Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport (IATA: ICT, ICAO: KICT, FAA LID: ICT) is a commercial airport 7 miles (11 km) west of downtown Wichita, Kansas, United States. It is the largest and busiest airport in the state of Kansas. Located south of US-54 in southwest Wichita, it covers 3,248 acres (1,314 ha) and contains three runways.The airport is referred to as Eisenhower National Airport or by its former name Mid-Continent Airport. The airport's airport code, ICT, is also a nickname for the city.The airport was previously Wichita Mid-Continent Airport. The name was to be changed on March 31, 2015, by the city of Wichita, but the official change occurred within the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on November 13, 2014, for a deadline to publish new aeronautical charts and airport directories. The new terminal opened on Wednesday, June 3, 2015.Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower Airport offers flights on seven major airlines. Destinations include: Denver, Seattle, Los Angeles, Orlando, Atlanta, Minneapolis, Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Las Vegas, Destin, Phoenix, St. Louis. The airport is named after Dwight Eisenhower, the 34th President of the United States from 1953 to 1961. His boyhood home, museum, and Presidential Library are at the Eisenhower Presidential Center in Abilene, Kansas. The airport is the site of the Cessna headquarters and main manufacturing plant, as well as a Bombardier service center for Learjet and other business jet aircraft.

The 2013 Wichita Bomb Attempt was an attempted suicide bombing that targeted the Wichita Mid-Continent Airport on December 13, 2013. The attack was attempted by 58-year old avionics technician Terry Lee Loewen.

On October 30, 2014, a Beechcraft King Air B200 twin turboprop crashed into a building hosting a FlightSafety International (FSI) training center shortly after taking off from Wichita Mid-Continent Airport in Wichita, Kansas. The pilot, the only person on board, was killed along with three people in the building; six more people in the building were injured. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) concluded that the crash most likely occurred due to the pilot's inability to successfully control the aircraft after a reduction in power from the left engine.

The 1950 U.S. Women's Open was the fifth U.S. Women's Open, held September 28 to October 1 at Rolling Hills Country Club in Wichita, Kansas. Babe Zaharias won the second of her three U.S. Women's Open titles, nine strokes ahead of runner-up Betsy Rawls, an amateur. Defending champion Louise Suggs finished in solo third. Zaharias entered the final round with a four stroke lead over Rawls. It was the seventh of ten major championships for Zaharias, and Rawls won the title the following year. The formation of the LPGA was announced during this championship, which was not run by the United States Golf Association (USGA) until 1953. The U.S. Women's Open returned to Wichita five years later in 1955 at Wichita Country Club.

The Cotillion Ballroom is a concert venue in Wichita, Kansas, United States. It is located between Maize Road and 119th Street West on the north side of Kellogg (U.S. 54) in west Wichita. The Cotillion is a special events facility that hosts concerts, roller derby, dances, comedians and stage shows featuring nationally known artists and performers. This special events facility is available to rent for concerts, dances, banquets, corporate events, wedding receptions, trade shows and private parties.

The James and Ella Truitt House, located at 305 N. Steuben Ave. in Chanute, Kansas, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.It is a Queen Anne-style house which was built in 1887.It was deemed significant "for its association with James Truitt, a locally significant nurseryman who operated Truitt & Sons Greenhouse and founded Chanute Nurseries. Towne West Square is an enclosed shopping mall located in Wichita, Kansas, United States. Opened on Friday, March 6, 1981, it comprises more than 50 stores in 951,447 square feet (88,392.3 m2) of gross leasable area. The mall's three anchor stores are Dick's Sporting Goods, Dillard's Clearance Center and JCPenney. The original anchor stores in the mall were: Dillard's, Henry's, JCPenney, Montgomery Ward and Service Merchandise (formerly Wilson's Catalog Showroom). Henry's closed in 1988. The structure was later sealed off from the rest of the mall and currently houses 54 West Music Hall. Sears opened in 1993 (12 years after the rest of the mall) moving a store from the open air Twin Lakes Shopping Center. Sears closed in December 2014. Their anchor store structure was taken over by Convergys and converted to office space, which was no longer accessible from the interior of the mall. In 2017, Dillard's closed their women's store anchor on the mall's north side and converted their men's store (located in the former Montgomery Ward) into a Dillard's Clearance Center. Sears Hometown, operated in the old Henry's, but closed in 2019. Later, Convergys was renamed Concentrix. In 2021, the former Concentrix space was purchased and is now MCI. On July 31, 2020, JCPenney put 21 stores for sale as part of their bankruptcy, this location included. The store was reaffirmed in 2021 and remains open and operating. Towne West contains a mix of local and national retailers.
