Linden, Wisconsin

Linden is a town in Iowa County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 873 at the 2000 census. The Village of Linden is located within the town. The unincorporated community of Edmund is located in the town.

Linden High School was a high school building at 344 East Main Street in Linden, Wisconsin. The school was built in 1913 to replace Linden's 1882 school building, a wooden structure which had burned down earlier that year. Architect Hans T. Liebert gave the two-story brick school a German-inspired design; Liebert's brother Eugene designed the Germania Building in Milwaukee in 1896, and the school's design borrowed elements from the earlier building, notably the columns flanking the entrance. Liebert's design also included a curved parapet above the entrance, limestone ornamentation, and a hip roof with two brick chimneys. Linden used the building continuously until 1960, when Iowa County's rural schools were consolidated and the Linden school closed. The school was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 4, 1993. It was demolished in 1995.

The Linden Methodist Church is a historic church building at the corner of Main and Church Streets in Linden, Wisconsin. Linden's Methodist congregation formed in 1834, only a few years after Linden was established as a mining community. It built a wooden church in 1836 and replaced it with a rock building in 1840, but by 1851 it had outgrown its second building as well. The 1851 church building is a limestone structure measuring 40 by 50 feet (12 by 15 m); like most contemporary churches in the area, the limestone was quarried locally by Cornish American masons. The church includes an arched entrance and stained glass windows on each side. The congregation placed a Victorian-style steeple atop the church in 1877-78. The church was added to the National Register of Historic Places on October 19, 1978.

Iowa County Airport (ICAO: KMRJ, FAA LID: MRJ) is a county-owned public-use airport located three nautical miles (6 km) northwest of the central business district of Mineral Point, a city in Iowa County, Wisconsin, United States. It is included in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2021–2025, in which it is categorized as a local general aviation facility. Although many U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, this facility is assigned MRJ by the FAA but has no designation from the IATA (which assigned MRJ to Marcala Airport in Marcala, Honduras).

Mineral Point is a city in Iowa County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 2,581 at the 2020 census. The city is located within the Town of Mineral Point. Mineral Point is part of the Madison Metropolitan Statistical Area. Mineral Point was settled in 1827, becoming a lead and zinc mining center, and commercial town in the 19th and early 20th centuries. It initially drew a considerable number of Cornish-immigrant miners and their families. In the mid-20th century it attracted artists and an artist's colony and its tourism industry began to grow. The city's well-preserved historical character within the varied natural topography of the driftless area has made it a regional tourist destination. Mineral Point is sometimes called Wisconsin's third oldest city, but the Wisconsin Historical Society notes several older colonial settlements.

Fort Jackson was a frontier fort located in Mineral Point, Michigan Territory, and constructed during the 1832 Black Hawk War.

The Walker House is an inn and restaurant in Mineral Point, in Iowa County, Wisconsin. It is one of the oldest inns in the state.

Pendarvis is a historic site located in Mineral Point, Iowa County, Wisconsin, United States. The site, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is made up of several 19th century stone and timber cabins built by Cornish immigrants who came to Mineral Point to mine lead and zinc. Today the site is owned by the Wisconsin Historical Society and serves as a museum of Wisconsin's early lead mining history. Programs at the site also interpret the groundbreaking preservation work by Robert Neal and Edgar Hellum, begun during the Great Depression.

Mineral Point Hill is a hill and former mining site in Mineral Point, Wisconsin, bounded by Wisconsin Highway 23, Shake Rag Street, Copper Street, and Dodge Street. It is the site of the 1825 discovery of lead ore in Mineral Point, which drew settlers to the region over the next decade. Many of these new residents were Cornish immigrants, and they settled in a community called Pendarvis at the base of the hill. The wave of settlement led to Mineral Point's establishment in the 1830s, making it the third-oldest city in Wisconsin. The hill was also the site of the Merry Christmas zinc mine, which operated from 1906 to 1912; by this point, zinc had supplanted lead as the area's most plentiful resource. The site includes a mine office building, the shaft of the Merry Christmas mine, and several filled mine sites. The hill was added to the National Register of Historic Places on October 26, 1972.

Prior to broadcasting on 99.3 MHz, WDMP-FM was originally located at 107.1 on the FM dial.

WZRK (810 AM, "96.9 Z-Rock") is a radio station broadcasting an active rock music format. Licensed to Dodgeville, Wisconsin, United States, the station serves southwest Wisconsin and the West Madison Metropolitan area. The station is currently owned by Dodge Point Broadcasting Company.On August 9, 2018, the then-WDMP dropped its country simulcast with WDMP-FM and changed its format to active rock, branded as "96.9 Z-Rock" and simulcasting on FM translator W245DE 96.9 FM Dodgeville. The station changed its call sign to WZRK on August 10, 2018.
