and a court of appeals judge. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 2015.

The Exchange Hotel in Montgomery, Alabama, United States, was a luxury hotel, first built in 1846 and finished in 1847. The hotel burned down in 1904 and was rebuilt in 1906; its second incarnation was demolished in the 1970s. The hotel was a hotbed of politics; during the American Civil War it housed, for a while, the Confederate government, and throughout the 20th century it was the place where politicians and business men met to make deals. Among the early owners were "Messrs. St. Lanier & Son"; Sterling Lanier was the grandfather of Sidney Lanier and his brother Clifford, who both worked at the hotel as clerks. After the Civil War, Clifford managed and co-owned the hotel.

The Freedom Rides Museum is located at 210 South Court Street in Montgomery, Alabama, in the building which was until 1995 the Montgomery Greyhound Bus Station. It was the site of a violent attack on participants in the 1961 Freedom Ride during the Civil Rights Movement. The May 1961 assaults, carried out by a mob of white protesters who confronted the civil rights activists, "shocked the nation and led the Kennedy Administration to side with civil rights protesters for the first time."The property is no longer used as a bus station, but the building was saved from demolition and its façade has been restored. The site was leased by the Alabama Historical Commission and a historical marker was located in front of the building. In 2011, a museum was opened inside the building, and it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The museum won a national preservation award from the National Trust for Historic Preservation in 2012.

The Court Square–Dexter Avenue Historic District is a 17.6-acre (7.1 ha) historic district in downtown Montgomery, Alabama, United States. Centered on the Court Square Fountain, the district includes twenty-seven contributing buildings and two objects. It is roughly bounded by Dexter Avenue, Perry, Court and Monroe streets. Architectural styles in the district include Italianate, Late Victorian, and various Revival styles. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on March 1, 1982. The boundaries were subsequently increased on August 30, 1984.

The Court Square Fountain, in the Court Square-Dexter Avenue Historic District of Montgomery, Alabama, was established in 1885 on top of an artesian well, which native Alabamians used long before the area was settled. The fountain contains statues based on Greek mythology. The surrounding area, once the location for Montgomery's bustling slave trade, has seen most of its historical buildings torn down; the fountain's statues were replaced with aluminum ones in the 1980s.

The National Memorial for Peace and Justice, informally known as the National Lynching Memorial, is a national memorial to commemorate the black victims of lynching in the United States. It is intended to focus on and acknowledge past racial terrorism and advocate for social justice in America. Founded by the non-profit Equal Justice Initiative, it opened in downtown Montgomery, Alabama on April 26, 2018.It consists of a memorial square with 805 hanging steel rectangles representing each of the U.S. counties where a documented lynching took place. It includes sculptures depicting themes related to racial violence. The monument was positively received by architectural critics, activists, and the general public. Philip Kennicott of The Washington Post described it as "one of the most powerful and effective new memorials created in a generation".

The Steiner–Lobman and Teague Hardware Buildings are historic buildings in Montgomery, Alabama, U.S.. They were built by businessmen Louis Steiner and Nathan Lobman circa 1891 for their dry goods store. By 1895, the Southern building was sold to William Martin Teague, the owner of the Teague Hardware Company. The buildings remained in the respective families as late as the 1970s. They have been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since January 31, 1979.
