Caer Caradoc (Chapel Lawn) (Welsh – Caer Caradog) is an Iron Age hill fort and Scheduled Monument in the south-west of the English county of Shropshire, near the town of Clun. It overlooks the village of Chapel Lawn. It is located within an area of Open Access land and can be reached via a public footpath between the farms of Wax Hall to the west and Bryncambric to the east. This hill fort has the same name as another, Caer Caradoc near Church Stretton, also in Shropshire but 16 miles (26 km) to the north-east.

The Redlake is a minor river in southwest Shropshire, England. Its headwaters are to the south of Newcastle, on the other side of Spoad Hill (alternatively Springhill).It flows through Treverward, Purlogue, New Invention, Chapel Lawn, Bucknell and Coxall, before discharging into the River Clun at Jay. The last part of the river, through Adley Moor, is in Herefordshire.

Chapel Lawn is a small village in southwest Shropshire, England, located within the Redlake Valley, some three miles south of the small town of Clun. Chapel Lawn lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty bounded to the north by Bryneddin Wood, an ancient deciduous wood containing extensive plantings of Sessile Oak. On Caer Caradoc, a 399-metre (1,309 ft) hill less than 1 kilometre south of the village, can be found an Iron Age fort with mounds and ditches well defined and scheduled by English Heritage.

Clun or Clun and Chapel Lawn (sometimes "Clun with Chapel Lawn") is a civil parish which covers a large rural area in the southwest of Shropshire, England. The parish has an area of 6,079 hectares (15,020 acres).The parish council is formally called "Clun Town Council with Chapel Lawn" following a Governance Review in 2011/12 and a Resolution of the Council in May 2012. Prior to the Review, the parish's formal name was simply "Clun" and the parish council was "Clun and Chapel Lawn Parish Council".The parish is divided into two parish wards: to the north is the larger ward of Clun (covering the historic town — and former borough — of Clun and the surrounding countryside), and to the south Chapel Lawn (covering the small village of Chapel Lawn and the surrounding countryside). Although it is smaller than many villages in terms of its built area and population, Clun is officially a town. It has an historic Town Hall (which is now a museum) and its council is presided over by a Town Mayor (the correct title for a chairman of a town council in England). It is currently (as of 2013) the smallest town in Shropshire. The population of the civil parish was recorded in 2011 as 1,184.The parish forms part of the Clun electoral division of Shropshire Council.

Knighton railway station serves the border market town of Knighton in Powys, Wales, although the station itself is located in Shropshire, England (the border is immediately adjacent to the south side of the station and runs through the car park). It lies 32+1⁄2 miles (52.3 km) south west of Shrewsbury (by railway line) on the Heart of Wales Line. The railway station is located below street level at Station Road beside the River Teme and about 1⁄2 mile (0.8 km) from the centre of the town. All trains serving the station are operated by Transport for Wales, who also manage the station.

Stowe or Stow is a small village and civil parish in south Shropshire, England. The parish has a border with Wales and the Welsh town of Knighton is less than two miles to the southwest of the village; a very small part of the town (including Knighton station) actually lies within Stowe parish and Shropshire. The population of the civil ward in the United Kingdom Census of 2011 was 140. In the 2021 census the population has dropped to 120 in 60 households. Also nearby is the Salopian village of Bucknell and the Welsh hamlet of Milebrook. The A488 passes through the parish and the A4113 road passes nearby.

Nether Skyborry is a Grade II listed country house (near to Skyborry Green) and lies within the parish of Llanfair Waterdine, South Shropshire.

Clun Castle is a medieval ruined castle in Clun, Shropshire, England. Clun Castle was established by the Norman lord Robert de Say after the Norman invasion of England and went on to become an important Marcher lord castle in the 12th century, with an extensive castle-guard system. Owned for many years by the Fitzalan family, Clun played a key part in protecting the region from Welsh attack until it was gradually abandoned as a property in favour of the more luxurious Arundel Castle. The Fitzalans converted Clun Castle into a hunting lodge in the 14th century, complete with pleasure gardens, but by the 16th century the castle was largely ruined. Slighted in 1646 after the English Civil War, Clun remained in poor condition until renovation work in the 1890s. Today the castle is classed as a Grade I listed building and as a Scheduled Monument. It is owned by the Duke of Norfolk, who also holds the title of Baron Clun, and is managed by English Heritage.

Clun (Welsh: Colunwy) is a town in south west Shropshire, England, and the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The 2011 census recorded 680 people living in the town. Research by the Campaign for the Protection of Rural England suggests that Clun is one of the most tranquil locations in England.

Clun Town Hall is a municipal building in The Square in Clun, Shropshire, England. The building, which is now used as a museum, is a Grade II* listed building.

Knighton was a rural district in the administrative county of Radnorshire, Wales from 1894 till 1974. The district was formed by the Local Government Act 1894, when the existing Knighton Rural Sanitary District was divided into three: the section in Herefordshire was reconstituted as Wigmore Rural District, that in Shropshire as Teme Rural District, while the remaining section in Radnorshire became Knighton Rural District. The rural district council was based in the town of Knighton which was a separate urban district. The rural district comprised seventeen civil parishes: Beguildy Bleddfa Cascob Discoed Heyope Knighton Litton and Cascob Llananno Llanbadarn Fynydd Llanbister Llanddewi Ystradenny Llanfihangel Rhydithon Llangunllo Norton Pilleth Stanage Whitton The district was abolished in 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972, which completely reorganised local administration in England and Wales. Its area became part of the District of Radnor in the new county of Powys.

Offa's Dyke (Welsh: Clawdd Offa) is a large linear earthwork that roughly follows the border between England and Wales. The structure is named after Offa, the Anglo-Saxon king of Mercia from 757 to 796 CE, who is traditionally believed to have ordered its construction, although modern archaeological evidence shows far earlier origins and its original purpose is debated. It delineated the border between Anglian Mercia and the Welsh kingdoms (such as Powys) though a 2014 study indicated a roughly late 6th century date for one part of the dyke (Radiocarbon dates are 430–652 CE with 95% confidence) suggesting Offa expanded existing fortifications. The earthwork, which was up to 65 feet (20 m) wide (including its flanking ditch) and 8 feet (2.4 m) high, traversed low ground, hills and rivers. Today, it is protected as a scheduled monument. Some of its route is followed by the Offa's Dyke Path, a 177-mile (285 km) long-distance footpath that runs between Liverpool Bay in the north and the Severn Estuary in the south. Although the dyke has conventionally been dated to the Early Middle Ages of Anglo-Saxon England, research in recent decades—using techniques such as radiocarbon dating—has challenged the conventional historiography and theories about the earthwork and showed that construction was started in the late 6th century, during the sub-Roman period.
